June 20-21, 2018 Reason for SoCal AP Blockout?

Does anyone know the reason for So Cal APs to be blocked out those dates? (They are a Wednesday and a Thursday, making the So Cal passes blocked out 20-23, Wed-Sat.)

We are planning on going next spring, thinking mid April or early May, but I am wondering if pushing it out to June might be better as far as ride refurbs. However, we don't do well with huge crowds. All of the talk about the bottom two APs being blocked leading to lower crowd levels has me wondering if that week might work well for us (although if there is some sort of an event, that probably negates any benefit of the blocked APs).

Thank you once again, HydroGuy! I'm definitely going to consider that week. We go for 5 days, so maybe plan on Tuesday-Saturday? Plus, my older boys wouldn't have to miss any school!

We were there that week this year and those two days were less busy than the rest of our trip. Actually I felt like the crowds were decent the entire trip. My mom felt the park was busy though, so it is partly perspective.

Any other time of the year I would say weekdays. In the summer, definitely the weekend. So I would pick Wednesday through Sunday. That gives you a good deal of blockouts. And that Saturday is blocked to all but the most expensive passes, so it will likely be your least busy day even though it is a Saturday. It's so odd, but such is the nature of the blockout calendars.
