Cast: DH-49, DS-20, DD-18, and me;) All of us are very health conscious and really tried to stay on-point. Luckily, WDW is a wonderful place for allowing us to do so! Very healthy food choices everywhere we went.
Our philosophy is to try a few new spots each trip. We use the DDE plan. DH and I were celebrating our 25th anniversary and had a pin on:
Biergarten: wonderful as always. this was our first evening meal there and a meat carving station was added along with some new menu choices since last summer. The price was steep ($40) but we were starving from our travel and a buffet like this is just what we need. their vanilla cheesecake dessert is still to-die-for.
DHS for Star Wars. We did Brown Derby: first time there. we did lunch. DH and DS had the steak and loved loved loved it. DD had the barbq chicken salad--meat was excellent but the remainder was simply a lettuce blend with a somewhat salty green goddess dressing. let me say that DD only eats 1000 island dressing, so she was not going to like it anyway. Great bread basket--warm and they kept refilling. I had the cobb salad and had been anticipating it for months! slightly disappointed in the saltiness of it plus the lettuce was not simply shredded, it was super-shredded to the extreme! and I think they forgot the dressing:( if it was on, I couldn't taste any. We would do it again and all order the steak, but for $100, we'll probably try somewhere else next year. Service was impeccable and the atmosphere was classy and comfortable. Mama Melrose in the evening: a favorite with us. DH had the spicy sausage pasta, DS and DD had the chicken parmesan, and I had the creamy basil/tomato pasta. All good, although I think I will go back to the wood fired pizza next time. The pasta was ok, but I missed the pizza!
Tonys at MK for lunch: This was one of our best for the trip. I had the shrimp scampi, DH and DD had the lasagna style pasta, and DS had a pizza with mozzerella and grilled chicken. All yummy! They brought out a cake drizzled with chocolate and raspberry and the whole place sang to us for dessert. Very unexpected and very appreciated. Ohanas for evening. Easily one of the best of the trip. The menu items are all great as far as we're concerned. the noodles replaced the potatoes, so that was a disapointment at first, but I found that with a little of the peanut sauce, the noodles were wonderful--slightly lemony and very al dente for a great texture. I always tend to overeat on the potatos anyway, so this way I could enjoy the other items more! entire family got leius and DH and I danced a bit with another couple celebrating #7. We then got 2 small decorated cakes which I proceeded to box up since the banana dessert with vanilla bean ice cream is more than ample. DH got his second scoop added again by nicely begging:) . Sci Fi for lunch. Very good. everyone got burgers this time and what a burger! they are huge and you can ask for a variety of vegetable toppers. DS and I got the melon salsa side and DH/DD got fries. the movie trailers were updated so that was nice to see something different along with the old favorites. DS ordered chili and since it came late with the burgers, the CM gave it to him free:) we thought that was very nice. Plaza at MK for evening meal: I got the rueben with german potato salad, rest got their burgers and fries. DS loved my potato salad, so he ended up eating most of it. Very nice respite for the hordes who were at MK that day. We are so happy to have "found" this spot a few trips ago. None of us opted for a milk shake or ice cream soda based on experience that it is too filling. But they are wonderful--just share some entrees because the ice cream items are huge! RFC at AK. I absolutely LOVE the coconut chicken tenders appetizer. You get 6 large pieces and I add a clam chowder to be pleasantly full. DH always orders the ribs and DS/DD the pizza and mozzerella sticks. I splurged and ordered the margarita smoothey--too sweet for my taste and I couldn't taste a trace of liquor, so won't do that again. We agreed not to do RFC next trip. We'll fill that spot with someplace new. Finally for lunch, Tuttos at Italy: what a wonderful place! very rich appointments and interior and they don't shuttle you into one of those nasty side rooms like Alfredo's always did. I had the creamy parmesan pasta with peas and proscuitto. It was easily my favorite entree of the entire trip! Rest had the lasagna which was a large portion with many ingredients but it was almost tasteless:confused3 I can't figure out how. DH and DS were ok with it, but DD will order my entree next trip. They brought out a wonderful chocolate mousse dessert with raspberry for our anniversary and sang an Italian song for us. Very nice. Server was the best we had the entire trip too. We knew the foodcourt at the ASMo was excellent, so I made sure to leave 4 open meals here. We weren't disappointed either: DS and DD love their pizza, alfredo, and chicken parmesan. DH and I find the taco salad, ice cream (I had 2 scoops one night for supper!), and make your own salad wonderful. The salad bar was new this year. they had a nice romaine or spring blend and you could add from 15 different toppings with london broil, chicken, or salmon filet on top. I was VERY impressed by the offerings: everything from walnuts and cranberries to blue cheese crumbles to small broccoli flowerettes. JUST GREAT for $8.19. For breakfast, I am addicted to the chocolate croissant with a bananna; DH has his pancake platter; DS brought his own healthy cereal and purchased fruit and milk. DD had the kids waffle plate with bacon. I like that as an adult, you are free to order the childs portion at any meal. I had the childs burger plate once and with the milk added into the cost, along with carrots and applesauce, it was a filling yet healthy meal. Don't ever think that the food courts at the Values are a lower-class fare--they are on a par with many of the sit-downs in the parks:thumbsup2
All in all the most consistently good meal plan of any of our trips. We chose to drink ice water with lemon at 90% of the meals, which saved us $12 right off the bat and really quenched our thirst much better than sodas. We saved the sodas and ice tea for the resort with our refillable mugs ($12.99). Next summer we will add TRex (downtown disney) and either Boma or Wilderness Lodge, maybe Yacht and Beach club for steaks.

Thanks for the reviews! We are going to try Tuttos next trip, and your pasta dish sounds great!

Yum - cheesecake, spicy sausage pasta, chicken parmesan, shrimp scampi, lasagna, cake, ice cream, chili, burgers, ribs, pizza..... My kind of health food! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the reviews. We're looking forward to trying Tutto on our next trip, but I'll remember not to choose the lasagna!

We had the lasagna and it was fantastic. The CM actually recommended it, so it may just depend on the night.

Tutto's was a fabulous choice for us, but it remains a mystery as to how an entree that looks simply mouth-watering had little taste:confused3 DS put tons of parmesan cheese on it, so that was ok with him; DH liked it ok. They also had a bread basket with seasoned olive oil and olives marinated in basil and orange peel. you could get those refilled at will. Its' on my agenda for 2009!
