June 2007 Rate/Code Watch

No codes today (not that I expected them on a Saturday). In another post, I read the Poly was full. It wasn't full as of today, but availability was limited. I needed to modify my ressie and the LVC was sold out, but only for the AAA rate. There were rooms without it.

Okay. I've been out of it for about a week with extremely long hours at work. This thread needs a bit of bumping.

Too much back and forth on free dining for the late August and September crowd. I'm happy for all those who can make it. :goodvibes But, I hope they can throw us poor July folks some kind of bone. :sad1:

Any other AP holders starting to feel like we're getting the cold shoulder? Free Dining for packages but nothing for AP holder June and July? I hope I'm wrong but its not a good feeling. It seems like so many of us got passed over for the 40% code and now this. Doesn't loyalty deserve some reward?

That's how I feel too! It seems like if you have a Disney Visa you are the priority now over AP holders :confused3

I know the AP doesn't "entitle" us to a discount, but I do feel like AP holders often get the short end of the deal. Interestingly, I played around with our dates of July 8-16 today and found availability EVERYWHERE in just about all room categories. I'm not giving up on an AP rate for July yet. I'm flexible about our resort and dates to a certain degree. I'm still hoping something comes up soon.

Maybe I'm just feeling grumpy because I'm just starting to get over the worse flu of my life but with all the talk about August free dining it's like - hello, what happened to June and July! Our dates are June 28-July 12th and they are showing availability everywhere in almost every category except CR. Maybe we will get something (and I know we're not "entitled") but sometimes it does feel like Disney forgets who their most loyal customers are.

We spent 16 days in July 2006, 6 days in January 2007 and we'll finish up these APs with another 15 days in our June/July trip - 37 days in one calendar year. Can you imagine the amount we've spent on food and such? Plus the kids are always signed up for kids actitivities etc.

Don't you think they could at least cut us a break of say 20-25% and send out less of the 40% discounts to non-AP holders?

I can see everyone's point of view in terms of June/July being sandwiched between 40% off codes for March/April/May and the liklihood of free dining in Aug./Sept. I'm an AP holder and we have gone to WDW 2x a year for the past 8 years or so. I have a AAA rate at the Polynesian for July 8 - 17, 2007. I figure that the offers (codes, AP rates, etc.) are put into effect when booking is down. But Disney doesn't have to offer discounts if they are already filled...so instead of getting indignant and bitter (which I easily could) I just think how lucky I am to get to go to WDW as often as I do. Would I like a discount? Heck yeah! Am I expecting one or feel entitled to one? No...I'm going to DISNEY for goodness' sake! Besides, if it was all about the deal or discount, I wouldn't travel in July. I'd go in May or September...

JMHO.

Well I don't think its bitterness to wonder why AP holders shouldn't be first in line when there ARE discounts. We're booked at YC June 28-July 5 and Poly JUly 5-12 and we have a AAA rate. However every deluxe but CR is showing lots of availability for those dates so I don't think they are close to being sold out. I'm not saying that an AP automatically entitles you to a discount, I just think AP holders should be the first place discounts are offered, at least a little more than a AAA rate. JMHO.

I have to say, the Swan rates are looking a whole lot more appealing. . .

I spoke to Disney on Thursday and they said now is the time to watch for discounts. Whatever that means!;-) I am waiting for a AAA room to open up anywhere besides AS Sports.

I am probably cancelling my July trip because all of a sudden we're going in the middle of May for a business trip. We are staying at the Swan this time.

There is still hope for July discounts, though....I just received my AAA annual renewal stuff in the mail and it is for expiration of 5/15...I joined AAA last yr just for the July discounts and then the next week in May the great Epcot resort AP rates came out much better than the AAA rates. So hold out hope! There's still time.

I hope Disney comes thru for you all. :)

I am excited about going in May :cool1: .....the sooner the better! Just called for all my ADRs and got everything I wanted this close to the trip. Yay!

June 19-27, I was told none of the values had aaa available. We just returned from a 7 day cruise two weeks ago, so we were wanting to make this trip as inexpensive as possible.

Channing,

How exciting! So glad the ADRs came through for you. Please let me know how your family likes the Swan. I am verrrry close to switching. Just sort of feeling like Disney is leaving the AP holders out in the cold. I already have AAA and maybe I'm just jumping the gun.

Glad for your family though. Have a wonderful time.

We are going June 12-18 and all they had for AAA availabilty was AS Sports. I keep hearing not great things about it so I am crossing my fingers they will open up more AAA rooms in another value. Maybe when everyone switches their ressies to get the free dining in Aug.!

Thanks, Robyn. I have stayed at the S/D a couple times before and they are nice, but I keep checking the AP rates online for YC. Sigh. It's just a bit more, trouble is DH's conference isn't right at WDW, so it may look kind of bad for him to turn in an expense report with WDW YC on it, lol. Sheraton/Westin Swan looks more acceptable.;) (kind of, haha)

I will keep my fingers crossed for you for those AP rates!! I am really thinking mid May. I already cancelled our July flights and booked May. Love SWA. I have a GF November stay to look forward to, also. :goodvibes So the Swan will have to do it for my WDW fix til then!

Happy planning!

I wouldn't expect many discounts for summer this year. Last year there were no July discounts & we didn't go. Have APS this year & don't plan on going. It's very busy this year because of the Year of A Million Years & booked even off season. Hope you all get lucky they have some but with the new package coming out for end of Aug. it seems as though they skipped summer.

They had discounts at the Epcot resorts last year in July.
