As you can see, we always go to WDW in August. I'm debating next year to maybe try June or July but how are the crowds? Should I still stick with August? I know it's hotter but that doesn't bother us since it's what we've been used to for many years now but I was just wondering how the weather is in June and July, is there more rain, etc.:confused3

Thanks so much for any input:goodvibes

I have never been in June or July but the hottest it has ever been when I've been to Disney is when I took my DD for her 7th birthday. I was 103 on 5/23/06. Much hotter than any of the 3 trips in August.

I think June & July would also be more crowded than August as well and depending on the resort you stay in could be more expensive.

So I see you go alot in August as well?

I was just curious to hear from those who go in June and July to see how they liked it. Sometimes I wonder if it's a bit cooler during those months but I don't know. I know when we were there last month it was brutal but I have to say I'm used to it and expect it since we always went in August.

Thanks again:thumbsup2

This year we went in July, the year before in June and in 2008 we are going in June - and our reasoning has nothing to do with the crowds or the heat.

When we went in June, it was great, we left on the kids last day of school - kinda like their reward for having a great school year, and then we had all summer to play.

in 2007 we went July 20th. So the kids got out of school and then the next immediately into Summer Camp. DH and I both work full time. So for 6 weeks we anticipated our trip. then our trip comes we have a GREAT time. We get home August 4th and now we're counting down 20 days for school to start up again.

IMO - we didn't have a summer, it was 1) anticipation 2) the ACTUAL TRIP 3) post trip depression.

This of course is how it works with our family, YMMV.

I can understand your reasons totally!

We always went in August because we got out of school mid-June and I work at a school as well and July is always a busy month with vacations and family parties so we always went in August. My boys are adults now so starting college in Sept. they don't care. This year we definitely had to do August since my DS needed to take a summer class at college that was only offered in the summer since it was an externship class and that actually ended one week before our trip. This is why next year I'm more flexible but wanted to know what June and July were like.

We love our June or early July trips.

I really think there is no big difference between them and August as far as rain and crowds .

This year we are going for 2 weeks at the end of June and July4th week I think.

We left the day school was out last year, and we'll do the same this year. The crowds weren't nearly as bad as I'd expected, but the parks weren't empty either, of course.

Just wanted to add we switch ours every year as we get APs.

Will get them agian this trip (lateJune early July) and them use them again next year as soon as DD gets out of School in early JUne.

This way we get at least 16 days out of them and any small trips we take during the year. Last year we ended up going for 25 or 26 days this time around it looks like a few longer trips so we should hit the 25 day mark again.

Just another thing to think about if you go every year .

HI we are July travelers and have been to WDW both times in July. We loved it its hot and sticky but if you know the tricks to beat the heat its gonna be just fine and it cools down somewhat at night. It rains everyday but when your hot you welcome the rain but beware after the rains comes that muggy feeling. Its busy but we took advantage of extra magic hrs. The only thing that was really bad was the water park's where packed and if you where not there almost when they opened they would close the park. There are tons of tour groups but We have never had a problem with them at all.The lines are long but if you play it smart with fast pass and a touring plan your good as gold.We love going in July and the only reason we are trying sept this next time is for MNSSHP .We loved the late hrs and the later parades. We have never done the other months so I can't say for sure if things will be different but If you try it and don't like it then you never have to do July again.I hope you and yours have a great vacation no matter what time you go its Disney world and your going again Yeah!!:cheer2:

We have gone in July for the past few years. Yes, it is very hot and humid but if you don't try to overdo it is's fine. We usually spent the day at a park, left around 4 or 4:30 and took showers and got redressed for dinner. If we were up to it, we went back to the park for the night show (wishes, fantasmic, etc.)

I do not think the crowds were any better or worse. You just have to know where to go to first in the parks (the more popular areas) so you get on all the best rides.

Hope this helps.

Thanks everyone for your input:thumbsup2

I don't have a problem with the heat since we've always gone in August and matter of fact, here in NJ it can also get very hot so I don't feel like I'm going into anything different from home. I'm more curious as to crowd size but then again, it is WDW so it's probably always crowded.

But I'll make a decision soon. I'm still thinking of our last trip. After all, we've only been home a month and here I'm already planning the next trip and DH and DS are going in 2 weeks so lucky them:goodvibes DH is going to his usual convention and DS begged to go with him. Me and other DS will stay here as I work at a school and DS has college and work so it's tough for him. The older the boys get the harder it can get to plan trips.:headache:

Early June (before the 18th or so) is not very crowded, nor is mid to late August. We have hit rain a few times in June, not very often in August. July can go either way, but is by far the most crowded month, IMHO.

We usually go in August (1st-2nd week), but this past summer we went July 12-18. We will never go in July again if we can avoid it b/c the crowds at the parks were so much worse than when we have been in August, not to mention there were tour groups everywhere that we had never really seen in August.

We've been many, many times in July. It is really, really hot and humid. We went because it worked with school and sport schedule.

If we could have gone in August, that would have been my choice. I never wanted to go in June because it made the summer seem to long.

If it has to be one of those 3 months I'd pick August. Now that my kids are adults, my DH and I choose to go right after Thanksgiving. At our age the heat and humidity has become an issue.

Thanks! This is what I wanted to know because as you can see August is when we always go and I really wanted a comparison from someone who usually went in August and then went in June or July so you could compare. :)

We took are family of seven this past June and had a great time. We went June 12th and yes there were crowds but not as bad as I thought they would of been.It was warm but no rain for or entire trip and that was nice. We plan on June again this year if all plans out and are property taxes do not break us? Dave

We have been in May, June, and July. My favorite time is May, but school often makes that impossible. Second best is early June. It isn't too crowded, because many schools don't get out until mid-June. It is significantly cooler (as a rule) than July and August. You also don't have as many tour groups. It usually isn't too rainy, and you don't have to worry about hurricanes! :cool1:

We have been in May, June, and July and I much prefer early June, preferably during Gaydays. I am very decidedly straight (as is my DW and DS) but I love to go during Gaydays. The crowds are lighter than other times and the people are nicer. No hoardes of cheerleaders and Pop Warners and the South American Tour Groups have not yet arrived. Many of the schools are just letting out for the summer and those families with children are not there yet. Many of the other families are not there because of fear of the gays (who are quite nice in my experience). The weather in early June is nice and hurricane season has not yet hit.

Early June isn't bad. It can be hot, but not as bad as July/Aug.

I definitely will take all this advice! Now that my youngest DS has started college I think recess begins mid-May so it's a time to consider. The only problem would be me since I work at a school:sad2:
