:rotfl: the Promenade Lounge definitely still exists and is a great place for a meet. Usually it's 3 pm so everybody can meet up before the life boat drill and the sail away party.

I vote for Promenade Lounge on embarkation day 3 pm

I actually meant the lounge too but was too lazy to write the rest down. :rotfl:

I just looked at the deck map on the DCL site adn the Promenade lounge is still on deck 3.
You're right, I stand corected, I thought it was on deck 4, and could not find it. It would be a good place to meet, if we can make it on the day of sailing! I'll vote for it :cheer2::cheer2: RoseW

Joining the club :cool1: Got ours today party:

Hey, since we're both in Socal, maybe I'll get ours by monday?....hope so! I have a question for you, I remember you mentioned before that you'll visit the Catacombs in Palermo on your own, How are you gonna do this? Is it close to the port by train/bus? We are booked thru DCL (Mysterious Palermo) but thinking of canceling because the tour is not til 1pm.....

I will update the Roll Call list tomorrow as well as FE list (so far only 4 participants) and to those who wanted to be seated on the same dining let me know ( Tod&Copper's TA will link the reservations).

I got my documents and tags today (well I guess technically yesterday!) too! I was so excited to read thru the booklet, I had tears in my eyes! My mom thought I had lost it! She's never been and this is my 3rd... she doesn't understand! I think the 3pm promenade lounge is good... My biggest problem is remembering! I totally missed the meet last cruise! Oops! And I guess if there are only 4 of us doing the FE, it might not be worth it...

BUT, what about our group (like all of us) doing a door magnet exchange. We could have a "logo" for our group on a magnet and then each person could add a magnet (either bought or made) that represents where they're from or their family or whatever. Then all our doors would be decorated but the magnets wouldn't take up much space in the luggage. Then when you're home, your fridge can look like your stateroom door! Anyone interested in doing something like that?

I might be interested in door magnets but I haven't the slightest idea how to make them and my printer is soooooo old, it might not be able to do it.

I vote for Promenade Lounge at 3 pm too ... or whenever. LOL

On another note, I was reading a room service thread and somebody said there are no Mickey ice cream bars on the Med cruise. :scared1:

For magnets, the simplest way is to print something on cardstock and but one of those rolls of magnets and stick it in the back. You can get fancier by "laminating" them with contact pape or even fancier would be buying the actual magnet paper at office max that will go thru your printer. Way fast and easy! ;)

did you get us for the roll call? We did the FE on our last cruise and it was fab. Daunting at first as there were around 90 rooms! But in someway easier as it meant a straight forward

small gift per room, does it work the same for such a small group or would you then aim for more personal individual gifts for each person in the room? I love the magnet idea for everyone though.

Ack - so we have still not been able to book our cruise! We are all set for it, but our final payment for our Disney wedding got pushed back and now we are at our credit card's limit so we haven't been able to book the cruise yet. I am hoping that we can book it on Tuesday and still get a stateroom with a verandah. It looks like they are still available through the DCL website.

Anyway, another question (I read through this whole thread, but didn't see the answer... sorry if it's already been asked). Does anyone know how long it really takes to get from the port to the airport? Also, does Disney provide ground transport between the port and airport? In FL, they do, so I am hoping the same is true in Spain because I don't really want to bust out my Spanish and try to get us a cab!

I am looking at airfare (hoping to use credit card points after paying off the wedding!) and it looks like the latest flight I can get OUT of BCN (to IAD; Washington DC) is at 10:40. I am guessing we would need to be at the airport at 8:40 then which would mean we'd have to get off the ship pretty early. :( I am not opposed to booking a night somewhere in Barcelona if that plan sounds insane?

Also, I read on the DCL website that boarding typically begins at 10:30am for the Euro cruises. I'm hoping to get us on an overnight flight which would get us into BCN around 9am. Will that be too early to head straight to the port? What's around the port? I've heard people talk about shipping bottled water/snacks to the port in Orlando... is this permissible/a good idea in Spain?

3pm Promenade Lounge works for me but I may be solo. DH & DD will hopefully be napping ;)

No Mickey bars?!?!?! :scared: DD will be devastated.

