n8tivecaligirl - this is what I was thinking about that someone was looking for a tour-share. Kouris_Family, are you all still looking?

We are still looking to see if anyone would like to share our car and driver with us in Naples, we are driving up the coast, stopping in all the towns, Positano, Ravello, Amalfi and Pizza. 450 Euro for the car and it can fit 8, we are a family of 4, even if it's just another couple we can split fairly for you. Our kids are 14 & 10 and they are very well behaved and seasoned travelers. Let me know...

Nice for you. We're in a connecting room on the first cruise (which is next door to our non-connecting cabin we have on this one). I kept hoping 6116 would open up but it never did. We've never stayed in a connecting cabin before and are hoping it won't be noticeable to us or to our "connecting neighbors" - we booked via DVC and didn't know it was a connecting when they assigned the cabin.

For those who have sailed in connecting cabins before, and not been part of the traveling party of your neighbors, did you notice the connection besides just having a door there? Any tips or tricks for maintaining your privacy and/or extra caution to take to be sure to not disturb the neighbors (sounds maybe go through differently?)

We only had a connecting cabin ONCE and vowed never to do it again. It was a situation where DCL had to move us from a very noisy cabin on deck 6. We were upgraded to deck 8 to a cat 4 and the people next door were loud. We could hear their TV, the kids were loud and always seems to be playing soccer in the room. Luckily we weren't in the room much and at night they were relatively quiet. Once they made a loud noise on the balcony, and I yelled at them as I was outside at the time, that seemed to stop a lot of the shenanigans. Now we have connecting rooms this time, but we're connecting with my kids, so I'll luxuriate in closing that door.......

I'm trying to picture where the connecting door is - is it on the side with the desk? And is it at the end of the cabin by the verandah or in the middle like where the steamer trunk goes?

Which just reminded me to pack some clorox wipes for the steamer trunk and some febreeze or something because the last time we sailed, the steamer trunk STANK like people had stored both their smelly shoes and their dirty laundry. blech.

We are a family divided. My 9 year old DD wants nothing but to see the Leaning Tower. My husband and I want to see David. We booked the Florence and Pisa DCL excursion, which takes care of her, but won't help on the David front. Outside of booking a private car at an astronomical rate, do any of you who have been there before have any ideas for us?

Rome in Limo has a website just for people looking to share a tour and it helps to keep costs down. The drive to Pisa, then Florence and then back to the ship will be long...but I have heard Florence is amazing!! A friend of mine said that people who think the drive to Florence from the port is too far have never been there. My DS19, who went to Italy in 2009 with a friend agrees. It was his favorite city.

We are at Hotel Petit Palace Boqueria. There's several families from our cruise staying there. Don't know how close it is but it maybe pretty close.

Hi everyone, I know we must be crazy but I just booked my husband and I this morning. AHHH! I don't know what we are thinking with only 3 weeks to "get our act together" but it's what we could do. So with no time to plan, please let me know basic info such as Do we fly in the day before or day of? Where do we stay if we fly in the day before? We are just gonna "fly by the seat of our pants" on shore excursions cause with work and stuff coming up I have no time to research. So any advice would be awesome.

We have room in our private tour for Rome if you're interested in joining us. We are going through the company Rome in Limo and so far have 2 families sharing. Our kids are older (16-20) and we plan on hitting most of the major sites with the exception of the Vatican. Only way to see the Vatican on this trip is if you go with a Disney excursion (due to our being there the last Sunday of the month there will be huge crowds and longer than usual lines)

We aren't Canadian but we are always up for hanging out with new friends. For the US Independence Day on the 4th, we are doing a 10 PM meet at promenade lounge. Perhaps you might host something on the 1st at a similar time and place. That's Naples day and its a sea day next morning so people don't have quite so early a curfew

Hi! This is the second time we (I and my wife) join Disney Cruise to Mediterranean. Last time was 2011.
It is so excited that I'll been to mediterranean again with Dsiney Magic soon.
This forum is great and I got lot of useful information.

I'm struggling with doing Venice on my own or taking an excursion or private tour. Does anyone have any thoughts?

We were on the fence about that as well. Opted for a skip the line tickets at St Mark's for the first day and then booked some tours directly for the second day (secret Itineraries Tour of the Doge's Palace and the clock tower). In the middle of that we plan on a gondola ride too.
We prefer to avoid the DCL excursions, but part of that is due to the fact that my DH is very good with maps

I would imagine there are very slim pickings from DCL excursions at this point so probably your best bet is to head over to tripadvisor to either plan things to DIY or find a private guide.

I have heard Venice is a great port to do on your own

In La Spezia we are going to take a train to Pisa just to see and take pictures of the Leaning Tower, we are doing this just because we don't want to go to Florence this time and we want the kids to see it, but then we are out of there and will head back to the beach somewhere. I would be more than happy to meet you on the ship before hand, introduce you to our daughter Hannah (10) and if you get comfortable enough, I will take your daughter for you. I know this sounds crazy and my first reaction would be (no way) but I am the one in my neighborhood who takes all the kids all the time. I never mind and my daughter does better with a friend. Think about it... we can meet.

It's not too far from you... we're towards the top of La Ramblas, and you're a few blocks south of us.

What is the price pp and what sites are you aiming for?

That should be plenty of time. It starts at 3 but is truly a come and go thing so folks who need or want to be elsewhere can swing by, say hey, put some faces and names together so you will see DIS friends all over the ship the rest of the week! Nice thing about the time you are boarding is that the cabin will be ready when you get on the ship.

That is so nice of you to offer, but we ended up taking the good advice offered by so many and have booked a car to take us to both Pisa and Florence. They have assured us we can do both. It would be nice to meet you on the boat and introduce our girls. Mine loves the cruises as much for the friends she makes as the activities she gets to do. When we aren't on the boat, she is in the club!

I was also going to suggest a private booking like Rome in Limo. This way you could get tickets for the museum for David and maybe tickets to climb the tower if it's not too late and get it all in in one day. A private car wouldn't be much more than a DCL excursion, the DCL prices are CRAZY though......

Thanks for the advice. We are booked with Rome in Limo. A little more expensive, but the thought of one less bus is pretty appealing. Not to mention getting to see both sites.
