Looks like we don't have a group on this cruise yet! Am I the only one?

We booked this cruise on our B2B Dream cruise in June and are very excited to be going to our 49th State! The Disney Wonder was our very first Disney cruise back in 2005 and we were in Stateroom #7112...the same stateroom we have for this, our 9th cruise!!! :woohoo:

It will be myself and DH, we are empty nesters that love Disney. We will be 54 y/o at the time of this cruise. We will be following TRs from this year's cruises with great interest! :surfweb:

So, is anyone else sailing North to Alaska with us? Or will we get all the Palo brunch reservations? :lmao:

North to Alaska:

I have added your thread to the cruise meet list :thumbsup2

Have a great cruise!

:cool1: yay! I was waiting for someone to start a thread!
It will be me, 37 at cruising time, and DP, 39.
My second cruise, her first. She is prone to motion sickness so I'm a bit worried about that.
We are big time disney freaks, my parents met while working there in the 60's and her parents honeymooned there at the same time!!!

:welcome: Pixielizzie!!! We thought we were destined to be by ourselves on the ship! LOL!!!
Very excited for this cruise! Neither of us suffer from motion or seasickness, so I'm no help there, though I do know I see a lot of people with the little patches behind their ear or those wrist bands. They all looked like they were doing just fine, so probably they work! :confused3

This will be cruise #9, and I must say the only times I've really noticed a lot of movement on board was when we were near a storm. I HEARD (don't quote me) that the passage we sail on this cruise is protected from any heavy seas. If I"m wrong, I'm sure someone will come straighten me out! :rotfl2:

ETA: I will keep a running list on the first post of people signed up for the cruise!

Hi! So glad to see that someone has started this cruise meet. We will be joining you all too. :cool1:

We are traveling with a group, but I am not sure if the others will be joining the cruise meet.

Let me introduce my family: Me, DH, DS9, DS2.

We will be traveling with MIL & SIL. Also with us will be our friends and their kids. This is my family's second cruise. It will be the first cruise for MIL & SIL. The other family has cruised before, but not on DCL.

Looking forward to chatting and planning with all of you over the coming months.

:welcome: Debc1212!!! Glad to see you! I'm sure it will get busier as we get closer! I'm looking forward to having a lot of fun on this cruise!!! Sulley wasn't too keen at first (pool and beach being his main goals:rotfl:) but surprised me in saying lets book this!
Can't wait to get to know everybody!!!

Our family is joining you as well. Me, DH, DD(12), DS(10) and DS(6) We are so excited! Just spoke to our DVC friend and saw his pictures, AMAZING! I will try to post some when he sends them to us to show our kiddos.

:welcome: Crazy4DisneyWI and family!!! Glad to have you aboard! Can't wait to see the pictures!!

Hi there, we'll be joining you all as well! It will be me, DH and our 2 kids (DS 9 and DD 3.5 at the time we cruise). This will be our 4th cruise and we're very excited to be heading North. DH and I went on an adults only cruise to the Mexican Riviera back in April so booked this as a surprise for the kiddos.

I have also heard the route to Alaska is relatively protected so the waters are pretty calm, but DH has also had good success with the behind-the-ear patch.

:welcome: DisFanInCO! I will add you to the first page list as well! Glad to see more sailors joining the fun...:goodvibes

OMG! I can't wait to do this. It looks so fun, pricey but fun. I have heard it is quit an experience to work with the dogs. Check out the excursions.

Is that the one that helicopters to the glacier & dog sleds down? DH wants to do it but it's very pricey.

Sorry but this is my first reply on this site and don't understand all of your abbreviations. My name is Donna and this is my family's first cruise. We're from Hawaii. My husband is Haddon and we have 4 kids: Kauila (15), Kekailani (13), Hi'ilei (11), and Nanea (7). We're excited and spending a week in Vancouver and Seattle before sailing. I've been reading a lot of stuff on this site but it took awhile before this sailing date was posted. We need all the help we can get. Doing a lot of reading on fish extenders but it seems too overwhelming for us. Any advice on this? It seems that there are hundreds of people who do this and I can't imagine making that many things for each day or am I not on the right track? Hope to meet some of you next year. Take care!

:welcome: Donna and Family! Glad to see you joining us! I know what you mean about abbreviations, there are sooooo many! If you don't know what something means, please ask, someone will gladly tell you what they are! My DH (Dear Husband) complains about them all the time! :rotfl:
As to the Fish Extenders, I've been on two cruises where we did the fish extenders and they were both well under 100 people total, about 30 cabins or so. you don't make a gift for each person for each day either! :scared1: Your whole cruise would be spent delivering things! That would NOT be fun! People usually make/buy a small gift per person or per cabin. You deliver it either on a set day or any day you want, depending on the group's set-up. For instance, my last cruise I made 1 gift per cabin (34 cabins) and one per child (30 boys 37 girls) I delivered my gifts on port day in Nassau as we weren't getting off the ship. Hope that helps!

Where in Hawaii are y'all from? I lived there for a time as a small child, my father was stationed at Kane'ohe Bay. I still remember the Hawaiian version of my name is Kekepania. My brother-in-law is a chef at a restaurant on Maui.

Looking forward to meeting you in LESS THAN A YEAR!!! :woohoo:

Hi Stephanie!

Our ohana (family) is from the Big Island of Hawaii and we live in Hilo. I appreciate you making things clearer for me regarding the fish extenders. So you don't make a delivery of gifts everyday, correct? You just do it once during the entire cruise? If that's the case, I think this is something maybe we can handle. Not sure if I want to lug all those things around since we're going to be in Seattle/Vancouver for a week before we actually sail.

As for abbreviations, is the number after the 2 initials the age of the person? Do you know if it's a boy or girl?

Again, thanks again for your reply and look forward to an awesome cruise!!!

Hi Donna! Welcome to the boards!

As for the abbreviations.... DH is Dear Husband. DW is Dear Wife. DS is Dear Son. DD is Dear Daughter. If you see DS5 or DS(5) the person's son is 5 years old. I think there is a thread on the main Disney Cruise Line (DCL) forum that lists many abbreviations that are commomly used on the site. It helped me quite a bit when I started.

As for the fish extenders (FE), we did it on our last cruise. We had about 16 staterooms participate. I had one gift each person in the stateroom. It was so much fun delivering the gifts. The kids were so excited each time we got back to the stateroom to see what had been delivered.

Please ask any and all questions you have. I have found the people on these boards to be very helpful. :goodvibes

Thanks debc1212 for your helpful answers. I'm thinnking about doing the FE's. See, I'm learning the new DIS lingo!!! When you said that you gave each person a gift, was it a one time exchange during the entire cruise or did you give something each night? I just changed our rooms to 2583 and 2585 because the stateroom reports for our original rooms wasn't too great. Thanks again for al your help!

PS: Is it that big of a letdown that we don't have a window or verandah for our rooms? It was just a little too pricey for us. Thanks!

It's one time during the cruise. Each participant is responsible for giving gifts to other participants one time. Some give gifts to every person, some to every child and some to every cabin. You can choose whichever one you want. I usually do one cabin/one for every child, so, for example, I would leave 5 at your cabin. One for the cabin and one for each of your children. But I would only do it one time.

I don't know if you would consider it a letdown to be without a window, but then, a lot of people don't spend much time in their cabins at all! :goodvibes There is so much to do on board...and if you want to relax and stare at the sea, deck four has a great deck to sit and watch the ocean!