Love the magnet idea! We should come up with a name for our Dis group logo... Magical Med Adventure 2011, Mickey's Med-Summer Holiday 2011, Yo-ho let's go explore the Med, Feel the Magic of the Med 2011… Anyone got ideas?!?! :)

3 PM meet time should be OK. The FE list is small, but that means it will just be easier and quicker to hand out "stuff". Our kids are looking forward to it. :thumbsup2

For those who are doing the ports on their own, the tkts for Pisa just went on sale. Tickets for the Vatican are also on sale as well.

Let's do this on the 9th. According to my map, the Promade Lounge no longer exists.
OPTIONS: Probably somewhere on deck 9...maybe at Topsiders in the very rear of the boat. Or on deck 3, if the children will be joining us, I think they serve breakfast in Parrott Cay. Some of the children will be in the Disney Clubs. We could all sit together for breakfast. If we decide to meet later in the day, maybe the Goofy Pool, but away from the crowds. I think a vote would be fine. One vote for time, another for place.
RoseW :cheer2::cheer2:

Sorry we cant do breakfast we have Palo scheduled for the 9th.

First the Promenade Lounge doesn’t exist :rotfl2: and now no Disney Bars :scared1: What’s going on :confused3

I love the idea of magnets now that's something we can definitely do :thumbsup2. We normally decorate our door anyway :)

Probably the easiest way would be to take a taxi. We were planning on just walking to the center of town getting a city map and some bus info from the local tourist information office and deciding whether we will take a taxi or public bus. From the information I have gathered it sounds pretty easy you take a bus to Piazza Indipendenza and can walk from there. If we do decide to take a taxi we will definitely negotiate a price beforehand though.
Oh and I read that the admission is about 3Euro pretty inexpensive attraction!
Were you planning on going in the morning?

Hiya sorry I havne't worked out how to do the proper quoting thing yet! Hope you manage to get the finances pulled together in time to book what you want. I thought we booked late, but we must have been signed up for, oooh, a couple of weeks now :rotfl2:

I am trying to remember how long the transfer took last time. Its a bit of a blur as I haven't had more than a couple of hours continuous sleep for over 4 years now thanks to the kiddies, I'm a bit vague about most things! It wasn't long, maybe half an hour? Just checked an old Passporter and it says 40 mins. When we went last time we booked last minute too and didn't dare get an early flight so ended up with a late one which was then delayed and it made for a long tiring day with a baby. But I'm not experienced enough at travel to know if you could make that early flight. I'm guessing Disney will let you off early if you need though.

When we went to the Med last time there was a monumental mess with the boat docking and boarding so I am just hoping what you heard about 10.30 is right! Last time we literally climbed on board, grabbed the life jackets and headed to the drill. Not a relaxing start at all. From what I remember about the port itself there was next to nothing, maybe a small newsagent or too get essential drinks etc. For some reason they checked us in past this into the main hall where there was nothing to do and we stood there for a few hours!

Hopefully this trip will be smoother :-) Though we are cursed. When sailing from Dover last year (maybe 30/40 mins drive from our home) we left our car at the port and got back to find the battery drained and the imobiliser scrambled as the boat radar signals or something had been setting the alarm over the week it had been there :rotfl: you've got to laugh!

Getting a taxi is really really easy outside the airport, we did it last year and they speak good english.

With regard to water, we just plan to buy a few every day when we are in the ports and take a few spares back for the room. There is a bottled water package available from DCL, so you could check out the price.

MICKEY BARS

If I remember rightly from last year's med cruises, it wasn't that they didn't have any Mickey bars, they only stocked so many and when they were gone, that was it, they couldn't get them re-stocked.

We are on are early med cruise, so hopefully there may be a few left, if those eastbound transatlantic cruisers haven't eaten them all :scared1: :lmao:

Kit, we were on the Dover to Barcelona repo cruise last year too :woohoo:

If anybody is staying at the AC Diplomatic before the cruise, they're supposed to have a free mini bar in the rooms, stocked with water, pop and juice. We're there the night before the cruise and will instruct the parents and brother to grab the drinks for the cruise. LOL ;)
