June 27, 2013 - Magic in the Med (Venice)

Princess has a new ship Royal Princess saling out of Barcelona also in June 2013.
I just priced a gty obstructed view balcony and came up with $7111 for cruise only with taxes and insurance.
My cat 10A secret porthole room on the Magic for June 27th
is $6428 for cruise fare, taxes and insurance for two adults.
I'll keep checking but my heart belongs to Disney.

:cool1: You have got to do what works best for you,
but
our hearts belong to Disney too. :thumbsup2

DH has wanted has wanted to see Venice for years. Lots of cruise lines and tours have gone there and he did nothing, but as soon as he learned that DCL was going to Venice he checked his schedule and theirs and told me what date to book.

We have never been there so anything we see and do is new so it's all good :yay:

I called DCL and they told me they can only do two nights prestay for hotels, so if we want to stay longer we have to book it on our own.

Hello everyone

We are booked on this cruise :yay: Me (Emma) DH (Dan), DS (Sam who will be 5 ) and our newest member DD Niamh (pronounced Nieve who will be 16 mths)

This will be our 3rd cruise with Disney, we have done the Med back in 2010 and the WBTA last year. We was going to cruise this year out of NY but I had complications after the birth of Niamh so we had to postpone our trip.:sad1:

It's going to be a nice surprise for my son as he keeps asking to go back to Mickey's boat but I don't know how long I can keep it quiet for. :rolleyes1

I know in the past, they have done three night pre and two nights post. I read I another thread that the renaissance was doing two nights pre and the Hilton you could do three, so I would call back if you were looking for three. But if you wanted more, then Decide if you want to move during your pre stay from another hotel or book on your own.

That was me on the other post, I called back and finally got that figured out. We are wait listed for the three nights at the Renaissance Barcelona.

Another article I thought you all might find of interest:

Top 10 Sights in Rome - from LonelyPlanet.com

Because we've been to Rome before, we already saw the highlights we had on our "must see" list, so we're beginning to think about what else we might want to see and/or do on a day in Rome. We saw the Vatican, the Colloseum, the Pantheon, tossed our coins in the Trevi Fountain... so whenever I come across articles, I like to see what else to put on our list!

Thought someone might be interested.

Fodor's Insider's Guide to the South of France.

Also, have any of you see Madagascar 3? We saw it this week and loved it - what was especially fun was seeing Monte Carlo and Rome :) It was a fun movie.

Great idea - I added these two links and there was already one for the Barcelona Hotels. Let me know if there's anything else to add.

Good morning everyone,

I don't know if anybody is interested but I did read in an earlier post that somebody was asking about Malta. I have been to Malta several times and love the place. On a Sunday morning there is a market in Valletta. Valletta itself is a beautiful city full of history. I would also recommend taking a boat trip around Valletta harbour. Malta is also famous for its Mdina glass which comes in a variety of colours (I will be picking up a piece or two :rolleyes1). I do know that DCL have done many different trips for Malta and I think one of them was to the island of Gozo which is also beautiful. I hope this has given you some idea of Malta and if you have any more questions I would be happy to answer them if I can.

Can you add us to the list? We have booked B2B cruises (6/15 & 6/27). Now we have never done B2B cruises and I am not positive it work out for us but DH feels if we fly to Europe for one cruise that includes Greece we might as well stay for the cruise that includes Venice. We'll see. If we all do wind up going, we have 2 cabins (7037 & 7541) and the five of us include Me (Marie), DH (Steve), DSD) (Dora), DD (Katie - 21 at the time of the cruise) and DS (18 at the time of the cruise). I will look forward to learning a lot on this thread.:thumbsup2

I just booked Hotel Montecarlo for 2 nights prior to the cruise. Decent price, I think and ranked good on Tripadvisor.

Happy Independence Day to my fellow Americans! It just occurred to me that we will be on board the Magic for next year's 4th of July! Actually in Venice.

OOPS --never mind -- I found the board with the hotels... Can you recommend a good hotel in Barcelona?

One thing that you should inquire into the smaller hotels is do they have air conditioning? Some are masonary attached buildings that heat up quickly only have ceiling fans and windows. If this years' weather can attest 90+ is not uncommon. I admit that I cannot go without A.C. on vacation.;)

Hello Everybody :wave2:

Does anyone have any idea when DCL will be putting their trips on their website for the Med cruise's?

I do think that they will be similar to the 2010 Med cruise's but I am just curious to see if there is anything different and what they will be offering for Venice and Croatia.

I'm just seeing what the options are as we have less than 12 months now to plan :cool1:

It would be my guess that in the fall they will if past years give us a clue. They probably will wait for pricing in this business climate for the forcast that the Euro will fall in reference to the dollar. But who really knows what goes on in the back offices? Cheers!:)
