June 18, 2011 - 11 Night Mediterranean Sailing from Barcelona

We are flying from Cleveland. So... we have to connect somewhere along the line. Philadelphia keeps coming up. We are flexible on dates since I am a teacher and my parents are retired. Only taking 1 DS on this cruise.

Has anyone booked the ABD add-on?

I just booked it this morning as they sold out very fast last year. However I am not sure if we will keep it as the cost is very high ($7,827.00 for the 3 of us). I am pretty sure I can book our own excursions for much less. Just trying to decide if it is worth travelling with the same group of 40 to keep my almost 20 year old ds engaged on the tours (he tires of me very easily:confused3)1

I would like to wish you all a very

Merry Christmas

Have a great day everyone

It is hard to believe in a little over 6 months we all will be cruising. I really haven't done anything else to get ready for the cruise except purchase a couple mother lode bags from ebags, along with travel cubes. Everything has already been booked except the excursions. Not really sure when we can set those up as we will be doing only Disney excursions. Airfare thru Delta, leaving on the 15th, staying at the Marriott next to the airport the night before the cruise and the night after. We will leave from Atlanta with a layover in Amsterdam, then on to Barcelona.

To JulieWent: We are going out to Arizona for the game. DH is beyond excited. And yes, hopefully my DS can meet up with your DH. DS was accepted into Mechanical Engineering, but has been an aide this year to the head of IS at his school and wishes to change to either Computer Engineering or Wireless Engineering. Don't know how easy that is the change though. War Eagle!!

Ok need to get a hotel and flights booked for barcelona
wheres everyone staying ? and whats your plans for this?
We are hoping to spend a few days here not sure yet if it will before or after the cruise all depends on the flights

Are we doing a fish Extender exchange on this cruise ? or having a Dis meet ?

We've booked two rooms at the Marriott near the airport. There are four of us, DH(50), me(40), DS(19), and DD(21). Rooms are not as roomy in Europe and most only allow 3 to a room. We will arrive the day before we are to depart, hoping to avoid lost luggage and jetlag.

Just a quick note to wish everyone a Happy New Year :cheer2::cheer2:

Hopefully by mid January I'll have more time to focus on cruise planning!

Aloha,
Jen

Happy New Year, everyone! In a few hours, it will officially be 2011, and we'll be six months from sailing.

We're in WDW now, getting ready to go to Epcot for NYE celebrations. Wish us luck.

Confidential to Hygienist 999: We're jealous! Yell loudly for us, and we'll be yelling loudly back in Auburn. War Eagle.

Happy New Year, everyone!

Wow Julie, I love WDW at Christmastime. We spent New Years there in 2006 and loved it. The artificial snow falling in 60 degree weather was awesome.

One thing I'm reading all over the boards is about the service on the Magic and Wonder. Disney is taking trained CM's and moving them to the Dream for training and also bringing new CM's to the Magic and Wonder for training as well. The comments I'm reading suggests this will go on thru out 2011. I just hope they have this worked out by the time we sail in June.

Also, after reading multiple trip reports, I'm going to trim back our excursions. I don't want to be to tired to enjoy the ship.

It's been a while since I've had time to think about the cruise, but now that we've survived christmas & new year (& all the extended family that come with it ), we can get back on track!

Have booked Casp 74 apartments for before & after the cruise, I think a few others on the disboard are booked in there too? Maybe we can arrange a group transport to the ship on sailing day?

Hope everyone enjoyed the holidays,
Rach

It was a wonderful 5 night New Years cruise. :cloud9: My kids had the time of their lives. My DD (4) didn't want to leave the clubs and even asked to leave the beach at CC so that she could get to the club!

I'm so glad that we did the cruise before this Med cruise in June. Now that we know the ship and the drill.... we're even more excited to be on board for 11 nights!

Happy New Year! :wizard:

We just booked airfare and a hotel in Barcelona so it's time to get my act together . I'm new to this board It looks like a great way to meet and learn about this cruise. We also signed up for the ABD. Am traveling with my DH who we'll be celebrating a 50th Birthday! Also bringing the DD age 10 and DS age 8.

That is great! We are also doing the ABD (cruise only)! Dd will be 9 on the cruise. I'm sure she will get along great with your 10 year old!

Welcome! It is a great way to learn a lot ahead of time. I have a DD who will be one month shy of 10 when we cruise. Your kids will love it (and you will too!). :cool1:

Welcome! My kiddo is older -- 15, but wanted to say I'll be turning 50 onboard too! What a great way to celebrate!

Looking forward to meeting all of you !
WDW Groupie - glad to see another young one on the ABD. We've never cruised or done an ABD so are very excited.

From this forum it looks as if all of you are quite savvy - next time I'll know to look up this board sooner!

Is it worth it to look at cruise critic as well? We started reading their reviews last year and
did not get as much useful info as this site.

I use Cruise Critic for port information. The DIS boards are somewhat light on that info or you have to go through an entire trip report (which can take a long time) to get the information. But if you're doing ABD you will have all of your ports planned for you.....
