Hiya everyone!

Yesterday we lost power at 12pm and out all day till 9:30pm.:confused3 Well I got a bunch of nursing credits completed and mailed them in today. All per flash light.:( And after the stormed moved on > did it get hot without the ac. Lots of tornado action around here yesterday but we got lucky.:thumbsup2 Everyone is ok.

Look out east coasters> we are sending some bad weather. Sorry. I got it from EE22.;)

Happy planning, mky:cutie:

MKY- We lost power yesterday at 2 pm...and it wasn`t restored until the same time 9:00 pm !!:scared1: ....It was and still is Sweltering here !! 101 degrees in parts of New Jersey today !!
we really felt like we were melting ..:faint: ...with No AirCon for so many hours !!
Congrats on your nursing credits ! :goodvibes

DL11- Congrats on getting your Permit !! Happy Driving !! :drive:

Happy Tuesday everyone!
We survived the pool party Saturday! DD11 had a great time - and her "boyfriend" showed up, so all is well with the world. ;)

EE22 - I can't believe your ticker says 16 days!!! :dance3: You're getting all packed! How exciting!!! I haven't even started yet ........ :worried:

DL11 - Congrats on your permit!!! :drive: You'll driver your parents crazy in the process, but it'll all work out! Just don't run into this guy ..... ::cop:
:scared1:

So ...... what's with all the power outages!?! :confused3 BOTH Chicago & NJ yesterday? I have a friend in the Dallas/Fort Worth area who was telling me yesterday that they lost power at her office several times during the day. Each time, as she was working on big projects! :headache: Is it the heat???

We hit 98 yesterday! They said 94, but we went over ...... Supposed to "cool" off to the mid 80's the rest of the week - with scattered thunderstorms (some severe) this afternoon/evening! Of course ............

DD11, my mom and I are all going to see Mama Mia at the Fabulous Fox tonight!!! :woohoo:

Hope everyone is having a great wednesday. I am on my new computer. My old laptop finally died. So had to go shopping. Been planning on this since before christmas, but it held out longer than I thought. This new laptop is pretty nice and a lot quicker. :hyper: Stayed with HP even thou, I really scouted a Sony.:stir:

Tomar, if I had know the power was gonna be out all day, I would of been down at the holiday inn. Getting some AC, and swimming.;) That was really miserable.

EE22, Hope things clear up soon your way. These floods are really serious. Maybe it will stop raining soon. :wizard:

Mouseaddicts, when do you go again. I have a favor to ask: anywhere good to stay overnite on the south side of atlanta or past on south side, if we drive through? Something, clean, and safe, on 75?

Mky:cutie:

Things here are very bad. Cedar Rapids is flooded downtown and all the bridges except for one are closed. Hopefully, it will stay open. There is also a curfew. More rain is due. Our county is under a boil water order for private wells so I hope that's not a problem. I didn't think I'd live through another flood like this one again.:worried:

EE22 - I hope y'all are okay! I have been watching the situation out there and see things are BAD! :worried: Best wishes for your safety! Maybe if you have to stay inside, you can just concentrate on your packing! ;)

MKY - We are going in 21 days!!! We leave exactly 3 weeks from today - July 3rd. We both get off work early that day, so we're hoping to leave our house by 2:00/2:30 PM ........ to arrive at POR around 10:30 that night! :thumbsup2

I will ponder over your hotel question. There are some locations on the south side - or just below Atlanta - that you could stay. Is this for August '08 or March '09?

TOMAR & EE22 (and DL11) ....... we are getting CLOSE!!! :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

Ohhhh TP2 - I almost forgot ......... The book we have about Washington DC is called "The Everything Family Guide to Washington D.C." by Lori Perkins. It has a cartoon drawn looking front cover. I'm sure you could order it off Amazon if you don't feel like searching the bookstore. It has a TON of useful info about touring plans, restaurants, etc. We are planning to go within the next couple of years, so I'll be using it as my resource guide! Just thought I'd share!

