MKY: I refuse to watch the weather anymore!!! They are having a hard time predicting this one. They just keep telling us to make sure we have food in the house and get our errands done now.

:scared1::scared1:It is not looking pretty mky and your area is worse. DS said it's already nasty where he is, but he's in the wave of #1 and we are not.

Forecasters are saying it's going to be a nasty few days in our area. 12-20" band with a blizzard watch :scared1:

Normally we are 2-4" max snow or .5" ice so this is quite a storm.

Stay safe everyone :goodvibes

I'd like to know what the flood warning is all about by Lake Michigan in Chicago:scared1:DD will be there next winter...this does not sound like anything that would be any fun:eek:

Thank goodness DS came home last week!!! I would not have made it!:guilty:

They are saying it will start on Tuesday but the worst will arrive overnight Tuesday and Wednesday.

It is going to be quite the storm.

Did all the food shopping this morning TP2- :upsidedow
Looks like we are just having a day of Rain is all so far....RAIN, I can live with at this point !

STAY SAFE EVERYONE !!:grouphug:

Hello All June, July and August planners. I don't post much, but am trying to plan our vacation in August. I have made our reservations at the Beach Club Resort for August 10-19. We can make our ADR's starting on Feb. 11 which I am realizing is only in 10 days. AHHHHH!!! I am so not ready for this yet. I have picked out places that I want to eat at, but the family is not cooperating. So, I may just make all these ADR's according to what I want to do. That is the hardest part. We have 6 day park hoppers (with 2 days of relaxing) with water parks also. I have 3 girls (13,11,11) that love the water so that is the reason for the water park option.

How do you decide what days to go where? I don't know how to even start. I am sure I will be doing all the planning and everyone will be happy in the end, but I am starting to feel stressed out. Any templates or spreadsheets out there to help? I am a spreadsheet person. I love them.

Any help planning would be great. I can't wait to go.

Everyone in bad weather spots, stay safe. I am in the SF Bay Area. Sorry.

Thanks.

Allyson

welcome eskgwin: I avoid EMH days and Mondays at MK are always really busy compared to other days of the week. Some love the EMH, but getting teens up in the am is no longer fun. I know mky had a good EMH morning last summer and it's cooler. Just be careful not too plan too much in a day by getting up early and then staying up late.

SNOW is coming...well, it's here. We'll see how much we get.:scared1:

Tomar: They are saying freezing rain here. May be worse than the snow. They said it is broken bone weather. So I bought milk and hit the post office this morning. Got meat for dinner. We are set. Also bought a 50 pound bucket of rock salt to melt it all.

TP2- Just hoping we don`t loose power ! :scared1:..I hate the Freezing Rain :headache:....Last year we were without power for 72 hours :scared1:...I just can`t think of that again !! OMG ! :scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1:

Hoping everyone has a safe night !:grouphug:

We saw part of the news about Chicago where it told nurses to bring a suitcase as they didn't know when they would get home again:scared1:

Parts of the city lost power here:eek:

they have not called off school yet either so DD and I are studying for her pre calc quiz:rolleyes: it's on POLAR coordinates!;)

The storm arrived earlier this evening. It is blowing REALLY hard and snowing like mad.

They have cancelled the school buses but not school yet. I don't think we have had a snow day in over 15 years but I hope they call one for tomorrow.

:confused3

Snow plows were pulled off the road, tow trucks are banned, the National Guard is helping stranded motorists, and the power is out is some areas (thankfully ours is still on). Calling for 50mph winds tonight and -20s windchill tomorrow night :scared1:

Stay safe and warm everyone :wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard:

:scared1:DH is even home today. We had a call at 5am. That's a first in 25 years! I think we have 12 inches which I am so happy we didn't get more. They pulled the plows here too Minnie...south got hit worse. I hope you are doing okay.

mky: hope you and Bug are doing okay.

My mom said Detroit has 23 inches so Candi I'm not sure what you were hit with.

Now it's in the East and there is another storm tracking that way again too:scared1:
Stay Safe everyone.

We got a lot of snow and it is still coming down.

They closed the schools for the first time since my kids have been going.

I think we may have 8 inches now, but the drifting is bad and that is probably what Detroit is quoting. Anything they get, we usually get since it is only 1/2 mile between us.

So DD15 is still sleeping, DD12 is watching TV and I am working on printing the confirmations and such for our March trip and DH is on a conference call downstairs and waiting to be called out for an outage at any time.

