June 27, 2013 - Magic in the Med (Venice)

We were watching the first episode of the new season of An Idiot Abroad and it started in Venice! It was so great to see (in HD!) the canals and areas right there - beautiful!

I saw that too!! One of my fav shows. Venice is one of my favorite places and I don't see how you can't enjoy your time there. Karl manages to find something bad no matter where he goes. Of course I guess that's why the show is so entertaining.

Thanks for the link, MrsScooby. The churches in the pictures are all so beautiful. Looks like Venice will be another place where it will be hard to narrow down the choices!

BTW, on the blog he mentioned that Dubrovnik was switching to euros in July. As far as I can tell, Croatia may be joining the EU then, but it will take a couple of years to convert to euros. :sad2:

On the TV show side, I have been checking my local PBS listings to see if I can find the new season of Rick Steves. His new shows include 3 on Rome, 2 on Florence, 2 on Venice and as a bonus one on London and 2 on Paris...

I set our DVR to capture all the shows, but so far none of the new ones have shown up... Oh, well....

I have been to Venice before, but am anxiously awaiting the excursions to come out.

I would like to go to the Murano Glass Factory. Anyone been there before?

It's a wonderful place to go. You can order any of the pieces in any color and they will make it and ship it to your home.

Hi,

My mom and dad are going on this cruise and she is trying to edit her information on the Roll Call, but she's not having any luck. Any tips or suggestions? I tried to edit it for her using the link in the first post, but the spreadsheet is not editable.

Also, she and my dad with love to link dining. Her and I linked with Diser's on our Hawaii cruise and she really enjoyed it. Any plans to do so on this cruise?

Thanks!

Krista

Hi Krista,
Maybe send a private message to nzdisneymom for help with editing the info on the roll call.
My family is still trying to decide on early or late dining so can't link up until we settle that:headache:
Things are still a little slow on this thread, but hopefully picking up soon.
Have your parents joined the facebook page yet?
That seems to get a little more posting :confused3

Krista - the roll call spreadsheet itself should be editable by anyone - but it might be that you have to have a google docs account. If you want to PM me the info, I can go ahead and edit it for them.

Sounds great, I'll PM you, nzdisneymom and direct my mom to the FB page. Thank you to both of you for your help! :)

Ok, I think I finally found the right setting so everyone can self-edit anything that needs to change on their rollcall information on the spreadsheet. If someone wants to see if it's working, here's the info again:

Add yourself to the Who's Sailing spreadsheet here: Roll Call Form. You can also sign up for the Fish Extender through the same form. You should be able to see your entry (and make modifications later on if you need to) here.

I think you should be able to edit it without having to have a google account. They don't make it easy.

Thanks for doing this:thumbsup2
My kids make fun of me because I am spreadsheet deficient
The one type of software I don't need for my job, thankfully...

Being Human is on in a few minutes...
Anyone else watch the show??
My DH likes to make fun of it (a werewolf, vampire and ghost living together sounds like a bad joke), but I am enjoying it:cool1:

So I also watch Grim, Once Upon a Time, Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother....

Thanks to DVR I even go out sometimes :rotfl:

Doing the paid in full dance!!! :cool1: It's SOOO official now and the excitement has really kicked in! We are doing a few private excursions, and are ready to book the ones through Disney when the time allows. Wish Venice excursions would be listed! It was approximately 1 year ago when we booked this cruise. It's getting close!:thumbsup2

Still haven't heard of anyone doing the pre-cruise 3-night Adventures by Disney in Barcelona.

We'll be paid in full soon too:cloud9:
I thought I saw someone on the mainboards asking about the pre-cruise ABD, but not sure if they were with our sail date...:confused3

Getting excited here too:goodvibes

Since I am cruising with dgs without my dh I will be at Palo's by myself. I have no problem with this but if someone would like to join me since the table will be for 2, then let me know.

Not sure if you all saw this on the main DIS page so I am repeating it here..

The drinking age aboard ship is 21. Valid photo I.D. is required. Disney Cruise Line reserves the right to refuse sale and/or service to anyone.

In recognition of the expectations of our multi-national guests, for roundtrip cruises departing from European countries, where the legal drinking age is lower than 21, a parent or guardian who is sailing with his or her son(s) and/or daughter(s) and/or ward(s) who is between the ages of 18 and 20, may sign a beverage waiver allowing the 18 to 20 year old to consume alcoholic beverages while onboard. Parents or guardians may complete the beverage waiver in the Guest Ticket Booklet or inquire about the waivers upon check-in. Please note: The 18 to 20 year old must comply with all laws and Disney Cruise Line policies related to the consumption and distribution of alcohol in Europe, including among other things, agreeing to not provide alcoholic beverages to any other person, regardless of age. This policy is subject to change without notice."

I didn't know they allowed this on the Med cruises. I plan to sign the waiver for my DS19 as I trust he can handle it no problem.

I think this is something new. I don't ever recall them doing that. Definitely interesting that's for sure.

The shore excursions for the Greek itinerary are up, so we are hoping Venice and Dubrovnik aren't far behind.
