June 27, 2013 - Magic in the Med (Venice)

Our Christmas tree is so barren of gifts this year because we are putting so much towards this trip. I am thinking of getting Santa hats to wear onboard and celebrating Christmas in July. What about the rest of you? Feel the same way??

Happy holidays everyone. Just got off the Magic Dec 21st. Had a great time. All of the CM are excited to go to the Med next summer and a few are asking for extensions on their contracts so they can stay through July 9th.

We requested a certain server on the cruise we were just on, but he was on vacation. Got new ones and they were great.

Can't wait to get back on June 15-July 9th for 24 nights of Magic!

Welcome back! We are also B2Bing. Seems like someone else is, too, but I cannot remember who. I know some folks are b2bing the week before.

Hi all,

We are looking forward to the Med Cruise, We just got off the Repositioning Panama Canal on the Disney Wonder. Happy Holidays.

Hello everyone
Just wanted to say hello and introduce ourselves. I am Nancy and my DD is Nancy-Paris (will be age 9). We just got off the Panama Canal repositioning (still swaying but less than yesterday) with the Wonder. It was an absolutely lovely cruise! This will be our 9th Disney, with our first in the Med years ago with Disney.
While on the most recent cruise of 14 days, I was reminded once again how much I adore sea days. The 12 day Venice cruise is jam packed with wonderful ports, and don't like that we will just running around, not enjoying Disney as much. DD especially enjoyed bonding in the Lab with other children.
I have a question to ask---is anyone else waiting to confirm after the final payment is due? :coffee:

Six months from today we will be boarding for our cruise! :yay:

It seems like a long way away but it will be here before we know it, especially as we get closer to the dates we can book excursions. :sail:

Anyone on this cruise going to be at WDW for Marathon Week-end in a couple of weeks? Hoping to see you at the WISH meet if that is the case. :flower3:

Welcome aboard to our new folks! :welcome:

2 months from today I can do my excursions. Does anyone remember what time we can register to check in?

I think I read that someone besides me will be staying at the Hotel Petit Palace Boquería Barcelona. Does anyone remember who it is?

Welcome to the thread. I've added you to the "who's sailing" list in the first post of the thread. I'm not sure what you mean by waiting to confirm?

I'm Laurie and traveling with my DH Darren, DS19 and DD(15 will be 16).
Team Renshaw we did the PC Repo back in 2008 and loved it. Not as many sea days on this cruise though so planning on doing very little on our last sea day to recoup.
nancy, we pay in full a few days prior to the date we can book Palo/excursions/checkin which for gold cc members is March 13th. DCL should send you some kind of notification to let you know what your date is for booking things or you can check their website for your reservation details.

Six months from today we will be boarding for our cruise! :yay:

We'll be at WDW the first weekend in January for a short trip (using up DVC points). Is that when you are there?

2 months from today I can do my excursions. Does anyone remember what time we can register to check in?
I think it varies:confused3
On our past 2 cruises it was a few hours after excursion/Palo booking was open.

I think I read that someone besides me will be staying at the Hotel Petit Palace Boquería Barcelona. Does anyone remember who it is?

Me :banana::banana:
The last few reviews on Trip Advisor for this hotel have not been great, but they all agree the location is very good. Since we are only there for 2 nights we are fine with less than perfect service. Reports of bug problems are the only thing that would cause me to switch at this point (knock on wood-hope I didn't jinx it).

We also have been looking to do the Med for many years as well.
When they included Venice as a port that was what had me hooked.

I will be there January 9th through the 13th at OKW using the last of my DVC points for a very long time thanks to this cruise. :rolleyes1

Were you on the July 18th 2010 Baltic Mrs. Scooby? We were on that one..
Yup:thumbsup2
Wasn't that an amazing cruise :cool1:
Perfect combination of port and sea days.
Plus I liked that the fish extender group was on the small size.

Sorry we'll miss you.
Looking forward to checking out Be Our Guest, new rides/land in the Magic Kingdom, the new test track and other new stuff:woohoo:

Well, spent some time researching transfer options in Barcelona and thought I would pass on some things I found.

http://www.tripadvisor.com/Travel-g187497-c164113/Barcelona:Spain:Transportation.Summary.html

I did look through some posts on cruiscritic and found many that recommended taking a taxi from the airport to your hotel/port and cost being about 30 euros for 4 people.

We are coming in on a red eye and my DH wanted our own van waiting for us so we opted for suntransfers. The price was 54 euro for a 6 person minivan. We only have 4 people but didn't want to be crowded into a car with our luggage. The cost is refundable up to about 2 days prior to date I think.

I'm thinking of booking a segway tour while in Barcelona. We did something like this is Copenhagen on our Baltic cruise and my kids loved it.

Not sure if booking this on the day we arrive to make sure we stay awake or waiting until the next day (6/26/13).
If anyone else wants to do this as a group let me know:thumbsup2
The segways are very easy to learn how to use:cool1:

I suppose it is finally time to introduce myself to the group...

We booked this cruise on opening day, but it has been a heck of a year and in the back of my mind I was afraid to get too attached to it because we might have to cancel.

DH and I really looking forward to this. We will be travelling by ourselves as our kids are kids no longer! They are both married with jobs and mortgages.

We were in BCN for a few jetlagged hours prior to the 2010 WBTA so we didn't see much of it. I have never been to Italy or France and have always wanted to go. There is so much to see and do that I am having a hard time in cutting the must sees down to what we can realistically do while we are in Port.

Plane tickets are booked and it suddenly occurs to me that I only have 6 weeks to decide what excursions we are going to want. Aaack! Time to get busy.

My plan is to try to decide on a port a week. We will see how that works...
