Yikes, $500 for a prom dress is a bit pricey...I wouldn't want to buy her wedding dress!! I only have boys and I was a bit surprised how much it cost to rent a tux, almost as much as a decent dress and you have to give it back!

Silver7, I'm bringing 2 ATM cards, 2 credit cards and 200 euros which I exchanged for at the airport on my last trip. I wish I had more euros but most likely it will be fine. I'm sure most places accept credit cards.

My crab cakes look fantastic! New recipe, I hope they taste as good as they look.

Hi all. My 9 year old ran his first triathlon this morning and LOVED it. We were all out in this great weather enjoying ourselves.

Silver7, I've decided not to get Euros beforehand. I'm just gonna go to the ATM when we get there - will probably take out as much as I can - $300 or so. We'll have 2 ATM cards and 2 credit cards. Hope that works.

Is it true that Capital One doesn't add a surcharge when converting from Euros? My husband works there - guess I should check it out. I thought I was getting a good deal from my credit union at 1%.

I just thought about this: We were both on the DD May cruise last year!! I don't recall if we meet you or not? I recall Mary and a few others and recall your name and everyone was so nice that we were able to meet!!!
We are still hoping to go on this one but we will see for sure!! Soon I hope!!
Is there anyone else going on the med from last years DD may cruise group! I Still have our pins Mary made for us and everyone else!!

Add in the limo, dinner, and if he had a date, flowers. (they are going as a group) . . . YIKERS

Most kids down here rent a beach house for the after prom, but this group did not.

Ok I will take two credit cards and two atm cards and just get the euros in Europe

Yes, london after for a quick overnight stop. I don't know where my hotel is as there are 2 hotels with the same name in london. I left a message for the TA to let me know which one. Anything you see thats a must. I have a very good friend who is english and has bombarded me with things to do. I keep reminding her that we have limited time. She keeps reprioritizing things. It's very funny.

I went to amx today. There is a currency shop at our local amx travel agency. They do charge $5.00 if you are a cardmember. The rate was high...1.46 for a euro and 2.12 for the gbp. I asked the man why and he said the rate they show is for money traded in the millions and since we need such a small amount it's a higher rate. Does that sound right?

So I am still confused on the currency. I will most likely get some before we go and then have my ATM and 2 credit cards. One I plan to use and 1 to use only if the first one gets stolen!

hope you all had a cool day...it's hot in calif. today! 93 ugh..can't stand going from 50 - 93 in a week.

Carol - I got our tickets for Mary Poppins. We are in Stalls J26-J30. We should try to meet up sometime that evening. I am still not sure what we are doing for dinner, but maybe we can meet up at the theater sometime. It sounds like it's a pretty long show. It runs from 7:30pm to 10:20 pm with a twenty minute intermission at 9pm. Let me know and maybe we can set something up before hand. I don't know if you will have a cell phone, but we will have ours and it does work in the UK.

Hi LeiLani - Our seats for Mary Poppins are Stalls G17-G20. I guess you are 3 rows behind us. That would be great to meet sometime that evening, maybe before the show or during intermission. We will have a cell phone. I bought one of the Mobal phones for $49.00. Now I need to figure out how to put the SIM card in. I think we may eat at Kettners for dinner. That will be a late night for us and we have to get up early the next day to catch the train to Paris.

Hay Steph,

Are you going to London after the Cruise or before?

We are going after & staying overnight. We plan on doing a day of sightseeing, & then head to the airport at 6pm since our flight is at 8pm at Heathrow.

I am very excited about our London stay, even if it is just one night. My DH & I had plans to go to London, 9/11/01 weekend. We had to cancel. After 9/11 DH won't fly.

I bought a "huge" suitcase, today. Now I can start packing. LOL my husband thinks I am out of my mind. I am with excitment.

Big day tomorrow. Time for bed.

We are going after..paris first then london for a day. Quick stop. We arrive at noon and leave the next morning at 7am ugh! (well thats the time we have to leave for the airport). I got a bunch more research done tonight and found out that my english friends (as I call her) auntie is coming to visit when her daughter graduates 8th grade. She is going to bring me some pounds...avoid the exchange fee. Now..if I can only get her to bring me some euro...hmmm....

I read on the transatlantic thread that Joey Fatone and boys2men are going to be on their cruise--it is CONFIRMED per DCL--so I asked about our cruise (ok I whined a little LOL!) and it was neither confirmed nor denied that a celebrity would be on our cruise

So in other words, we don't know but wouldn't it be cool?

Lisa & John - thanks so much for offering to bring me info on DLP & Paris. I really appreciate it.

Carol - it sounds like we will be close to each other. We have canapes and champagne at the theatre which means we have to be there by 6:45pm so we might do a big lunch and then something light for dinner. I learned in New York that if I eat a big dinner(plus wine) before the show, all I want to do is sleep.


Virgil - you sound just like DH. I have to take him out of town just to get him away from work. I still can't get him totally away though. His cell phone works in Europe so he will call just about everyday to see if there are any issues.

Theresa - just be glad you don't have a daughter that dates a boy in another state and goes to 2 proms and cannot possibility wear the same dress twice!

Me, I'm like why not, only David will see it twice. But she is one of Daddy's little princesses so he says go ahead and buy 2 dresses.

At least she gets to use them on the cruise. I think we need to plan more cruises!

Just wondering if someone could explain the secret Palo Room for me.

We really wanted to do Palo brunch this time - not bothered about dinner, but have not been able to book at all even on the 90 day 8.a.m. her in England slot.

Quite agree with about falling asleep at shows I am terrible for that. Only one that kept me wide awake was "We will Rock you"and also "dancing on ice" at Wembley. Seem to be able to manage that at the shows on board also, how bad is that.