Stay warm and safe everyone.

Some spots south of here have 17 inches of snow:eek:
It is very, very cold too and going to get worse.

:scared1: Yikees, all I can say is it is really bad here. Yes, everything on tv has happened. Yesterday it started by 3pm. I left work it was coming down badly. Since I was on call only 4 hrs I didn't go in early, but they had cots up. At 1am I got up showered, dressed, etc... and went out the garage. Bug, had shoveled once and I probably could of powered through our drift's then, but the street was untouched with snow higher than my knees and this is where the "drifts" where not present. I didn't even think I could get bug's suv down our street. So far it is not plowed at all here. Only main arteries done. I called work, first told I have to be there, so only way that was happening was to walk. My manager told me no way walk here. So that was it, I didn't go in. I am on call again tonight but 8 hrs from 11pm > 7am. Hoping to be plowed by then. It is still snowing here and blowing badly. They are saying alot of this is now lake effect. And the second band of the storm. I think we are up to 20 to 18 inches at this point and really blowing. right now its 18 degrees but dropping, to -4.

Lake shore drive was closed by 8pm last nite. They are saying they had high winds off lake michigan and it was over lake shore drive. Freezing the rode and cars right there. Somebody went down there to see it, and fell in too. Guess they found him this morning. So that was the flooding / area. They had fireman on snowmobiles on lake shore drive, rescuing people. Everything is closed. Except the hospital. I called they are ok this am. Several of day shift got in, and live on main roads so they where plowed.

Watching vader try to get out to the backyard, was a hoot. He is trying to jump drifts and is totally confused. He got busy and ran back asap. Not interested in being out there either. I think it was the first time, he didn't even think about doing the fence line, he walks.

Glad everyone is safe and warm. Candi, it looks like this is all passing you by too. Just cutting across all of us. Nothing on tv here, except for the storm.

EE22, hope you didn't have to go in and DD.

TP2 & Tomar, hoping this misses you guys.

eskwgin, welcome, If your new to planning. I would recommend if you bought the "unofficial guide" to join there website. www.touringplans.com They give you a great deal of info about how to pick which park / which day. That is my first thing. You need to pick where to be ahead and plan dining around that. For dining: check out www.allearsnet.com for menu's and ideas. Good luck. I will be down in august too. Right now planning CR tower.

Happy planning everyone, and be safe. mky:cutie:

MKY: You sure got hit hard. We had ice. My kids had a 2 hour delay but DH started with the delay and then they called back to cancel all together. Not sure why, it is really just a lot of puddles and mess now. Maybe down power lines or something.

Hoping that things will start to change. Glad to see some melting here. We are just so sick of the mess at this point.

EE22: Sounds like everyone is having things happen that have never before. So crazy this year with the weather. First time I am actually getting concerned about the whole climate change. Last summer was so hot and now this winter is so cold. I like the moderates much better. Maybe 35 -40 in winter and 80 - 85 in the summer.

Good Morning Guys :surfweb:

MKY- Sooooo glad you posted !!, was watching the news last night and saw that they actually closed down the.. "Lake Shore Drive"...was thinking about you, and hoping you were safe !!
We are ok here in Jersey, some places had power outages from icing, but here in our neck of the woods , we experienced mostly rain....THANK GOD !!
Schools are open here, as Ive seen the buses pass already, and if anything, we are having a litlle melting of the mountains of snow we have accumulated over the last 7 storms....
E22- Seems like you guys had a rough night as well.....if you are home today, Enjoy the rest !!! (Huge Angel Smiley)
EVERYONE THINK.............SPRING !!!:flower3:....Can`t wait .....
All I can say is...............So Much for "Global Warming"....ICK !:headache:

Stay warm and safe everyone !!:grouphug:

We are doing okay...south of here is worse...17+ I guess.
This is sort of typical for winter here I suppose and I'm glad the heavy bands went south of here. 12 inches is what we had here.

The University of Iowa called off classes for part of the morning...not sure how long now...they had more snow than we did. I guess that hasn't happened in many years.

DS doesn't even have class.

I hope a storm like this doesn't hit Chi Town again...having DD so close to the lake next year doesn't seem like a good thing!!

It would seem the University of Iowa called off classes all together.

AND!!! The HAY AUCTION IS OFF!! only in Iowa..............
