June 18, 2011 - 11 Night Mediterranean Sailing from Barcelona

How exactly is this going to affect our day in Villefranche? Do you think we should plan on skipping Monaco? Does anyone have specifics on what will be closed? I'm curious as to why DCL would cancel the entire excursion and would like to be able to plan ahead!!!

I have looked online at the Palace website and the Monaco visitors websites and nothing is listed as being closed early in the week. I would think that a couple of days before the wedding they will close some street and such but nothing has been posted yet. I am going to push forward with visiting Monaco and keep an eye on other boards like Fodors or Trip advisor to see what others that live in the area post about it. I will also keep checking the Monaco visitor websites later in early June to see if anything has been updated

So I am feeling a bit lost. This is our first cruise and planning the activities for this seems so tiring and expensive :confused3 What gifts do people normally give for FE? Do we exchange gifts everyday or is this a one time thing? I feel like I am running out of time

When we did the FE on the Panama Canal cruise it was just one gift per room, not per person or per day as that would get to be expensive and how would you pack that much. We went to Target and the dollar store and found a lot of "disney" items that we were able to use. For the teen girls we had found some very fashionable note pads that the girls loved. I also ordered book marks with a map of where the ship was visiting. Just some ideas. Someone did small packets of tylenol and chapsticks which came in handy. Food was also a big hit like individual wrapped candies or chocolates as they were consumed and not have to be packed

We are doing the ports on our own to save money. I have been to some of the cities we are visiting but some have never been to.

There is a good thread on the main cruise board called Med ports on your own 2011. Lots of good information over there. What I would suggest is make a list of what you would like to see in each port and then get a map and go. If you have an iphone or droid there are some apps you can download with maps, audio guides, etc that do not need wifi to operate. We have some of those that will come in handy when you want to know what you are looking at without referring to a guide book as you are looking at it. If you take taxis anywhere agree on a price before getting in the taxi.

For anyone waiting for a room assignment start looking, I received mine this morning. I pulled up my reservation and the room number was listed.

Here is our info for the FE- me(Erin), husband (Dane), son (10), daughter (5), son(1). We also have a sitter traveling with us that is 19- I am sure she will enjoy meeting some of the older girls on the cruise to meet up with when we are all in bed exhausted! We have early seating for dinner and our cabin #'s are- 2140,2138- but I will probably just get an FE for one room.

Fish Extender groups. That would allow for us to be able to spend more money on the ones we have and not go crazy running around the ship trying to find staterooms to deliver to. Just a thought.

I'm fine with this idea. Especially since we may have more folks sign up in the next couple of weeks. Anyone else have an opinion?

I'm not really sure what FE groups means. How is this any different than breaking up the group into two? Is it just breaking it up into even more than that?

It was decided at the beginning to keep the groups small 10-12, so I think we will see at the cut off date 22nd May, at the moment we have 17 staterooms

Here is our info: Me (Susan), DH, DD Katie (16). Late seating. We are waiting on the cabin assignment. GTY

Booked a 5C GTY and received a 5C

Congratulations on the upgrade :rotfl2::rotfl2:

We would just break the FE list in half. Each half participating in their own FE exchange. Per Jackie's (jns) post, we can just wait and see how many people we end up with and then decide.

This will be our family's first cruise ever! I (TG) am 47, my wife (WG) is 39, and our two boys are 8 (SF) and 10 (JF). We simply cannot wait to go! I have always wanted to see Europe! pirate:

We are not sure how many Euros to bring with us. We are planning to use our credit card most of the time, but wanted to get some Euros to get ice cream etc. Not sure how much to bring.
We got our flight information from Disney. We are flying on Delta out of Atlanta on the 6pm flight to Barcelona on June 17th. Anyone else on this flight?

Thanks for the info!

What tours are you taking?

or no room. I thought if I did a private tour it would be cheaper with a van and we could go to the places we wanted to go. I think a van for 4 is 300 euro and the van which holds 8 is only 340. Let me know if you are interested

Well.....it's tough to say because only you know your family :confused3. But doing the math, there are 4 of you and say 10 euro/day per person and you're at 440 euro. Of course you won't need it on the three sea days so you can round down if you want to.

If you have an ATM card you can always use it while in port if you want more.

We will be on the same flight! Can hardly wait! I am hoping to avoid jetlag by getting the family up early the week of departure & therefore going to bed earlier. 6 hour time difference from our location to Spain.
maybe we can meet in the terminal while waiting for the flight?
