Hi. I smile at the veteran comment :goodvibes For the boys first cruise I had Shirley at the Perfect Gift (she's on the boards too) do up gift boxes for the boys. For you boys age, perhaps some sand toys, a water bottle, etc. She is wonderful for suggesting what to put in it. The gifts were waiting in our state room when we arrived.

Remember to bring along autograph books and of course your camera ;) Shutters will take a professional picture of almost any character interaction but feel free to get up there yourself and take a picture. They never mind.

My boys favorite perk is the 'free' ice cream machine on deck 9. They couldn't believe they could get it whenever they wanted to.

As for excursions, I hear the dolphin encounter that is offered at one of our ports of call is spectacular. Alas, my teens are beyond that but yours are at a good age (don't know about your little one).

Don't forget dollar bills to tip room service (another big thrill for my boys) and an over the door shoe holder for organizing your stuff (game boys, flip-flops, camera, sun glasses, etc)

Hope this helps!
Teresa

That would be fun! We live just a bit west of Ann Arbor. Can't wait for our trip!!!:woohoo:

We will be there! Third Disney cruise & sooooo excited. We went in 2005 to Mexico & we were on th Christmas voyage in 2002 out of Florida! Looking forard to some fun! My kids are an 8 year old boy and a 4 year old girl. We are going with the HUBBY's family, 19 of us total. We are doing the dolphin encounter (my daughter & I) in Cabo & my hubby & son are doing the dolphin swim there. In Mazatlan we will be heading to El Cid hotel & woop it up in their pool. Finally, In PV we are heading to Las Caletas for a day of fun. Hard to do too much with a 4 year old (too many age restrictions). Anyway...it sounds like this is going to be one big FIESTA!:dance3:

Welcome aboard! :goodvibes

Well, the countdown has begun. Only 38 days until the cruise and so much to do before. My DD will graduate high school the first week of June and all the activities that go with that are keeping us busy. We will be so ready to relax. When I went to sign up for excursions the teen ones were already filled so I guess there will be quite a few on board? My DD is 18 and my DS is 17. Look forward to seeing all of you soon.:yay: :yay:

Our sons are 17 also. Looks like they'll have company in the Stack :goodvibes

ONLY 37 days??? I better stop eating or wire my mouth shut NOW! So excited for this trip! I have taken out my suitcases, but haven't started packing....YET! Everyone on these boards seems:cheer2: so friendly with great ideas and tips, please pass on ANY good info. Thanks & see you all soon!

The Magic is now in OUR ocean! Anyone watch it go through the Panama Canal today? I had to be away from the computer, but I'm going to go search for some pics.

Yes, I'm getting REALLY excited now!

Rebecca

We will be heading to the port in a few days to welcome the Magic to LA. It is great to be so close...gets the kids (& me) excited. Going to DL this weekend to get my princess & her cousin a lovely dress. I can't stand it...I'm ready to go NOW! The kids don't even get out of school til the 12th! See you all there!:woohoo:

I never thought we would get this close! My 6 year old is super excited!!! Even my husband is talking alot about it! Yes any good ideas please pass along! tksbaskets had some good ideas on page seven so keep em coming!!!

Tips from Teresa part deux:

 Bring your kid's sunglasses for the lifeboat drill. They line you up tallest in the back, shortest in the front. IF your muster station is on deck (ours was) the sun is brutal!

 Bring a plastic 8 1/2 x 11" envelope with a tie closure. They are $1.09 at Staples. (Smead UltraColor Envelope. Side loading. Letter size) It is a super place to store your cruise mementos for safe keeping. As such.

 BRING A HIGHLIGHTER for your navigator. Get an extra each day and stuff it in your plastic envelope so a copy stays nice. The other copy I used to highlight activities we wanted to participate in. This copy I throw in my tote bag or fold and put in my pocket for a reference. It also helps when you get home to remember what you did ;)

 Use a 3 x 5 index card for each day. Journal what you did and your thoughts. You will think you'll never forget your server's name but if you are behind on your scrapbooking like me, you'll be glad you wrote it down. Include the weather each day too.

 If you have more than one thing that needs charging, bring along a surge protected plug strip. Outlets are at a premium in your cabin.

OK, more later....

Thanks for the tips & it's nice to share in the excitement with other people that are going to be on the trip with us. Can you please explain the "fish extenders" to me? Who are they used for? What about magnets? I've heard all kinds of rumblings about magnets, but these boards are HUGE! Any info would be GREATLY appreciated!:cool1:

You have a message fish outside your room. It is used to put cards/communications. Ours was used by the counselors in the Stack to leave messages for the boys. A fish extender is usually a fabric dealie with pockets that has a wooden dowel with a string/ribbon to hang down from the fish. The pockets are used for card and gift gathering. Unless you are expecting LOTS of mail, you probably don't need to worry about getting one.

Magnets, ah, what fun! Your cabin door is metal and as such you can decorate it with magnets. Here is our door from our last cruise.

Michigan Wolverines is our team! The year we cruised over NYE they were in the Rose Bowl. Don't ask me about the outcome....:rolleyes1

Ok.. So I will be getting annying with only 5 weeks til we set sail. My family & extended family are getting a big old kick out of what I am finding out...so I need MORE. Today's question is in regards to giving the stateroom attendant, waiter, & asst. waiter small token gifts??? I have caught this on a couple of the other threads, but no ideas of what you actually give them. Is this something you have heard of/do? Happy Sunday & happy countdown. Heaading to DL today to pick up supplies! BUT it is HOT!:beach: Thanks for the info!

we were at that game, sitting in the family section of that other team. we were loud and obnoxious up until the third quarter. my husband remembers that as the day he officially hated that other team.
i am interested in the gifts too!!!
