June 22 2008 Magical Mexican Riviera Cruise

Sorry to hear you're postponing your cruise, BethA. Maybe somebody will be able to pick up a Cat 1 at a "bargain" price. Won't be us...we're still down in steerage!:earboy2:

Oh my I too have vacationitis! I got some shopping done today, last day of school tomorrow....Trying to get organized, but....things are starting to pile up!:scared1: Who's heading to DL before the trip? Trying to get the DK's there before we set sail, but I'm not too sure.:confused3 Happy Packing & 11 days to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We head to DL on Wednesday!! DH started making a pile to pack today. Suitcases come out tomorrow which is my last day of work until 5/30!!!!

I just wanted to tell you guys we got picked as annual passholders to preview Toy Story Mania at California Adventure on Monday. As my DS would say "OMG". It is the coolest ride. :woohoo: We rode it again and again. If you like Buzz you will love this but they measure your accuracy so don't just shoot at anything (LOL). I forgot to look to see if there was a fast pass lane but there is one at Disney World so I would imagine we would have it to. For those of you heading to Disneyland before or after the cruise, ride it. Its going to be very popular so get there early or fast pass it (if they do have one). It opens on Tues. I saw so many of you saying you going to DL this next week so I thought I would chime in. Have fun!

my boys love the space ranger spin so we are looking forward to this ride. Hope the lines aren't horrenduous. Thanks for the review :goodvibes

Silly me thinking our cruise clothes would fit in one big bag - HA. No place for the suits already. Got the boys and DH down to one pair of dockers and a suit for pants....I'm having a bit more trouble..... I either buy a new bag or unload some stuff.....:confused3

Well, since we've done this a few times before, I requested that, upon return to to our house post-cruise last time, we all open our suitcases and get pictures taken of what we didn't wear/use. Guess what? About half OR MORE of what we packed never even made it out of our bags! So here's what we learned:
For the Mex cruise, we absolutely used a sweatshirt each, and maybe a windbreaker on top, if we liked to get up early and hang out on deck 4 (me). Otherwise, it was shorts and t-shirts every day.
Two bathing suits max per person. One can dry while the other is used. Nobody is impressed with a different suit each day. Nobody notices. They, like me, only notice that the "Drink of the Day" changes each day.
One formal outfit. No, not the "maybe I'll want to go back to the stateroom and change between entree and dessert" deal. You get your picture by Steamboat Willie, you dine extravagantly, you drop kids at the program, you go to the adult shows, etc., all in one outfit that night. And you are elegant in your one outfit wherever you go during those duties!
Captain Thor won't mind if you talk to him in the same outfit you wore to Formal Night. He's wearing the same one, too.
Shoes. My wife has an entire 2nd house worth. The decks are all soft and warm. Try minimal shoes, and let your dogs go free! 3 or 4 pairs max.
OK, maybe I've been hard on special needs. A floppy hat does wonders to reduce sun rays while reading a book out on the veranda. And maybe you other guys can't part with that helmet that holds beer on either side of your temples (I'm bringing mine, but will promise to fill cups with tropical drinks). Anyway, each person should be allowed one personal wardrobe item that, no matter how controversial, shall absolutely be saluted while boarding!
Who's with me on these packing rules??
See you all in 10 days on the sail away party!
Buzz:cool1:

Good advise! We've stuck to the one formal outfit...it's the other 6 days that is killing me!

Hi there everyone....
I'm cutting in for a second to ask a favor if possible. I was on the WB repo in May and we were told that Alonso the server from Costa Rica had been let go. There are many of us wanting to know if this is true or not. Would someone be willing to ask at dinner and let me know?? I'd greatly appreciate it!

TIA!

I don't know whether there is too much time until vacation - or too little!

I'm stressing out over all the stuff at home that needs to happen before we leave on Wednesday!

Deep breathes...

Luggage is (thankfully) about the one thing I'm not real worried about. We're able to fly first class back home (not on the way out - but I'm DEFINITELY NOT complaining!) - and that means we can each take up to 3 bags weighing 70lbs each.:rolleyes1

If we max that out...well - I don't even want to think about it!

Well gang, we'll all be out at sea one week from today!
Does anybody know of a nice hotel an hour or two north of the Long Beach port? We're coming from the Sacramento area, and will take the "scenic" drive down the 5, sometime Saturday afternoon. Would like to find a place like the Embassy Suites, so we can get into the vacation mode, and be able to get up not so early for the final sprint to the awaiting stevedores.
Thanks....see you really soon!

My husband, a Pixar animator, and I will be on board this cruise. He was chosen to represent Pixar for the release of Wall-e that will occur at 12:00am on the 27th and will be giving presentations about Pixar and the making of Wall-e. Soooo excited to be joining you!!:goodvibes

How exciting! My son had predicted when we booked this cruise (forever and ever ago!) that we would get to see the premEAR of Wall-e onboard. We're traveling with celebrities!

One week to go...I can't wait. I just finished the grocery shopping for the week, and I kept smiling when I would remember that next week, someone ELSE will be preparing all my meals! That's just about the best part of vacation.

I'm so glad to hear your husband will be speaking on the cruise. Learning some of the behind the scenes is always so neat. ;) ;)
We have so much to do this week before we leave. My son has a baseball tournament and he will have games through Saturday night so we have to be packed and ready by Thursday. I'm definitely packing lighter this year We are so ready for a vacation and a disney cruise is the best:yay: :yay:

I've always been a huge Disney junkie. My grandparents live in Kissimmee next to WDW and we've gone many times, honeymoon included. I grew up in San Diego and went to Disneyland every summer for my birthday. It is such a treat to this and an extra luxury that the stateroom is comped for us. The only unfortunate part is our girls are too young to really enjoy this trip so they won't be coming, but we'll use it as a second honeymoon  and they'll just get to know their grandparents better.

Cannot wait! I love this site too. I've learned so many useful things just today!

How cool is that! We're happy to have you both on board! Did you end up getting a working vacation out of the deal. What a perk that would be!!! I'll be sure to go to the presentation your husband will be doing. We LOVE the Pixar films :goodvibes

Hey Guys,
I got a UPS envelope from DCL today...in it was our baggage tags and other stuff. We were booked on a (last-minute) Cat 12 guarantee, but the bag tags show us on a Deck One, outside stateroom, which is a Cat 9. Small portholes, but now we'll have a view...and right near the waterline, where my DS and I like to see the ship "going fast!" It's also about halfway between the elevators, far enough (but still close) from the tender gangway.
We're very thankful to DCL....this will be our first upgrade of any sort in 6 cruises.
See you all soon,
Buzz and fam

You are very lucky, we were booked the same way and when we got our tags we were moved to a Cat 10, still an inside room, but at least it has the split bathroom setup which helps when you have 4. We are also on level one. Anything Disney will be wonderful Only 4 more days
