June 2007 Rate/Code Watch

Keeping my fingers crossed for a room only discount. We have reservations at the Poly from July 9-15. Does anyone have any idea what the savings on a room only might be? Is it usually 10%, 20%? I'm just curious. I can't say I'd be saving money...I'll just find another way to spend it at WDW :rolleyes1

Mousesavers is reporting free dining for checkins 8/26 to 9/22 to Disney Visa customers. They are also reporting that it will be open to everyone on April 12th. Must book by June 24th. Won't work for us but hopefully some of you out there will be able to use it. Jay

JJ,

I am sooooooo glad you're going in June. :) Thanks for doing your daily check.

:thanks:

You can book room only w/ AAA discount through Disney. For AAA discount w/ a package you will have to book through AAA.

Thank you HockeyMomR!

Is it worth booking a whole package with them?

I cancelled my original booking with WDTC and even joined AAA to book a package through them. We saved $236 using AAA - staying at POR for 8 nights at the end of June.

I just became a member when I got my new job because I drive quite a bit to get to work. I think I'll call them and see what they can offer me. Disney is offering me the package I want with dining for close to $1200 so I'll see what AAA can offer me.

Thank you all for your help.

I am full from all the free dinning the past month. To the people who got it congrats. It is time for July to go to the top of the page.popcorn::

Does anyone have any educated guesses on if and what resorts will be discounted? It seems that the resorts that are full (at least July 8-17) are the YC/BC and Contemporary. There is a lot of availibility at the WL - which frankly surprises me - and also at the GF and AKL. BWI and Polynesian have some availibility. The mods all have availibility....

So now I'm thinking that Disney might discount only certain resorts, kind of like what they did last year. Right now I have a AAA discount at the Polynesian, but would happily switch to the GF or WL if an AP rate comes out for those and not the Polynesian - especially if the bottom line is less than what I'm paying at the Polynesian.

I emailed my DU agent last night about this speculation but haven't heard anything back...

Any ideas floating around out there???

Do you know if this is the pre-tax or with tax price? I'm trying to figure out exactly what our difference would be. Right now we are booked at ASMu for $127.xx per night June 15-21. We would be willing to switch resorts (to whatever value resort we can get with AAA rate) if we are really going to save $35 per room per night as we have 2 rooms booked ~ this would save us $420 for the week.
TIA for any info...off to call AAA about a membership now! :thumbsup2

That is pre-tax. I believe the rate with tax is $104.70 per night.

Thank you for the AAA info ~ we are not AP holders and already have our tickets for this trip so it looks like AAA would be our best bet for any kind of June discount. It is still a good savings and every little bit helps! :yay:

This is exactly what I've been thinking. Our dates are also July 8-17 and I check daily to see what is available. As you said YC/BC and Contemporary are the only ones showing no availability. I didn't play around with the dates though, so those may have some rooms open but not for all our nights. So, I think we may see some AP rates at specific resorts like last year. I'm staying very flexible for this trip. I think we'll see something offered at the first of May, once all this free dining hoopla dies down.

We didn't go to WDW in July last year but have the past few years, but have always found the parks to be surprisingly empty during the last week of July. (We go back to school the first week of August, so this trip is usually the last hurrah of the summer.) Oftentimes, we don't plan this trip until the very last possible moment. We've never had any difficulty getting the resort and even the view/level that we've wanted, including the WL 2 years ago. Of course, theme park attendance seems to be on an upswing; so there's no guarantee this will continue to hold true.
