June 15, 2012 - 2 Night Getaway on the Disney Magic from NYC!

Good morning folks - I hope that everyone has a safe holiday weekend, please be careful - way too many folks indulge in adult beverages then think they can drive....I wouldn't want to loose any new friends before we actually get to meet!!!

On a happier note...here is this weeks updated FE list link:
https://spreadsheets.google.com/spr...x5a0lCb3doeHc&authkey=CL_tgpkM&hl=en_US#gid=0

There have not been any changes for those folks who are downloading it regularly.

If you wish to join the FE exchange please PM me with the following information:

your Dis name
your real world name
your cabin number
anyone who is traveling with you
ages of any children
any special needs or information (such as allergies or gift restrictions)

In the subject line of the PM please cut and paste this:
FE list addition: NY 2 day cruise to nowhere

at one point I was collecting email addresses, but the online version of the document seems to be working very well. If you would like me to email it to you please include your email address. I will NOT post or share it, I keep an offline version of the document and will not put email addresses on the Google Doc version.

I have received these votes for the cutoff date for the list:
60 days: 2 votes

group size (if applicable):
small is the request - no specific number: 2 votes

Feel free to weigh in on either issue!

Total number of cabins to date: 3

I plan on updating the list on August 1st...As we get closer I am sure more folks will join the FE exchange...then I will post more often.

I convinced my hubby that he should book this cruise for us and he did. It will be a late 15th anniversary celebrate and my 40th Birthday. No Kids WOOOHOO!

Welcome to our little home here on the DIS! :goodvibes

340 days til we set sail!

Hi,
I'm thinking about doing this cruise as a surprise to my husband who has never cruised. I want to see how he likes it before I pressure him into a longer cruise. I've been on the DCL Eastern and Western Magic with my kids. I live in NYC so this is a no-brainer for me.

One question, though. Where does the ship actually go? I mean, will we go far enough out to sea to feel like we're on a "real" cruise and not on the Circle Line sightseeing boat?? That's going to be a make it or break it for me.

Any info to share, please?

Yes, the ship goes out to sea. See this link:

Wow, thanks! I just booked. :thumbsup2

:woohoo:

I've been on NCL's version of a cruise to nowhere and they take a giant loop in the water. You can't even see NYC after a couple of hours so yes, it does feel like you're on a real cruise and not just a tourist type of cruise.

338 days to go!

Did you have fun on the NCL cruise? What activities did they offer?

Good food?

It's been awhile. The last time I sailed on NCL was in 2007 but I have sailed with them 3 times. I like that dinner isn't scheduled, you can go whenever you want and sit with whoever you want. Depending on the ship, they have the usual activities: art auctions, bingo, a casino, pool contests, comedy shows, sports deck, variety shows, themed parties, etc. I think on some ships they even have bowling allies now!

The food isn't bad at all! They have a captain's gala dinner that I remember being great and if you're on a five or seven night cruise, they have this upscale buffet with ice sculptures and gourmet desserts. Yum!

Hi...

Does anyone know if there will be fireworks on this cruise?

Hi...

Does anyone know if there will be fireworks on this cruise?

Also, how will the dinner rotation be handled?

Hi Dsny,

The only frame of reference we currently have is the January 2011 LA 2 night cruise on the Wonder. On that cruise they didn't have fireworks. They were assigned the same restaurant both nights. Also, Animator's Palate did not have its show on either night. If the same holds true for our cruise I plan to request Lumiere for our dining rotaton.

Here are six links providing info about the January 2011 2 night cruise:

Not sure, on the three day cruises they make one full rotation. I am sure there is info somewhere from the West caost 2 day cruise somewhere on the Dis...post it if you find it!

Hi...

Does anyone know if there will be fireworks on this cruise?
Not sure, on the last 4 day cruise I went on they had Pirate night on the same night as a formal type thing...was a little bizarre! But they did have fireworks. Not sure about this one.

Wow, thanks! I just booked. :thumbsup2

Welcome!

Thanks for the links Ellen! Was that the first time Disney tried a 2 night cruise? I'm hoping they got some feedback for it and make changes accordingly, mostly adding the AP show and I wouldn't mind some fireworks. ;)
