awww Dltnboz3mom, I'm sorry. Its does stink to save for a trip and have to spend it on emergencies. Agree with Darkfirewolfe that January is less crowded and usually more pleasant here weatherwise.

Shopping for DH's weight losss continued today with a pair of jeans and a new belt, because even his belt was too big. I got into the act today and saved 50% off a pair of dress capris at Ann Taylor loft outlet.

Yeah, so excited for you guys. Believe me the buying is a lot easier than the selling. Which is what brought me to this thread. My house finally sold after being on the market for a year. While packing I realized just how much "stuff" I have. I don' think I will need to buy any shampoo, body wash etc for the rest of the year, if not two. So my goal is to not buy any personal care products, clothes, books, magazines or jewelry this month.

I made so many trips to the recycler and goodwill that it probably cost me a tank of gas.

I'm glad to know other people understand my dependence on sunglasses! I bought an ok pair on Sat. I think I'm going to visit our wonderful optician and put myself in his expert hands. He created the lenses for my last pair, and this time around I think I need better (nonbreakable! ) frames.

Thanks for all of the congrats on our eating out streak -- we made it to 12 before we went out tonight. After hosting a 3 hour long roller skating party for a dozen 9 year olds this afternoon, I wasn't up for cooking!

Speaking of gift giving....I got my Father's Day gift and 2 baby gifts today, along with some groceries and general house hold items that have been on my "to get" list for a while.

Rite Aid has a coupon in their ad this week to get a $25 iTunes card for $20. That was nice because I was planning to get him an iTunes card but I only wanted to spend $20 (I got my mom a $20 Starbucks card for Mother's Day). But the cards in the stores are only in $15, $25, and $50 denominations and I didn't want to get the email version- I wanted a gift card to put in with the card. So this worked out great!

One baby gift is to take to a friend tomorrow in the hospital; she had the baby today! The other is for a baby shower at the end of this month. I figured I'd buy the stuff while I was with a friend who knows how to navigate the baby section. The last time I was looking for something in the baby department I was texting her that I did not think the product existed! I just could NOT find a thing!

Yep! I live about an hour from NO, in the middle of no where... we each have quite a commute every day, for work and the kids' school. I think we had a king cake discussion back around Mardi Gras? That was my first month attempting no-buy, so far doing much better than I did then! Thanks for all of your ideas, checking this thread every day is definitely helping.

Ah, yes ....king cake! My local snowball stand still has king cake flavor. It's quite sweet, and tastes approximately like a king cake!

Do you commute to the city? You're not affected by the flooding are you?

Just curious here....do you put gravy on your fries? We took a family trip to Alberta back in about 2002 or so. They knew we were from the States simply by wanting ketchup and not gravy. Is that common across Canada or is it more regional?

Congratulations on selling your house! And it's great that you found so many things to use up and not have to buy. I am currently using up a whole drawer full of WDW shampoos and soaps.

Ishould have no problem making this June a No-Buy, as I have absolutly no money left! Lightening struck our TV and we have a $250.00 deductible on our home owners. Later the same night the transmission in my car went out costing $150.00 for towing and another $2000.00 for repair bill. These two events took all of my money that had saved for my 40th Birthday trip for Disney in July! I am going to begin to rebuild the funds for possibly a January trip. Have never been so sad! Best of luck to everyone this month! I gain hope and inspiration from all of the Successess that you guys post so keep em coming because I need some Cheering UP!

What a BUMMER!! I do agree with the PPs - January's weather is typically preferable to July! I hope you are able to make a January trip happen!

Now I'm curious.... I don't think my deductible is $250. I think it's more like $2500. Okay...I checked. It IS $2500 or 2% (hurricane). Flood is $1000 building/$1000 contents. I'm always nervous lightning could strike near enough to fry my electronics. I'd be very upset if it got the computer hard drives - I'd lose a ton of pictures.

Not so great today. Went to lunch with some friends, but it had plenty of leftovers for dinner! I also picked up a free gift from The Body Shop (love this place). They had a promotion a while ago where I could buy a big tote bag and everything I can fill it with I would get 30% off, as well as a free gift for 4 weeks after the promotion ends. I love it! Saved $18 on the product. It was something I had been wanting to try out too.

If I eat just fries, then it's usually with ketchup. Some people will eat their fries with mayo though. I think that might be more of a European thing. As for gravy, the only time I have gravy with my fries is when I eat a Poutine, which is basically fries, gravy and cheese curds.

Hello No Buy Friends! After a few months off I'm back. We're in our new house, all unpacked and ready to move forward with this phase of our life. I'm still a little iffy on my budget because I haven't gotten a set of utility bills for the new house yet. We're in a much bigger house in a new city with new providers, so I have no real idea what to expect. For this month, I'm hoping for 7 no buys and 7 days under $10. I'm so glad to be back!

June 1 $20 Dh's PT, $35 groceries, $7 took the boys to the movies- tickets were $1 each and I got us all a water to drink, $15 Subway after the movies.

June 2 $6 took the boys bowling- the games were free but I had to pay for shoe rental.

June 3 $40 groceries- had dinner with my parents, they wanted me to bring a few different things so I had to stop at the store and get a few misc. groceries.

June 4 $55 race fees for DH and both boys, $40 celebratory pancakes after the race.

June 5 $90 groceries. I'm hopeful tomorrow will be a no buy day. Getting back in to the swing of this is tough!
