June 18, 2011 - 11 Night Mediterranean Sailing from Barcelona

We're going to Paris after the cruise too!! Why not?! The first sunday of the month, the Louvre and most museums, actually are free.

Will be on cruise with DS (10) and DD (11)

Best city ever! Okay well, next to Rome, which you are going to also! :goodvibes Enjoy!

Here is a link to some information for 2007 that is on this site. I wouldn't look at prices and such as they probably changed but I thought the maps were good to try and get an idea of the area where the ship will dock. We will get these onboard the ship but it helps with planning

Can't believe we are reaching 90 days

Thanks for posting. Lots of great information. In the departure information it says there is a UPS station inside the terminal to ship items home. I've been thinking of doing this as we're headed to Paris and London and it would be nice to get rid of some things. I hope it's available this year too.

Welcome ch10dad, I'm glad you moved to our sailing. We are really growing as a group.

jns please add ch10dad to the FE Exchange if you haven't already done so.

I can't believe its getting close. Time is really flying, probably because my son will be graduating from high school in less than 11 weeks.

Updated the FE list http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=39740841#post39740841

Just found this forum! We are so excited about this cruise!!
Would consider sharing a private tour with another family, esp Rome and Pompeii. I would love to see Pompeii AND Herculeum.
We are a family of four, coming with a 10 yo son and 11 yo daughter!

Hi Carolina. My wife, 13 yr old daughter and 11 year old son are already going on the Rome and Florence tours with another family. I posted the info a page or so back and they replied today to the Florence trip, www.romeinlimo.com is the company and an 8 person mini-van is $550. They recommend a 100 Euro tour guide at Pompeii.

If you're interested in sharing our Pompeii tour we'd like to hear from you. Rome in Limo has a Pompeii tour that also goes to the Almfi (sp?) coast. I don't know about Herculeum. I have not heard much about it. I understand some parts may be better preserved than Pompeii but we do want to see the Alamfi coast drive too. Their tours show either Pompeii or Herculem not both.

P.S. We're going to Paris for a couple days after the cruise too. Kids want 1 day at Disneyland Paris and we want 3 in Paris.

Want to make sure we're added to the FE exchange,
myself, DW37, DH42, DD12, DD9

Thanks alot

Hi Carolinagirls! We too are heading to Paris (and London) after the cruise! Also, I see you are from Charleston (my DW went to CofC - class of '82).

How are you planning to get to Paris? We are thinking of taking the Elipsos (hotel train) overnight from Barcelona to Paris, or maybe the TGV, depends on pricing, etc. Thanks for the tips on the museums!

Cheers!

Thought I'd jump in as we're going to Paris and London too. The overnight train was very expensive when I priced it. And after my experience on Amtrak with my DD's last summer, I've learned that I don't sleep well on trains.... So we're taking Vueling Airlines. Very low base fare and then they add for bags, seat assignments, etc.

We're taking the Eurostar from Paris to London.

Can anyone confirm for me the dress code in the Med? I have heard capri's were acceptable, then another friend has told me that I should look more dressy to not stand out as a tourist. Recommending a long skirt. Any ideas? Also need insight on how to dress the DD's.

Anyone from FL traveling on this cruise?
Also interested in pen pals for DD 12 and DD9.

Thanks all:confused3

We are flying Air France.
I found these great deals for rates for $5-$35 one way. Made plans around that. Little did I realize that European tax adds about $150 to that:rotfl:

We took TGV from Paris to Marseille in 2002 and it was great.

Can't wait to talk to your wife about C of C.
I am actually from Wilmington and my sister lives in Raleigh. In fact, last two times we were in raleigh (2/10 and Xmas) we got snow so my kids think they'll always see snow there!

I'm familiar with Vueling as I've been researching airfares from Venice to Barcelona... still need to book that leg. As for the train, I'm a train nut so my family is (at the moment) indulging me and my sense of adventure.

Ironically we are also planning to take the Eurostar from Paris to London (have tickets to LES MISÉRABLES) and then we're flying home from LHR.

Yes, we've had way too much snow since moving to Raleigh in 2006. We'll look forward to connecting with you.

Cheers!

There were a decent number of people dressed for pirate night last year. You could go either way and still fit in. :)
