June 5, 2016 - Magic Goes to England, Ireland, Scotland and France

Hello!

Can you add us to the sailing list as well. Jennifer, Jonathan and dd Eleanor (age 3) and dd Emmeline (age 1). We're traveling from Hawaii

1. favorite characters: daughters love princesses, especially rapunzel
2. first Europe cruise
3. This is adults 5th Disney cruise, Eleanor's 3rd and emmeline's 2nd.
4. Really excited about invergordon and Wales.
5. Girls wake up at 6 am, whether we like it or not.
6. kids can't do either. We spend a lot of our time at the Oceaneers club and toddler pool.
7. Palo for soufflé. Yum.

Welcome Kwork11 and Suzysharp and families! I'll add you to the who's sailing list in the second post of the thread.

Hygienist999, we are also spending the night at Gatwick after debarking the ship. We are using Coastal Cars to get from Dover to Gatwick by way of Canterbury. We are staying at the Hilton at the south terminal at Gatwick based on another DCLer's recommendation. Here's the link: http://www3.hilton.com/en/hotels/united-kingdom/hilton-london-gatwick-airport-GATHITW/index.html

We're flying Gatwick to Orlando.

nzdisneymom, we are taking the Disney Ground Transfer to the Sofitel Hotel at the Airport. Thanks for the link for the Hilton. Disney took care of making our reservation at the Sofitel. We are then taking a train into London and getting on the Hop on Hop off Bus. We too are flying Gatwick to Orlando, then driving almost 6 hours home to Georgia. We are only 2 hours from Atlanta airport, but there would have been layovers. Last year we did the Norwegian Cruise and Northern European cruise and on the way home we missed a connection, due to a delayed departure, and had to spend the night in Boston. We do not want to risk this happening again.

just booked palo and shore excursions and spa. Saw they have pirate night listed twice. Cannot imagine it while in Dublin. Now that you can book BBB why not adult fun like wine tastings???

We were going to take DCL transfers to the Sofitel and stay there, too, but the Hilton ended up being less expensive for us and we are able to use Coastal Cars and do some sightseeing on the way back for less than DCL wanted for transfers for the four of us. We loved the Hop On Hop Off bus in London - it's a great way to see the city.

We have a 4 1/2 hour drive from Orlando, and we, too, often fly from ATL but the non-stop from MCO was a better schedule and price than we could get from ATL this year - plus we always go a day early so we have a hotel expense which we're using DVC points in Orlando rather than staying at an ATL hotel. We're going to spend the night in Orlando after we get back, too, because we know how brutal that drive home can be for us post-flight. Yay for DVC :)

We're flying out on June 2nd and coming back on June 18th - so it sounds like we may be on the same flight at least on the 18th?? I can't remember our departure time but we get back to MCO around 3 PM. If you're on the same flight going, we'll have to be sure to meet up at the airport to say Hey before boarding :)

Got all of our Palo reservations, spa times, and port adventures booked last night. One of our port excursions did not have the adult only option showing up last night but it was there this morning and was able to easily change the choice. We got everything we wanted! Whoo hoo!!

we booked a few things last night, along with Palo reservations. We are really looking into doing local private tours at most ports. Still trying to figure out what we are going to do in Dublin.

Could someone check and see what day(s) still have Palo brunch available for booking? That's the one thing we for sure want to do - I just need a table for two!

Glad platinum was able to book. My booking window doesn't open for another month. I think DH and I will need to split up and one go make Palo brunch reservations as I know they hold some back while the other gets the tickets for the Princess Meet etc.

Very excited that in less 4 months we will be sailing away!!!

Just thought I'd post the updated Who's Sailing here - we haven't heard from several folks in a while so I don't know if everyone on the list is still sailing, so I thought this would be a good time for a quick "roll call" before we start planning for FE's and other onboard events.

Here's the list I have as of 01-16-2016. If you are on the list and I have your info wrong, let me know how you want it updated (either reply here or by PM). If you are on the list and you are not sailing with us any more, please let me know so I can take you off the list. If you should be on the list and I don't have you listed, please let me know that, too!

I've tried to add people as they've said hello and I've tried to take people off when their plans have changed but I'm sure I've missed some.

Thanks much!

Hi All. I'm just checking in to say we are PIF and ready to get this party started! We booked preliminary port adventures, dinners, massages, etc.. last night and are more excited than ever. I have my golf planned so that's the most important thing. ;)

For those curious, we are flying in from SFO on Friday, arriving Saturday and taking the train down to Dover to spend the night. We haven't looked into the trains yet, but I don't anticipate this being a big issue. After the cruise we are headed down to Paris for a few days and heading home from there.

Should be Fun!

Brian

Is the booking window open at midnight EST for your particular level?

Yes. That seems to be the case. And I'm glad you asked because we can book starting on the 21st and I was thinking Sunday NIGHT when really it's Saturday NIGHT / Sunday morning... I would have messed that up if left to my own devices.

Just wanted to say anyone looking at the Liverpool excursions you are only about a 10-15 minute walk from the Albert Dock where there are loads of museums (these only ask for a donation to visit, there is no set entrance fee) and a lot of the Beatles stuff there. If you want to go to Matthew street it's maybe another 10 minutes from there.

We are flying out Friday, June 3rd at 7:50pm. We should arrive in Gatwick at 9:05am on June 4th. We are going to take a taxi all the way to Dover and spend the night at a Bed and Breakfast. Then take taxi to port the next am. I think we are on the same flight coming home on the 18th. We are going to try to drive home once we deplane. Not looking forward to driving to Middle Georgia after that flight. But hopefully one of us can get some sleep and be up for the task. If not, then we will get a room somewhere to crash and head out the next morning. We would love to spend some extra time, but my DH is pushing it being away from work for 2 weeks, and we need to get back to rescue our 2 miniature longhaired Dachshunds. They do not do well away from us even though I have someone that keeps them both in their home where they are not caged. They have to have nerve medicine, have you ever heard of such, lol. We are also in the process of building a house and June will be a busy time with everything coming together. So, we will be in "Get home fast" mode, once cruise is over. We also have 3 children, the oldest is married with a 7 month old, Middle one about to take RN Board test now, and youngest, will be getting ready to go to China for his work when we get back.

We too are DVC members and Love it. We've been members since 1999. We used points for our B2B cruises last June to Norway and the one that went to St. Petersburg. We won't be using points for this trip, but hope to be able to go to Jackson Hole, Wyoming in December on points we will lose if we don't use this year.

Where are you staying in Orlando? Our favorite is Saratoga Springs. Love that we could walk to Downtown Disney. Our "Homes" are the Boardwalk and Wilderness Lodge, which we have never stayed at, lol.

Just a short 17 weeks until we are cruising on the Magic!
