June 5,2010 Relocation Cruise

Hi Linda,
It will be great to see you again, looks like this is starting to become a mini reunion!!
We received our docs today. Looks like it is official!!
Ken

:goodvibesGot my luggage tags this morning, a nice way to start the day.

I have a question from my DD4, she would like to know if Ariel is on the boat? I have seen a picture of her in one of the shows (Dreams maybe?) Can anyone confirm if she is in this? Ariel is her absolute favourite princess and though I know she's not around for meets etc, would be great if she's in a show!

Also, i've heard that the toiletries in the showers are really nice-are they good enough so I don't need to bring my own shampoo??? Trying to travel light!

Susan:)

We got our luggage tags last night also. Love the new docs they sent. We got the same thing for our cruise two weeks ago. I like having everything in the book of what your cruise plans are. So here is what we booked:

Cadiz-White Villages of Andalucia
Lisbon-Lisbon by Sidecar (for some reason, we have this idea of some wild guy driving us around Lisbon and we are wearing helmet, goggles and scarfs!)

Massages-June 10th at 4:30
Palo Dinner-June 10th at 7:30

Since Jamie and I arrive in Gibraltar on Sunday, we plan on relaxing and walking around town and then getting on the ship first thing Monday morning after she clears customs. Then we will go over to the monkeys so they can climb all over our head and try to steal our food or camera! Last time the people told us there they have been known to steal cameras, so hang on to those camera straps!

Ariel-yes, she is in Disney Dreams, but that is the only time I have ever seen her. I guess it is hard for her to get out of the water and wander the ship since she only has fins......

Shampoo products-they are the H2O product line and yes, they are nice and I use them.

Maybe our documents came and we were not home, had a fedex door tag???

Lol, I've explained to Lizzie about the fins....however as they do at that age she has argued with me that she's a human now.......:upsidedow

Thanks Kate for the FE info (I haven't figured out how to multi-quote yet!) I really wish i'd got my material today, I could have done it whilst watching the election debate tonight! I did find some transfers on ebay, I haven't bought them yet, but if I do i'll let you know how they are if we do.

Susan:)

Tell her that she is on water on the cruise ship and only allowed to have her fins, since she isn't on land! :rotfl:

Oh, and if you see the quote button in the bottom right corner....to the right is quotation marks and a plus sign. Just click on that everytime you want that quote and then when you "post reply" all the "+ will come up in one posting for you. Hope that makes sense.

We got our document Tuesday. Haven't thought about packing, we are off to Cincinnati for the "When Pigs Fly" marathon this weekend. We can get serious about the cruise after we get home from the race. Alex

Still looking for room numbers and names for door magnets. The door magnets are not fancy, but nice to have (helps me find my cabin easily). See page 15 for roster.

Hi Linda it will be nice to see you again, this is turning into a rerun of the first panama Cruise!!

Liz and Neil :thumbsup2

Yep, that was them!

Ours were left on the doorstep, so my dd was very excited when she got in. Luckily we live in a very isolated area, or I could have seen them walking......:lmao:

Hi

Not sure if you got ours from the FE list... 7625.

Yep, a mini reunion cruise, any excuse for a cruise works for me.

No scrapbooking classes for these cruises though, just can't haul all that stuff across the world. I'm planning on doing one for Alaska though or during the repositioning for sure!

Ok, all of our UK cruisers, we are thinking about hiring a car in Dover and spending some time in SW England. What do you think about this idea?
What can three southerners find to do? :rolleyes1
Cruise is approaching rapidly!! I guess we need to think about packing.

I think it would be a great idea, it seems a shame to come all the way over here and not see just a little of the countryside. Everyone thinks London is the UK, but it really is only a very small part of it and not really representative of the country, but I am sure you are aware of that!!

It will depend on how many days you are giving yourselves, but if you have a few days and are flying out of London, I would suggest sticking down the South area and staying in Bed and Breakfasts, which are cheap and easy, or Travel Lodges/Premier Inns, not much character, but always easy to find!

In the immediate area, the obvious places - Canterbury, Leeds Castle, which is actually in Maidstone, then Tunbridge Wells and possibly Brighton, before heading up to London. Brighton to London is about no more than an hour or so on a very good road. If you have longer, then I would suggest driving over to Winchester (the A272 across is a fairly scenic route) and then up to Oxford, before heading back into London. Winchester to Oxford is probably an hour and half, but both are lovely places to visit. Oxford to London is under an hour.

I used to live in Winchester and also in Oxford and can assure you there is a lot to do in both. A day in Winchester would be enough to see everything, but would suggest a couple of days in Oxford.

Canterbury and Leeds Castle could be combined in a day if you have an early start, you could then stay over in Tunbridge wells, have a morning there, drive to Brighton and overnight, spend the day (must see the Pavillion) and then to Winchester (stopping ot a pub on the way for tea), overnight Winchester, best part of the day there - up to Oxford, overnight and spend a day or two there, before heading back to London.

There - Itinerary sorted!!!! :thumbsup2

Seriously though, if you could do extra time, try and get to the New Forest, just to the south west of Winchester - Lydhurst and Beaulieu. An amazing area - I used to live there too and work in Lyndhurst, right in the centre of the Forest (wild ponies, beautiful coastline). New Forest is about half an hour from Winchester.

All the driving to and from these places is pretty straight forward, although when I worked in the New Forest, I remember coming around a country lane and a guy heading straight towards me!!! I took avoiding action and he stopped, obviously shocked - he was from the US and had forgotten to drive on the other side of the road! Please don't do that!!!!

Any other ideas, further afield, let me know. I travelled the length and breadth of the UK in my job, so know it very well! Everywhere is pretty near compared to the States, the whole country is only 700 miles long!

Hi Kate,
Thanks for all of the great information about things to do and ideas about where we should go. We have been to London, and enjoyed the experience and history. But, we thought this time why not take advantage of the southern area, and see the countryside and smaller towns. Besides, it is not that difficult to drive, even if you turn the wrong way in the first roundabout
coming out of the airport:confused3
Thanks again,
see you soon,
Ken and Christie

My last paper is handed in, last test taken for the year. I'm officially finished with my first year of graduate school. I finally have time to think about my vacation.

Been rethinking the Seville trip at Cadiz. 4 hours on a bus with my kids sounds daunting. Thinking about changing to the walking tour. To those who have been there before... is the downtown walking distance from the pier?

Also, we still haven't received our tags/boarding docs. Anybody else still waiting?

Thanks,
Adrianna

I recall doing the walking tour and the pier an easy walk to the down town area.
