June 5, 2016 - Magic Goes to England, Ireland, Scotland and France

I am not on this cruise (6/17 out of Dover to Iceland/Norway), but I booked Coastal Cars to get to Dover. My TA quoted $75 per person for the transfer to Dover through DCL. Coastal Cars (for 3 of us) was 175 pounds (around $40 more??). I don't remember the names of the DCL preferred hotels but they were CRAZY expensive.

What private transport from the airport are you using? I haven't done that yet!

I, too, would like to know what tipping policies are for the UK!

Several families including ours are using Coastal Cars.

Meeska Mooska 13- we are using Coastal Cars from our hotel to the port. Like you we haven't booked our transportation from Heathrow to the hotel. May use Coastal Cars again.

I wonder what excursions Disney might be offering especially since there's no ABD for this cruise. I have to read through this post to see what you've all discussed already!

Schiffy, we're doing Orlando to Gatwick - flying out on June 2nd. What about you? We're flying back on the 18th.

I have not pulled the trigger yet but planning to take a direct on British Air to Gatwick on June 1st and flying back on the 17th. We can get a 1:55 pm flight out of Gatwick on the 17th. Should be plenty of time to make the flight. The direct is more money but do not want the hassle of the transfers.

We're on Virgin Atlantic, also direct flight, because we don't want to transfer. We cashed in Delta skymiles for part of our tickets which helped with the out of pocket expense. We opted to spend an extra night at a hotel at the Gatwick airport to make the return flight a little more bearable, plus we'll visit Canterbury on our way from Dover back to Gatwick. We are using Coastal Cars for transportation to Dover and back.

Hi guys! I have been wanting to check in as it has always been fun to "meet" before we cruise. I'm Lisa and will be traveling with my DM Sue, DN Kaylee (17) and my DD (3) - possibly 2 more aunts if we can talk them into it. Ireland/Scotland has been at the top of mom's bucket list forever so she is extremely excited. I noticed quite a few teens but not too many little kids on our list. Anyway - just starting the planning - as always have already taken note of a bunch of great info here!

It looks like I can get a better hotel package booking with British Airline. I am going to stay at one of the DCL Hotels (JW Marriot) so I can get the DCL transfer. I looked at Coastal Cars also and would be my choice if not having the easy of DCL for hotel to Dover and Dover to airport. Your extra stay sounds interesting and makes sense. Not sure how I am getting from Gatwick to Hotel yet. Somthing easy after the flight.

Cruise Meet threads are doing just fine still managing meet and FE discussions right here on the DIS as they have since FE began (also here on the DIS).

FE organizers generally need to know how many people (adults/children) are participating in each cabin with child ages for age appropriate gift giving. Other information you would like to share such as names, allergies, favorite characters, etc. is up to you. Other personal information is not really necessary. Those organizing FEs typically ask for the information to be posted in the meet thread or sent to them via PM.

For those posting in this Cruise Meet thread to join a FE, if no one comes forward to organize a FE for this cruise, anyone can organize the FE right in this thread.
