June, July, August PLANNING thread

Looks like this may be thread where I belong....

We are saving for a two week stay at the POLY for JULY 2011 - I thought I was being overly anxious by thinking about planning/reservations....

but I just went to check availability for JULY 2010 - and the POLY (concierge) is already booked full!!!!!!!

So how far in advance can I (or SHOULD I) try to reserve July 2011??

How much $$ will I need to reserve those dates?

Usually they open the year for bookings in August, so for your trip it would be the first weekend of August in 2010. It will require a $200 for each reservation and then depending on if you book a package or not the balance may be due 45 days out or upon arrival. For our last trip, we booked 2 weeks but needed 2 rooms. We had to put a $400 deposit down because of the 2 rooms. Each room required its own deposit.

MKY: Loved the video and pictures. My younger 2 girls would have been deathly afraid. They did not like Snow White. For the first time I saw the trees moving on that ride. I have never seen that before. I have to say that the more crowded a ride was (we were caught there in a rainstorm) the more effects that seemed to be working. I had always thought that ride was just a bunch of cardboard cutouts but this trip things were moving in there. Much scarier than I remembered.

Happy Labour Day !

Well the kids go back to school tomorrow. DD14 starts high school this year. Everyone says now is when the fun begins.

Hopefully she will be good and get great grades so that a scholarship will come her way. University here is way cheaper than the US but it can still be expensive.

The dog got sprayed by a skunk the other night. We have washed her with the skunk shampoo four times and she still smells terrible. The whole house stinks. DH thought she was chasing a cat around under the truck....yep, no cat there. I bet she was sprayed more than once because she smelt so bad.

DH14 came downstairs because she thought something was on fire it was so strong.

I bet I go to work and everyone says I smell like skunk. At least I will be sharing the pain. I will have to be sure and stand really close to the nasty ones.

Got cancelled at work [on call] and so I get a little bit of the long weekend.

Candi, Congrat's on DD starting HS! She will be fine, one day at a time.

Tomar, Hope your having a great visit! and future I am sure the will not want to leave.

TP2, I have not noticed the trees [or forgot about them]. Will have to look again. I love when I find something in a favorite, that we have not seen before.

WDWdancerwannaB, Welcome. Keep in mind, this far out there is sure to be cancellations so check every once in a while. Your still likely to get what you want. Shortly, after the new rates are released the AAA rates are also released so people grab ressies quickly and then alter from there. Good luck!

Did anyone see the info about southwest? Paying $10.00 and you get automatic boarding assigned at 36 hrs before everyone else? This will make the return flight so much better. I had to beg and almost bride at mk in july to get an A.

I saw it too MKY! The only problem is, will everyone pay the extra $10 to sign in 36 hours early? Then we will all be in the same boat but paying more money. I wonder how it will work out. Also, they let my family board with the lowest number boarding pass, so if I pay the money and get A1, lets say, does my entire family board at that time? Just being the devil in this one.

Well, I think the race now is: the earlier you book the higher on the list you will be? And you have to be a member of SW club or you can't do it. Since I always changing my flights I wonder how that works? If you've paid for it > it must transfer with the flight? I would guess, but no idea about your place in line.

Just wanted to pop on ...and tell you all that we are having a BLAST with the Perfectly Princess.......
She is truely a "Wanna be " Disney Princess ...and Grampa and Gramma can`t wait to introduce her to all of them REAL SOON !!!!!
we are taking alot of pictures. so you will get to see them as soon as Gramma rests up a bit after they leave on Friday ....

Hi Everyone: Just wanted to remind everyone that the Mickey Moms Panel is taking applications starting today. I filled mine out, lets hope! At least we got to attend the special fireworks at Epcot this August. It was special and worth the time it took to write the essays.

If I were to add a banner it would be for August 2010. A girl can dream right! Don't really care what resort, maybe even ASMovies this time. Who knows!

MKY: No, DH has not heard yet! But a girl can dream right? DD5 was asking today when we are going back. I said, we just got home. She said I know we did but I miss it so much already. I think shes hooked, even though she missed a lot of stuff while there. She was too scared.

I can't believe you leave again so soon. How long are you going for? I have to agree that one week is just not enough time. I remember you getting back from your July trip. When we hit our first week ending, I could not even imagine going home yet. We were just getting into our groove!

There is a princess contest going on. You submit a photo of your daughter in a princess outfit or with a princess and write an essay. You win a trip for 4 to Disney. I always wonder, what would I do with 5 people in my party? Maybe leave DH home. But seriously, would they let me pay for one person?

Did anyone else sign up for Moms Club? MKY you know more than anyone. You should be right in there.

Hi TP2,

You are too funny. I wrote the essay for the 1st mom's club. Thinking, "take a different look at wdw" by someone with alot of children experience, but also unable to be a mom. An adult point of view.
When I won that wdw trip for the 25th anniv. it was for 4. I just took bug and our parents. It was easier than trying to pick a friend, or other family members. They where older, and did alot of stuff by themselves. My dad was horrible. c/o about everything. Then he got sick the last day. I so regretted my descision. Now, I would probably just take bug and not use the "other 2 people". The tax would be cheaper in the long run. I haven't entered the mom's thing since. Haven't been very impressed with their website. It is pretty basic stuff at best.

Our trip in Oct is for 15 nites. Going for the week, you keep thinking, "this is our only time at ak, mgm, we have only a certain amount of time and need to do this..... . It was rather commando. And mky don't do commando well. I like to have an "idea" for the day. Adr's and park picked and then wing it. How much time, what else to do. pool, or relax? It was just to quick. I just kept telling myself 3 months and your going back.

MKY: I did not even think about the tax. In that case, can I add extra nights on? I may as well get my airfare taxes moneys worth!

I hear ya on the parent thing. We keep it a secret until the end because we don't want them jumping onto the trip.

I see exactly what you mean about the one week thing. The first week I was very laid back, like you explained. But the second week, everytime it was the last day to hit a park, we were commando. DH knew our last MK day would be BAD so he let me go with the kids and met me there. Worked out much better that way.

TP2, my "free" trip to wdw for 4 for 4 nites = 1400.00 in taxes. I wonder how much I could of gotten the same trip for? I don't think they gave us any discounts.

MKY: That is an insane price for taxes. I remember reading about people complaining about that. One person fought it, not sure how, but got the taxes reduced to a price if they had booked it themselves. Maybe an accountant did it. If you average taxes at 10% that is a $14,000 vacation for 4 days????? Sounds wrong.