Things are getting worse here....not good.
Marion may lose power and parts already have in Marion now. The river is 12 feet over flood stage in Cedar Rapids and they thought it would go to 24 feet, but now they are saying 25 feet :worried:
I80 is suppose to close and I380 is the only way over the river and they are not sure how long that will stay open and we are not suppose to use it either.

A railroad bridge collasped in downtown too and the cars are heading for another bridge downstream.

The worse is still to come...more rain and more coming from up stream.:(

EE22 - I hope everything is okay on the flood front. It really is bad this year. I will send you some pixie dust. pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

MKY - my brother always stays outside of Atlanta because it is cheaper. I see that flights have come down a bit for March 09. I am hoping they come down a bit more because I really don't want to drive.

Work is :scared: crazy this week and it will be until we have our summer shut down in July.

My Magic Express package arrived today! :cloud9: I can only imagine how excited how Tomar and EE22 are getting about their trips.

EE - If your in CR then I'm only a couple hours from you. My DF spent the day sandbagging at work today. Scarry stuff!

I'm working on our itinerary for our trip. Managed to fine an okay rate on Airtran so we booked the flight and thank goodness we did as the rates skyrocketed!

I can't believe we are getting sooooo close :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Hiya everyone!

EE22, I hope you are doing ok. I know it is still raining, cause they are showing on our news storms headed here tonight from Iowa. We are all worried about you. Stay dry and safe. Hopefully this rain will stop soon. pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:  Hang on.

Candi, I would think we are probably about the same distance to wdw from each other, you are a little more east, and we are a little more south. Yes, the drive will be long. But I got another notice from United, Baggage charges are changing, luckily we get back 2 days before the next set of changes hit. I am just getting tired of the announcements & changes. Airport BS. Usually takes a full day any way. If we can drive straight through past atlanta, and if we stop south of there, should only need another 8 - 10 hrs? What is the magical express package? Am I missing out on goodies?

Mouseaddict's for march 09'. We already are booked with united and National rental car now for august. Plus don't think I could lock max in the car that long. Way to much ADHD onboard.:hyper:

On the positive side: EE22, Tomar, and Mouseaddict's all going to the world SOON!:dance3:  :woohoo: :yay: :dance3: Yeah!

TP2, when is your trip in the East?

happy packing and planning! mky:cutie:

EE22- Please stay safe !!!!!!! Lots of Pixie Dust going out to you and your family... and to Minnie too....I pray that the rain stops... and the floods subside out there !!!
pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

WE are packing away now...and starting to get soooooooooo excited !!!!
party: party: party: party: party: party: party: party:

It's raining again here tonight. Indian Creek a mile from here flooded today, but we are okay. The road up to the high school is closed as it's flooded. Cedar Rapids is bad. Iowa City is going to be really bad too. They have water restrictions on for CR, but not here yet. The water was suppose to reach 24 feet...flood stage I think was 12 feet on the Cedar River...it's up to nearly 26 feet and they said it will crest tomorrow at nearly 32 feet. Major damage to the Univeristy of Iowa will occur at 29 feet from the Iowa River and it's suppose to go above 30 feet and I'm sure that's going higher now too.

Earlier they issued a boil water order for Marion, but it was not accurate. I did go buy bottled water though.

Seeing pictures of downtown CR with all that water is just incredible. There were semi trailors floating downstream, freezers, sofas, desks....

Tornado weather is on its way too....

I win for the worst weather now for sure!

On the up side...I'm pretty much packed and we could grab and run although most of the major highways are closed so there's no place to go....:moped:

EE22 ...... Sending prayers & pixie dust your way!!! It's at the stage where it only gets worse before it gets better it sounds. :worried: I hope you & your family stay safe through it all. Please keep checking in to let us know you're okay!

MKY ..... WDW is less than 8 hrs from Atlanta. We are just over an hour NE of Atlanta & it's only about 7.5-8 hrs for us. If you stay South of Atlanta, you're looking at 6.5 hrs or less to WDW! :woohoo:

Candi .... I'd love to see cruise pics! I'll send ya a PM! :thumbsup2 I know all about work stress these days! Been a hectic week here .... but with the bad weather in the midwest, it just may get a LOT worse! :headache:

Tomar ...... you are an inspiration! I haven't started the packing process yet. I've done a TON of laundry today though. :faint: Gotta start dragging out suitcases soon.

