Hi, all...15 days and counting now!

A couple of reminder for everyone from my little corner of the world:

1) Excel spreadsheet of DCL activities is available. It includes such items as:
  • Show Schedule
  • Evening Dress
  • Drink of the Day
  • Pirate/Dessert Buffet dates/times
  • Suspected character breakfast dates/times (based off of previous cruises)
  • Daily lunch theme in Topsiders

PM me with your e-mail addy if you want this.

2) DisMeet at 3PM Saturday, Promenade Lounge, Deck 3. ALL are invited to attend.

3) Facebook group is created for anyone who wishes to see some pics of each other prior to boarding. Search Facebook for "The Magic of Tortola" group.

4) For those in the FE exchange, a spreadsheet is available with names, ages, and other pertinent info of all the participants...based off of the wonderful list that Amy (Leia's Mom) organized.

Again, PM me if you are a FE participant, want the list, but haven't received it.

Thanks to all,
Drew :yay:

:thumbsup2

Drew,
could you please email me the FE exchange spreadsheet? Thanks, Sue

Hi all,
We just bought "SAFE SEA" . It repels jellyfish, fire coral and sea lice so they are unable to sting you. It also contains a sunscreen. I read about it in Passporter and ordered it online.

Where did you buy the Safe sea from? Last cruise we took my dd got stung by a jellyfish at Castaway Cay and was scared to go back into the water. I think I'll order some since we have dealt with the jellyfish before.

thanks

I just searched the web for "Safe Sea" and found it. The web address is: www.buysafesea.com It is 12.99 per bottle and shipping is 2.99. I think it is a good precaution! Good luck.

We are also leaving for DW on Tuesday the 16. We get to sleep in an extra hour our flight doesn't leave until 7am. We plan on spending a couple of days at the parks and then going to Port Canaveral on Friday. I was just put on call for the night so if things go well I won't have to go into work at tonight. Being retired and on SS does have its advantages (I no longer have to get that paycheck to make ends meet).

See you in a few days. Magie

So if you wear that Safe Sea stuff and get stung by a Jelly, it won't hurt??

How does Safe Sea® stop the sting?
Too slippery: Safe Sea® has a waterproof, slippery texture that makes it difficult for the stinging tentacles to attach to the skin.
Taking a tip from our friend the Clown Fish: Safe Sea® absorbs secretions from the skin that would otherwise tell the jellyfish that it's in contact with prey or predator.
Disrupt communication: Chemical stoppers in Safe Sea® block the chemical pathways where the stinging process is activated.
Disarm: A stinging cell is a dense "capsule" containing a long folded needle. Pressure builds in this capsule just prior to stinging. As the pressure builds, the capsule is forced open and the needle shoots out like a harpoon, injecting its target with toxin at a force equivalent to a bullet being fired from a gun. This all happens in a fraction of a second; jellyfish stings are among the most rapid mechanical events in all of cellular biology. Safe Sea® reduces the pressure in stinging cells so that they cannot fire - effectively disarming them.

This is from their web site...hope it answers your questions.

FYI, gang...looks like we're the guinea pigs for the new menus. I just saw this post in a different thread from someone who was on the Magic 5/30-6/6:

I was on the same cruise as kcashner and our servers told me that the "full blown" menu change will happen on June 20. He said it will be the same as the one on the Wonder.

12 days to go!

Anybody know what the menu on the Wonder is? Can we look it up somewhere? I hope it is as good as the old menu...that looked great. Maybe it will be even better.

Sue, here is the thread which contains the menus as they were released a few months ago on the Wonder.

I've read quite a lot of "opinions" that the AP menu isn't nearly as good as the old menu. I'm going to try to keep an open mind...after all, I can always make up for the lost calories at the dessert buffet! LOL

:rotfl2:

We leave one week from today! I can't believe it is getting so close. I have looked at the new menus. There are a lot of complaints, but it looks okay to me. There is so much food available everywhere, I am not too concerned! We will see if I still think that after the cruise. :)

I went to the new menu and it does not look quite as good. Unfortunately I know there will be too much for me to eat anyway! I will be hitting the gym and jogging on deck anyway as I know there will be some awfully good food.:thumbsup2

 I'm super excited about this! My fam and I are really easy when it comes to food so I'm totally up for being the guinea pig! ( Pig being the key word ;) )

The Wonder menus don't look great to me; however, I'll happily order from the kids menu. I don't do the meat or the seafood thing, so it is kind of limited. It seems like they are trying to find meat substitutes for the veggie dishes (a mushroom that is the "meat", tofu, etc). Personally, I just don't like meat so I don't want something that is "like" meat.

However, I don't cruise for the food. If I can not gain weight, that would be a positive. Plus, I am happy to just get a cheese plate every night or pizza.

It's all good :-)

Sue, in case I don't get a chance to mention it, I hope you and DD have fantastic birthdays!

My daughter and I don't eat meat or seafood either. Hopefully there will be some pasta or other things. I agree about the fruit and cheese plate..we are pretty happy with simple foods! Besides there's always the ice cream station.:yay:

I am not impressed with AP menu as a big steak lover I hope our Palo Ressie falls on that nights rotation. I was really looking forward to the steak dish that we had last Sept. Seems like there may also be less chocolate than on previous menus. Guess I will have to get a major fix during the dessert buffets. One week till we leave :cool1: I had to take an extra day off work this week just to get somethings done. I have way to many projects going on right now that I am trying to get done before we leave. I just realized this time next week we will be sitting down for dinner at Boma, cant wait to try the zebra domes:woohoo:. Hope everone has a good week and safe trip see ya on the Magicpirate:
