June 4 Magic Cruisers-Question on Cabo Tender

I was on that inaugural cruise tendering back, and never heard anything about it. Wow, I thought the boats were late coming back, maybe that explains why they were late, they had to rescue people. Glad everyone was safe. I did see life jackets, but maybe we all need to wear them getting on the boat. I am trying to remember, do we wear them when we tendered in the caribbean?

We had no problems with our tender today and don't see how anyone could fall out unless no one was watching them. We were packed in and no one was moving around or anything. They had quite a few Disney people helping get us in and on it.

The sides of the tender boats are high enough that if you listen to the instructions (Please do not stand up) you won't fall out. A child (or adult) could only fall out of a tender if they stood on the seats and leaned over.
There were DCL staff and two tender employees helping us get in the tender in both directions....off the ship and returning. My mom used a cane (age 71, recent hip replacement) and she accepted the offer of helping hands, and had no trouble at all.
I am not downplaying the horror of what happened to that little girl and her mom, but I'm sorry...I think someone wasn't watching their child closely enough.
Yes, accidents happen....kids can slip away quickly and w/o warning (thus they are called accidents) and no one gets through raising kids without some kind of accident. But in a lot of cases, it could be avoided by closer supervision.

Chris, I did not hear about the incident either. That must have been so scary. I did take note of the life jackets under the seats along the sides. I was riding with the kids and it was getting quite choppy. As a previous poster mentioned, they really wouldn't have done me much good just sitting under those seats. The ride to Cabo was quite smooth but the ride back was more exciting than I wished. The woman directly behind me just sat with her head resting on the bar behind me and moaned. My kids were saying that it was fun but they were a little scared. I was actually surprised at how easily we were able to pull up to the Magic. I thought we were going to have to make several attempts. We had no problems with the ride. It was just a bit nerve-racking. Definitely, my scariest tender ride ever. Of course, it's the first time I ever tendered with my children. That really changes everything.

I'm glad to hear that they have Disney CM's aboard the tenders now. I thought that was odd that they didn't do that on the inaugural.
