My wife and I are looking into a Disneyland trip for next year during our anniversary. We would be staying from June 8th to June 15th and would love to stay at the Grand Californian. We had an amazing time this past March, but have some concerns with opening of Galaxy's Edge. We are not planning on having too many park days (2 or 3 at most) because we want this trip to be more resort focused. We are both Star Wars fans and will definitely look forward to seeing the new land, but should we avoid Disneyland next summer?

Disney and especially DLR will almost always have something new and wonderful every summer. Whether it be Pixar Pier this year, GOTG last year, CarsLand in 2012, Finding Nemo Subs in 2007, plus all the years in between and before, there is something new and wonderful. If you want to avoid such things you just have to not go to DLR. Ever. :teacher:

Will Stars Land be big? Well of course. But remember the refurb on POTC to add Jack Sparrow - a ride decades old - drew massive crowds and lines up to 6 hours in length. Disney fans love their parks and will draw huge crowds for things that seem of minor importance.

So in answer to your question, I do not see why anyone would avoid DLR next summer because of SWGE unless they are willing just to avoid DLR altogether.

Thanks for the response HydroGuy. There is still so much my wife and I would like to do at DLR. I will keep what you said in mind when booking our trip. Maybe we will decided that WDW will be the better route to go before their SWL opens.

P.S. loved your WDW veteran's guide to Disneyland. That was a huge help for our March trip.
