June/July/August 2006 Code watch

I have a rack rate reservation for POFQ for June 10 – 18. I'd like to upgrade to AKL pool view or apply the code to my existing reservation if a good AP comes out. I will be cruising on the Magic western cruise the week of June 3 – 10. If I have someone watch my reservation and apply the code, will I have to take the deposit penalty if the change is within the five-day window?

Good morning, :grouphug:

Not really hopeful here either. and we have the same weather. Weather guy just said cold and rainy through next week. :confused3 yuk!

Just rechecked sites, (just in case) and nothing changed. Sis talked to a talkative cm last nite, and said they didn't know for sure, but she was very doubtful, at this point, but we could keep trying.
That's what mine said too pretty much.

However, I find it interesting the responses when they think you don't have a reservation and when they know that you do. When they think you don't, they encourage you to book and when they know you do, they tell me to keep trying because I'm sure they have seen people cancel here recently. I find it amusing :)

It seems they are pushing DVC now. I go to another board and there is this very annoying popup of Dumbo. It is all about the DVC. And on America's Funniest Home Video last night they gave away a 45 year membership into the DVC. So unfortunatly I think they may be changing their focus and redirecting their promotions. :sad2:

Thanks for calling folks. At least I'm now getting in a workout with Denise Austin on these check AP rates mornings.

DVC seems expensive to me. Maybe I just don't understand it. My family will only stay at AKL anyway so it wouldn't work for us and now we won't be able to get back for some time anyway.

DVC is expensive, but if there won't be any more AP codes, it may be the best deal in future. Of course, I won't be going more than once a year on DVC as I would with AP...

I agree and that my family and I have to go during July 4th every year(the only time my DH gets vacation) it would price us out of the points for a yearly visit. In the ad they show a Dad going up to the counter to check out and the CM says your all set. And the Dad goes on and on about how he loves that. Ummm what do you love Having Disney control your $$ and vacation $$'s? I prefer to travel there the years that I want to not feel like I have to every year. I am just not a time share person.

I went to a DVC presentation, just to get a better understanding of it. There's no doubt, over time, you will save money. However, it is pricey, and if your credit is less than stellar - Forget it. You won't get financed. Which leaves you the option of paying $15,000 up front. Not sure about you guys, but I sure don't have that kind of money.

I think it seems pricey to someone that usually stays in mod or deluxe resorts. DVC allows those that don't want to pay deluxe prices to stay in deluxe accomodations. I think it would be a lot cheaper for me to go DVC but I like to stay at least 30 days at the Poly each year. That includes weekends and whenever I feel like taking a trip. I don't want to have to avoid weekends, stay at other resorts and so on. I find it much nicer to do it my why and I just enjoy the Poly so much. The thought of staying in a condo while at Disney just doesn't do it for me.

You poor thing what does DH do that he is forced to Vacation July 4th? only?

The DVC does not work like other times shares. You can bank points to use the next year. Rumor has it Disney just bought land in Vegas for the DVC.
I would love to buy into it but DH is not ready. It is a great deal if you stay deluxe. I like that you can go anytime a year.