EE22, hands down you are winning the weather poll. Nasty winter and now this. Stay dry. Good idea to buy the water, if you have it you won't need it.

Mouseaddict's don't you just keep you suitcases packed? You just got back. :bitelip: ;) I am pretty sure we are planning on driving. Unless we change our mind in august.:stir:

minnie, congrat's on your airfare. :yay:

mky:cutie:

I missed so much, have not gotten any notifications.

EE22: Worried about you.:worried: Have not heard from you in awhile now so I am assuming you either lost power or internet. Stay safe and dry.

You are all so close ladies.:cool1: I am missing our trip for this summer. :( I think I am going to take out the video from last year to get my fill. We leave on July 10 for our trip. I am still hoping for a room in Virginia Beach instead of staying in Washington DC. VB will be much closer to Williamsburg plus it will be more relaxing. Rooms in VB are all starting around $250 per night.

Mouseaddicts: Thanks for the info on the DC book. As you can see, I am not too excited about it. I have to change my attitude about it though for DD9's sake.

DD11: Congrats on your permit.:moped: :cool1: I understand your moms concerns though.:lovestruc Be easy on her!;)

Morning All...we are still okay here although things in Cedar Rapids are bad. One of the hospitals is evacuating. Limited water use to drinking water only because only one well is working. Marion has to limit sewage use as well where we are. I think the Cedar River crested, but I'm not sure. I think life is going to grind to a halt here today. I'm not sure what the limited water use in Cedar Rapids and Robins will do around here.

A news report this morning said the buildings downtown would take 30 days to get back to normal with repairs, drying, etc and I am not sure what people will do with no work for a month.:confused3

Our school district was hit. The football field has turned into a river and I'm sure one of the elementary buildings flooded if not two of them. All activities are off so I'm not sure how bad things are.

Tomar ...... you are an inspiration! I haven't started the packing process yet. I've done a TON of laundry today though. :faint: Gotta start dragging out suitcases soon.
mouseaddicts- I really thought you would have a great big heads up since you just came home from the world memorial weekend :goodvibes
I know the kids` luggage will probably take some time though ;) ...
Happy Packing !! :cool1:

EE22, hands down you are winning the weather poll. Nasty winter and now this.

mky:cutie:

MKY- I totally agree !!:worried: EE22- has had it rough this year !
Praying for better days in the "Field of Dreams"...:cloud9:

I missed so much, have not gotten any notifications.

TP2- I know how you feel ....but...make the best of this new adventure this year ! Next summer will come in a Blink !
Your leavng on a great day !! July 10th ;)

EE22- Im watching our local news and getting all the updates of the Field of Dreams.....I pray especially ...that the sun will come out and and that the water in CR will drain rapidly for you... and for those folks directly affected by the floods STAY SAFE EE22 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK Ladies ......on a brighter side .......
Tomar ...is now in the TEENS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:dance3: :woohoo: :dance3: :woohoo: :dance3: :woohoo: :dance3:

There is only one well left in CR open and waters are approaching rapidly. If that goes, there will be no drinking water for the City of Cedar Rapids. The river still has not crested.

Not good.

The hospital that was evacuated is outside of the 500 year flood plain.

I didn't think things could go downhill more, but they are. CR still has rising waters and another bridge may go down. I-80 is closed to the east of Iowa City with two feet of water over the interstate and the flood waters have not even reached there yet. We are north of Iowa City.

120,000 people in CR may not have water or a boil order. The conservation going on now will last for WEEKS they say. This happened in Des Moines in 93 when their water supply was hit...it was 12 days before they had water again.

Hiya everyone,

Very worried about you EE22, CR has been all over the news this am. Storms are headed here so I know they have been all over you this morning. Glad to see you checked in, means you still have power.

Wow, everyone is July this year. I am going to be all alone. Just dreaming of our trip. At least we leave july 31st, so guess techniqually we are july too?;)

Tomar in teens, everybody get your suitcases.
