are sold out. I am looking for a good tour of Rome and Florence. I don't have a lot of time to research. Can u let me in on what you are doing?
We are doing all the ports on our own. We had mysterious Palermo booked but are cancelling.
Malta - we are just getting off the ship and wondering around valetta, stopping wherever something strikes us as interesting
Palermo - doing the catacombs on our own, admission is 3 euros each and anyone age 18 and younger is free. Will look into setting a price with a cab driver before getting in the cab to take us there and then drop us off somewhere in town as we want to go to a couple of the markets. Having lunch somewhere local or enjoying some street food
Rome - taking the train in on our own at 9 euros each
Purchased advance tickets for the Vatican Museums at 15 Euros each adult, 8 euros each child, 4 euros per person service fee - Total 98 euros for four of us (including the train). We are then going to head to the Trevi fountain, kids remember the fountain and the ice cream shop at the corner and want to return there, they were 4 and 6 when we were there last they are now 14 & 16. If we have time we will go inside the Colessum if not take photos outside (we have been inside the Colessum already but the kids were little and don't remember much of it). Depending on how we are doing time wise we will decide on what else to fit in.
If you do plan on going to the Colosseo purchase the tickets at Palatine hill as the lines will be much shorter and then just bypass the line waiting to purchase tickets at the Colosseo and go right in by showing your already purchased tickets
Rome if you decide to go it on your own by train but don't want to figure out how to get around the city once there consider hiring a guide for the day. One place you can start is

Naples - we are going to see a couple of the museums in town, have pizza somewhere in town and then head to Sorrento for a few hours before coming back to the ship. Again all on our own. Sorrento we will probably take the train there and the hydrofoil back. No need to pre-purchase any of the tickets. If we find a driver at the port that will give us a good price to drive us around we may do that instead. Hydrofoil will be about 10 euros each, train ticket will be about 2-3 euros each plus any admission fees to museums which are minimal.
La Spezia - Currently planning on taking the train to Cinque Terre towns and just walk around unless the rest of the family decides they want to go to Pisa instead. I have been to Florence and Pisa so I am leaving it up to them. I am not going to Florence as I don't want to spend 2.5 hours each way on a bus or train
Corsica - walk around the area of the town close to where the ship docks, again if we find a good price on a taxi we may take a ride to a few different places on the island or maybe just do a beach day here
Villefranche - taking the train to Nice for the morning, bus 100 to Monaco and Montecarlo and back to Villefranche to wander the streets there or go to the beach depending on weather
We don't like to have too many things planned unless we have to such as the tickets to the vatican museums to avoid the lines. This is a port intesive cruise and by the fourth port everyone will start getting very tired and want to just plan the day based on how we feel
Another thing that most major cities have are the Hop on Hop off buses. These take you around the major sights and you can get off wherever you want and then get the next bus that comes along to take you to the next stop.
