June 2013 pin code watch !

I think Disney is trying to drive me insane. We got another pin code in the mail....the same one we've been getting. Only this one is for all of December. (great if we were going in December!!)

It's funny, it says "Hey ____ Family ! Finish planning your vacation with these special offers !"

Hey thanks Disney...I'd LOVE to finish planning our trip, if only you would send me a pin for the month/year we are going! :rotfl2: Fingers are crossed that they keep on coming until we actually hit a June pin code!!! :worship:

Hi back :wave2: No Deluxe resort for us in June since we are going for 15 days :cool1: (June 5-19) But I am hopeful there will be a bounceback offer in June that covers early November so we can do YC CL again!!

POFQ is my first choice among mods for the smaller size and 1st on and off the buses when sharing with POR. But lately POFQ has only been giving a 5% discount while POR has had 20-30% off (depending on what kind of rate/time of year). That would be a $450-$700 savings over 2 weeks by jumping to POR vs POFQ. I won't be miserable if we have to stay at POR but I much rather be at POFQ!

As for SWW, we will just take a cab those 3 days to make sure that we make it early enough. But I will miss the walking path from YC to DHS!!

Okay, gotcha. So your preference is POFQ (mine too!) but you may have to switch if POR is offering a better discount -- makes sense. Lucky you going for 15 days! We only go once a year but I'm trying to save some money in June so I can afford to go back in October of next year. I really, really want to go to MNSSHP. Since that will be a shorter trip for us, we might try AoA or POP.

It's a good sign that you're at least getting them. I haven't gotten one in probably 2 years and I have no idea why (I'm still subscribed to all of the same things I have always been :confused3). Maybe you'll be one of the first to get the coveted June PIN! :cool1:

At least you get them! We haven't since 2010. Now that we are AP holders they know we are hooked! But my TA is fabulous & gets a discount rate applied as soon as they are available, sometimes before even I see they are out!

Fingers crossed that the discounts come early again this year!

How early did June discounts come out last year? I looked at the historical discounts and one for the general public didn't come out until sometime in May in 2012.

Believe me, I'm VERY glad we're on the list... I'm just hoping the luck doesn't run out the end of this year! ;)

I looked up the discounts from last year, and it looks like there were June room discounts announced in the beginning of November. Then they ran them again in Jan / Feb. I'm hoping that it will be Oct / Nov this year....

If you go onto Disney's website, the current discounts through December 2012 end on Sept 29. So maybe they'll start putting out the 2013 discounts at that time. pixiedust: Here's hoping!

Ah ok, maybe I was looking at the wrong thing. Knowing me, that's highly possible. We were going to try and wait until we know for sure when the last day of school will be but now I'm not too sure. Our school systems builds 4 days into the year for snow, emg closings, etc and will release the last day of school around March. Last year the kids got off two days early and the year before I think it was 3 days early. I'd like to go the week of June 15th vs June 22nd because I think the crowds will be ever so much lighter but I guess in the grand scheme of things it really doesn't matter. As it is now, the last day of school is June 19th.

On that note, what happens if I book with a discount or pin but then need to change my dates at the end of March? Will I get to keep the existing discount I have? Let's dream and say they come out with a 30% off or free dining pin, as long as my dates fall within that pin I should be able to keep that discount, right?

I called yesterday & the CM told me to start checking for pins for June end of September, beginning of October. : )

YAY!!! Here's to hoping logging into Disney and playing around almost every day will work!

Through June 14 2012 came out in November 2011

As long as you booked something before the pin expired, then yes, you can switch to something else later (within the offered dates). But subject to resort availability etc.

Couple of more questions -

The emails you get with the pins....Who are they from? Disney Insider? I don't get many disney emails at all.

Second, what is the best disney guide book out there?

Hoping for GREAT Discounts for June '13...We're planning on the 10th - 19th.

I'm kinda new to all of this, this is my first post, but it seems to me that this board has LOADS of info...

previous ones came from Disney Destinations. It has been awhile since I have gotten one though. I am tickling the WDW website to see if the helps.

There are a number of guide books. I have read several. If you search the Theme Park Strategy forum you should find numerous threads.

My inputs (which you might find in those threads)

Unofficial Guide - the most comprehensive guide out there. I have used it for things like picking my rental car company in Orlando. You get the normal restaurant and resort reviews but there are some sections you won't find in other books. The one I reference probably the most is the travel time between WDW locations; parks, resorts, etc. You used to get perks for owning the books (site access) but now you have to pay for these. They have touring plans, crowd estimates a fast pass and wait time app, etc

Passporters has a lot of touring information. To me it is best for carrying your planning with you. It has great maps, sheets for itineraries and reservation numbers, pockets for holding items and other features.

Passporter and UG both have updates to their books on their sites. These often go to print in August/September and Disney changes things often.

Complete Guide to WDW is a smaller guide I like. It has the normal ride/resort/restaurant reviews. It has great pictures. (The UG has a companion book that is mainly pictures and costs as much as the Complete Guide.) My favorite part is the ride detail and the interesting things to see in the parks. Their description of Haunted Mansion is almost overwhelming. I read little sections before each time.

I'm not a fan of Birnbaum. There are some.

The Hidden Magic author has a new guide book that I haven't seen.

Some libraries have copies. You can take a couple for a test drive before buying.
