June 20, 2009 Magic

Haven't been to this post in a while. It was great reading everyone else's answers. Here are mine!

What is my first name? Jen

What is my favorite WDW ride? Splash Mountain

What am I looking forward to the most on the cruise? Palo

What is one thing that I want to do while on this cruise? Relax, Relax, and more relaxing

What is my favorite food /snack to eat on the cruise? Fresh fries dipped in chocolate soft serve

Favorite Disney character? Tinkerbell

Favorite WDW memory? My visit in 2000. It was my first visit with my husband.

If you were going to sing at Studio Sea -- what song? Not going to happen!

Favorite Disney movie? The Little Mermaid

What is one thing you plan to buy for yourself on the ship? Rainforest Pass

What would you like to see on the new Disney Cruise Ships? I think Disney knows what should be there more than me. :)

What excursions are you doing? None planned!

Where is your favorite place to eat in WDW? Our favorite DISNEY restaurant is Steakhouse 55 at Disneyland. However, at WDW we always enjoy Cali Grill, Sci Fi, Beaches and Cream...

What is the oddest thing you will pack on the trip? Not packing much! Most of our stuff is sitting in an Owner's Locker waiting for our return!

Are you going to WDW before or after your cruise? We are going Tuesday-Saturday before the cruise and staying until Tuesday after the cruise. We will be at SSR. :woohoo:

What is the best on-board activity in which you have participated? Twice Charmed

Lettie: Thanks for confirming what I suspected about the surcharge.

Pat: I'll be getting on the boat, as you come off for parasailing so you'll have to tell me how it was. I'm glad we'll have people we know on the Doubloon & a friendly face around Kidani. We own at BWV, but stay all over. DS 12 & I will only be there for one night. We are planning to rent a car one way each time. On the way from the boat, I'll drop off DH & youngest DS at the airport, while DS 12 & I will at Kidani for one night. How old our your DD? I have boys: Liam 12 & Patrick turns 9 on the cruise.

Anyone else going on the a.m. Doubloon ??

Can we all start signing posts w/ 1st names, so we start memorizing names, unless your name is in your DIS name, such as me, Jen, Mark, & ??

Mary: If I can speak when we're getting off the parasailing boat, I'll let you know how it was! Considering how freaked out I am about heights, I may still be hyperventilating when we get off! My girls are Jenny, 21, and Mary, 16 the day we get off the ship (which is why we're heading to WDW). We're debating if we want to hire a limo to take us to AKV, to treat her to a "disney car" as she calls them. Don't want to rent a car, DH is on vacation, so he doesn't want to drive (or sit in the passenger seat and go crazy over my driving!:rotfl:)

I'll look forward to seeing you come off the boat & kiss the ground. :worship: I'm sure you'll be fine.

Is a Disney car, the DCL bus?

My kids took limos the 1st two cruises & are now spoiled. They can't believe I'm renting a car. Many people have had great luck w/ Budget.

No a "Disney Car" is a limo. We used to take them to the airport for all of our trips, (which mostly were to WDW). When we started flying Southwest out of Midway, we started to drive ourselves and park in the garage. :)

I received the following info from my DU TA regarding the fuel surcharge:
The Fuel Surcharge was added to reservations booked between 04/01/2008 and 12/01/2008.
So if you booked your reservations before or after those dates you were not charged.

Hope this helps!

Congratulations, all...just 10 weeks to go until we're aboard the Magic!

It's getting closer....and I just got my FE gifts ready. Then I realizes I didn't have a FE to hang! I have to figure out how to make one now! Or can I buy one some where?

I got mine on ebay. Just search for Fish extender. There are non personalized for about $8 (shipping is free). The custom ones are more like $30.

I thought I would ask this here as I am sure those on the regular forum are sick of these questions. I can't find any answers thru search on this. Anyways, we are staying at Saratoga Springs before the cruise. Do I need to call the Disney Cruise Bus Express to make reservations for a pick up and if so how soon can I do that? And do they charge for this and if so how much? I heard they start pick up at around 11:30, but I was hoping to get on the Magic sooner than that since it will most likely be around 1 by the time the bus gets to the Magic. I told my DH that I am not going to be very patient waiting for a bus till 11:30! I will drive everyone nuts, LOL! He laughed because he knows I want to be at the Magic terminal early. If there is a fee we mind as well do a limo service and get there at the time I want to, LOL! I hope you can all help me with these questions.

I have a question about the fish fairies. Do we give a small gift everyday or do we make one goodie bag and choose one day to deliver? I have been reading on different boards and seeing different ways this is done?

I can't believe we are at the 10 week mark!:cool1:

I have a just turned 20 year old son who is concerned there will not be anybody in his age range. I was looking at some posted navigators and saw that there is a meet group for the 18-21 year old range. Does anybody know anything about this meet group from previous cruises? Anybody else have sons and daughters in this age group?

Sailing the Magic,
Jill

I remember on one of the cruises we were walking around late at night and chatted with some of the show dancers who were just out walking around. They were all young and willing to talk to anyone. I did see a young group too out and about during the day by the pools just hanging out. I think the clubs allow people 18 and older in at night for the dancing, so that is another way to met people.

Different cruises vote for different ways to do this. Some want to assign a date, some want to do little things more often. I vote that each of us should do whatever makes us happy. Some people may find it fun to sneak around and do little gifts a few times. Some may have just one gift. Some may want to do a bag. I say, go with whatever causes the most pleasure with the least stress :-)

I have an 11 year old who will enjoy sneaking around with gifts, so I will probably do small gifts several times.

What do you think?

I like this idea....I say we do this as well. Also are we going to have a Dis Meet sometime after we all board?

It doesn't appear anyone has answered your questions, so I will! Last June, we stayed at SSR, and used the Cruise bus. If you're not a patient person, then it's NOT the way you want to go! They picked up our luggage from the room exactly at 8:00, but the bus didn't pick us up until 12:45, so we got to the port around 2:00. Now, the plus side to this was we walked right up to the window to check in, and right on to the ship. However, if you want to be at the port as soon as possible, then I would suggest looking into a limo.

The cost is $69 per person, round trip, or $35 per person each way. You can call the cruise line to make the reservation.

That being said, we are going to use the bus service to get us to the port again this trip. We're staying at AKV this time (so hopefully our pick up time will be a little earlier). We just enjoy not having to deal with all of our luggage as we get on the ship! After the cruise, we're heading back to AKV, and we're taking a limo. I priced a few companies, the cheapest one way was $115, the most expensive was $140. (just as an fyi) :)

Has anyone else noticed that our cruise is still wide open as far as availability? There are even great cabins open for most catagories?

Do you think the ship will be a light load? Chance of getting upgrades??

What are your thoughts?
:thumbsup2

I just checked Category 7. Not only are there 10 or so rooms to select from, if you insert secret verandah room 7620, you can still select it. I suspect it's hidden as a "hold" for GTY upgrades...or something like that. It's a GREAT room...we had it last year on the Wonder.

Maybe one of our "gang" will gobble it up? :thumbsup2

I noticed the large number of open rooms as well. It would be great if a bunch of us got upgraded. I know they are few and far between, but we can always hope for Pixie Dust to hit our thread of cruisers. :)

I think that would be fun. :yay:

I'm also for the idea of giving little gifts throughout the cruise for the fish extenders. Also, I'm looking forward to a DIS meet after we all board.:grouphug:
I'm getting concerned that we will not be arriving to the ship till late. We did the package deal where Disney is making our air travel arrangements. We won't know until sometime next month who we are flying and the times. Does anybody have experience with Disney making their air travel arrangements? This is a new experience for me. :confused3
