Wondering if anyone has taken a med.cruise before and had any packing tips? I want to keep luggage to as much of a minimum as possible (esp b/c I will want to bring home many souvenirs). Also looking for recommendations for a cute but comfortable light weight walking sandal.

I'm wondering how many english speaking folks vs. other languages.... kids will be able to work it out with anyone though I guess! And lots of europe folks speak english...

As for packing... we are bringing only a 20 inch carryon each to Europe (plus a tiny backpack each), for cruise, and our before/after trips. I think I am only bringing like 2 capris, 2 skirts and a dress. Plus various tops, bathing suit of course. We will be doing laundry every couple days. I am trying to pick things that can go double duty! We may likely skip formal night and hang at the pool! Unless I can get creative about how to look formal-ish without bringing extra stuff!

They have a section about shoes, plus lots of other helpful tips. Their traveler's helpline is good too - but not really cruise specific, most of them are anti-cruise. But good info nonetheless!

After reading posts from Kim's friend, I am interested in doing a private tour with Rome Connection(?) so we can climb the Leaning Tower and see the David in Florence. Fares drop drastically if you have a full car...We are a party of 3 and would love to have 3-5 people join our group. If you are interested, please contact me. Hi everyone!

We've not booked yet, but looking at this Med cruise - there's me, my DH and DD (who will be 4 when we go)

We've done two (non Disney) cruises before DD was born and loved them and we've just come back from 5 days at DLRP and definitely want some Disney in our next holiday - so we thought this would be a perfect mix!

We're from the UK and the plan is to do half-day trips in port so not to tired out DD!

Just comparing various TAs to try to get the best price for us and hopefully will be booked by the end of the month.

Love the idea of Fish Extenders, so will get involved in that!

Also, if no one else has done a FB page yet, happy to get that going - let me know

We just booked this cruise yesterday after returning from DVC Member cruise on the Dream. I was hoping to book the 12 day cruise, but am pleased we are able to do this one. I can't wait to start planning the details! It will just be me and DS (16).

Hello y'all! We just booked the Magic to the Med on 6/7/14! We cruised the Magic out of Galveston this past April and LOVED it! We can't wait to see what improvements dry dock will bring.

So far, the cruisers include my husband (Bill), me (Kim) and our kids: Clara (8 at time of cruise) and Miles (5), along with my parents (Rita and Louie). Bill and I turn 40 this year, so this is a bit of a birthday celebration for us (better than the alternative, right)? My parents and kids have never been out of the country (except the Caribbean, Canada, Mexico). We are really looking forward to it!

I signed up for the FE exchange (although I hadn't yet joined disboards when I signed up, so I didn't include a disboards name. I also requested to be added to the FB page . . . can't wait to "meet" you all before the cruise, and get some tips/advice!

Getting excited... we are less than 8 months out now!

I spent the afternoon planning our Pisa/Lucca days after the cruise. Making maps, taking notes, etc... I feel like I really need to get started since time is going to pass so quickly. I can't believe it's already been like 8 or 10 months since we booked!!

I am new to the FE exchange, but am all in. Do you have any idea on the participation rate--is it generally 10 cabins, 50 cabins or unknown til just before we leave?

I'm thinking ours would be pretty small, maybe 10-15?

Hello - me, DH and DD (6) are on this cruise and I wondered if someone could shed some light on how we sign up for the fish extender? We are Brits from London and although this isn't our first time on the Magic, it'll be our first time doing the fish extender which we saw lots of people doing on the last cruise. I am a newbie and don't want to get it wrong - is it just a case of completing the google form and submitting and then nearer the time someone will let me know numbers (in order to know how many gifts to take) and which cabin numbers etc? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.

Yes, when we get a bit closer, I will close the exchange (about 2 months prior I think is good), and send the info.

We currently have 6 cabins, total of 18 people.

Wonderful Kim, thank you so much. We were on the Magic around the Med back in 2011 (it was a 10 night and included a few extra ports) and we are SO excited to go back again. eeek, only 119 days...not that I'm counting or anything
