FEs are a pocket organizer that you make or buy and hang from the hook outside your cabin door. People organize groups like this who do a Secret Santa type exchange. Everyone interested exchanges info (who is in cabin, likes, allergies, etc) and then buys or makes gifts to exchange during the cruise. You can search and find threads in the main thread to get ideas for gifts. You should give and receive to every cabin on the list. It's everyone's personal preference if they do one gift per person or one per cabin. It depends on what you decide to do as a gift. Does that help? Jill

Ok so we are cruising on June 28th fantasy and we can't wait. This is our first Disney cruise and I keep hearing about fish extenders. Can someone explain these to me?

When the Magic and Wonder were built DCL mounted outside each stateroom door a metal, silver, fish-shaped, spring loaded piece of hardware that was used to hold notes, letters, etc. Basically you would squeeze the tail, it would open the fish's mouth and you could place mail or something in it.

Somebody got the great idea that groups that sail together (DISers) could exchange gifts, trinkets, pins, etc. The FE or Fish Extender is analogous to a Christmas stocking. They normally have 3 or 4 pockets where each pocket would be for each person in your stateroom. Typically you will see a top pocket for Mom & Dad and the rest for the kids. The "Fish Extender" name came from you extending the use of the fish-shaped hardware designed for mail. The Fantasy and Dream actually use starfish shapes on one side, but they are still called Fish Extenders

If you want to participate you will get a list of other participating staterooms, typically 25 is the max that includes names and ages of the participants. During the course of the cruise when you have a little free time you can play "Santa Clause" and fill the other FEs with goodies. Typically the kids get a kick out of it, especially when they wake in the morning to find their FE stuffed with trinkets, Pirate Booty or other fun things.

Search eBay for Fish Extender to see some creative designs.

We are a family of four heading on the Fantasy on June 28, 2014. So excited!!!

My DH wants to put some feelers out there to any other gentlemen who may be interested in meeting at one of the bars or sports clubs on the ship for a poker game.

Not sure if this thread is allowed, but I wanted to try on DH's behalf. Since there is no gambling allowed on the ship, it would simply involve chips at the table (provided by my DH) and everyone would honor the chips afterward in private. Don't want to break any laws here!

So, I would love thoughts on this, and who would be interested. Thanks!

Sorry, DH isn't in to poker that I know of. He may play to get away for awhile if he knows something is happening.

We have been booked on the cruise for awhile now, but I haven't been on the DIS boards much, so I haven't "checked in"

This will be our first sailing on the Fantasy, but our 9th Disney Cruise overall. We are so close to platinum!! We have done the FE for the past several trips and the kids really enjoy it. My DD and I spend some time today looking at FE ideas on Pinterest, so we are ready!

We are in a Cabin on the 9th deck, off the back of the ship. My parents are also cruising with us, they are around the corner from us.

We would love to participate in the FE exchange again!

Just checking in. Cruise is now paid in full!!

Booked our flights to MCO a couple of weeks ago using our Southwest points. Was able to get opening day prices and very happy about that. Flights from MCO will open on 1/27 and hoping for the same good luck.

We're planning on a week at WDW before the cruise. Made reservations at POFQ, but hoping to move to AKL if discounts come out.

I was able to make ADRs on 12/23. There was unusually good availability. I guess people were too busy with the holiday to worry about ADRs.

Get very excited, and lots of FE ideas floating in my head. But need to make sure how many I may need to make before I settle in to making them!

Yes, the plan was to cap the list at 20 just for the reasons you mentioned. We could always add people if someone drops out. The best bet would be for another list to be started if newcomers want to do that.
