June 3, 2006 - Disney Magic Western Carribean

Sounds like we're going to have quite a crowd for our meet. :) I think it will be really good for my boys (6 & 4) to meet some other kids right away.

GoofyTeacher, we have second seating for dinner. I'm a little nervous about seating arrangements since it's just me and the boys.

Welcome, JB5. Looks like quite a few of us have kids in the same age group. See you at the meet on Saturday. Maybe we should all go see Cars as a group. Sounds like all of our kids are excited about it. (And I for one am really excited too!)

I'm so happy to see there are so many little ones in the group. My DD4 :Pinkbounc is a little shy at first, but she is quite the tomboy with a lot of energy. Isn't it amazing how they have an endless supply of energy.

This is our second cruise on the Magic. It is definitely the best vacation you'll ever take. We are getting up early and heading over to be there when the parking lot opens. We are about 3 hours away (gulf coast of FL). We are counting down the days. With school out, nothing left to do but pack.

Does anyone else have a teenager that is embarrassed to have fun on board? Any ideas to get them past it. We told her "who cares, you don't know these people and will never see them again" but that doesn't seem to work.

I've got to get started on designing and making our door sign. June 3 is going to be he before we know it :yay:

Thanks for the info - i'll be working on those door signs this weekend

I know what you mean. I have always said that if I could just bottle the energy of my DS(7) pirate: and DD(1 1/2) princess: I could make millions. They seem to go non-stop all the time, especially my DD :Pinkbounc . She never stops except to sleep. And that is only when I can get her to be still long enough for that to happen. She once fell asleep in her high chair in the middle of eating dinner.

DWeaver - thanks so much for the link... :goodvibes I've spent the entire evening working on at least one page that I can hopefully print out and use - it has been fun but has showed me how limited my creative computer abilities are! :confused3

I can't believe that we'll be in FL in a week - I don't know who will have the hardest time getting to sleep that night - me or the kiddies! :woohoo:

Can you believe in 5 days we'll be aboard?! I started printing some door signs and still have a few more. I was thinking about instead of magnetizing each page, putting them in a sheet protector and putting the mags on that. Do you think anyone would bother it?

Did someone mention using name tags made from Home Depot chips for the DISmeet? If not, I am now. I am going to put my screen name with my real name under it.

I haven't seen any new postings since Sunday. Is everyone getting too busy getting ready to go? We are soooooo excited. We were on the Magic exactly 2 years ago this week. I am just as excited now as I was then. We did the Eastern last time, so we're looking forward to some new ports this time.

Oh, we are soooo excited. We leave on Wednesday for Dallas and then fly to Orlando to go to the MK first before getting on the cruise. I got my new camera so I have been taking pics like crazy making sure I know how to use it. I would just die if I took the number of pics I usually do and then have them not turn out. My daughters just see me pick up the camera and pose. Last night I finally got them when they were sleeping so I would not have to hear about it. One day they will thank me.

We are way over the top excited - everytime my DS :yay: sees a suitcase he thinks we should be leaving NOW . At least mine still have school to occupy them this week - I don't know how y'all are doing it with having them home and bouncing off the walls!

I was up at Kinkos tonight trying to print out door signs - I think I'm ready and just need some magnet tape.

Goofy Teacher - I don't think anyone would mess with your signs if they are in the sheet protectors - but then I've never been on a cruise before. I like to think that Disney cruisers wouldn't mess with other people's signs.

I love looking at the tickers some of you have - I didn't get into this in time to figure out how/where to get those.

See you in a couple of days! :hourglass

I'm so excited, but now I'm also very panicked. I just know I'm not going to get everything done in time. Either that or I'm going to forget to pack something important. I can't wait to just get out of here and stop worrying about it.

A question for those of you who have done this before...
In the booklet I got, it said I could have two pieces of luggage per ticketed person. However, they sent me four luggage tags :confused3

Is this supposed to mean that I can have two "large" bags that would have been checked on the plane and I can also have two carry-on sized bags? or did they send extra for the trip home?

HELP

JB5,

You should have received 2 luggage tags for each of you. I got 6, 2 with my name and 2 each with the boys names on them.

Although it looks like there are 4 on each sheet, there are 2. One long strip is 1 tag. It is very deceiving, I too was fooled. Look at the back of the tags and it explains it "somewhat." If you are flying, I would be sure to include the airline tags, these tags are only for the ship (however, I live 3 hours from the port and have never flown there so mine may look different than yours). :confused3 We arrive at the port ASAP so we learned last time to limit our carry on to as little as possible because we are on board for 2 hours before we can get into our cabin.

If you click on one of the tickers, it will take you to the website with instructions on how to do it.

Hi all -

Is anyone packing costumes for pirate night???? Last summer on the panama canal cruise everyone was dressed but on our last cruise in April - I only saw a very few folks in pirate garb. It is fun to dress up but I don't want to be the only one. pirate: pirate:

Goofy and Izza, thank you - I have a better handle on those luggage tags now. :worship:

cinlyn - we will be dressed in our tropical stuff on pirate night - not packing extra costumes; I'm trying to figure out how to fit everything I thought I needed/wanted in the first place

I can't believe we fly out of here in two more days - :Pinkbounc

No, we are not dressing in the full pirate costume. I told my duaghters that they could get pirate hats at the Magic Kingdom before we leave. We would never use the pirate costumes again.

:yay: We leave in the mornig :yay:

my girls have pirate t-shirts, but that is about as far as we are going to go. right now DH and i have palio set for that night. i am going to try to change it once we board. i scheduled it online and then realized i did it for pirate night. oh well.

My boys both have pirate costumes and swords. I'm wearing regular clothes that can pass for pirate clothes. My boys will definitely use the costumes again. I fully expect them to wear them on weekends, etc. They still wear their Halloween costumes from the last 2 years for fun.

I have no idea how I'm going to get the house cleaned and everything packed tonight. We leave the house at 3:30 am on Friday, so tonight's the last night to get anything done. I just found out that my brother, who was supposed to house-sit and feed my animals, just got a job in California and has to leave this weekend. Ack! Nothing like a very last minute scramble to find someone to take care of the house and dog/cat.

We made T-shirts, they came out pretty ccol. They were inexpensive so I don't care if we never wear them again. DD15 is a drip, she didn't want one.

How do you know which night is Pirate night? I haven't seen a specific schedule for that. In that case, does anyone know which night is formal night AND do they still have tropical night or did Pirate replace it?

I guess most of you will be fading in the next couple days because you'll be en route to port canaveral, so be safe and see you on the deck.
