June 15 '08 Mexican Riv. Cruise

Now that way we are only a few miles from the port, Brooklyn & Sorcerer Mom, the race is really on!!!!

OH NO!!!! More competition! And to think, we are going to the SD Fair on Sat....my girls are going to be toast on Sunday!!!

We are planning on doing a European Cruise in 2010 for DH's 40th birthday...I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed Disney will be sailing there too.

Oh fun! We want to do the Trans-Atlantic coming home this time. We did it the other way last time. It was incredible but we lost 6 hours on the way, I want to gain those 6 hours back coming the other way! I also want to do all the stops at the beginning and then have a nice relaxing 6 days at sea and end at Castaway Cay.

Once they know where they are going the pixie dust will chase the tiredness away. Now by 8:30 dinner you all may be asleep in your appetizers! I'm just glad the first full day is a sea day. We can all catch our breath from that race to the port :rotfl: !

My first post was so boring!!! I need to learn all the cute tricks here!

My DH & I honeymooned on the Big Red Boat, also -- in December, 1987 -- after our wedding at the Disneyland Hotel.

This is our first "official" cruise. We are Disneyland Annual Passholders, and have a 14-year-old son. We are VERY EXCITED to be on this cruise!

Oh yeah -- GO DODGERS!!!

Thanks for the welcome, and I look forward to chatting!

:welcome: Happy to have you join us! We have a great group here and there's always room for more! Very cool your DH was an Imagineer...would love to hear about his experiences planning DCA. For us, it'll be me, DH, DD17 and DS12.

Our family loves DL and love screamin but only as from the outside lookin in...despite my best efforts it makes me pretty green  It's sooo pretty at night tho and my kids love it. It all works out, they go on screamin and I hold the bags...it's fun to see them getting ready to launch!

You're so luck to be able to welcome the Magic to LA! Post pics if you can and give us the scoop on all the festivities.

So my husband and I planned to go for a 3 mile bike ride to get ice cream and then back. But it was such a nice day (finally over 60!! ) that we decided to keep going and we went 15 miles!! I must say that was only my 2nd ride in 10 or 15 years so I'm goingto pay for it tomorrow!! Anways, as we rode by and sat at the river I honestly felt like I could have been on the cruise! I asked my DH if he could imagine himself with ice cream in hand, sitting by the pool with the wind blowing and the sound of the water in the background. Basically it was awesome and it really got me even more pumped for the cruise!! I hope you're all having nice weather and finding little things in your day to get you excited for the cruise. 3 weeks and 2 days!! :cloud9: Happy Memorial Day weekend!!!

I need to get out there training! DH and I are running the DL half marathon in Aug. I wish I had your motivation...well my excuse could be that the weather has been TERRIBLE here in SoCal!

Okay, gals, I'm tired just reading this....I guess you've guilted me into dragging my a** to the gym sometime this weekend :rotfl:

Welcome OurMsBrooks & LuvinAllDisney!!!

It had poured rain all day. It is our 21st anniversary today     We were going to go out tonight but it was too icky. I had a monthly med treatment yesterday that always wipes me out for a few days. With the rain, working and not being at 100% I came home and promptly fell asleep! DH is always so understanding. He assumed I would be out for the count, called the restaurant and gave DD 17 the night off. Boy was he surprised when I woke up as soon as DD left the house and said let's go! :rotfl: I guess we will be doing that another night:laughing:

Happy Memorial Day, especially for all who served and continued to do so every day to keep us safe. I just finished helping DS iron his dress whites. His Sea Cadet unit will be at Fort Rosecranse tomorrow from 7:00 am to 11:00 am placing flags on the graves of our fallen heros. He told me yesterday he is so honored to do this and it is one of the most special days of the year for him. He gets to see his Great Uncle next week for the first time in 12 years. He was a decorated soldier in W.W. II and DS's personal hero. He can hardly wait to sit face to face with him and tell him how proud he is to have him for and uncle  I have a very special young man!

Have a great night everyone. TTYL.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! :flower3: DH should never underestimate the power of a women when she gets the opportunity to go out to dinner! :goodvibes Glad you were feeling so good after your treatment :goodvibes Better to wait till it's nicer weather...it rained here in Vegas too last night and today and was pretty chilly for the end of May .. crrraaaazzzyyy weather

You have a very special DS there. Got teary eyed reading about how much he's looking forward to meeting his great uncle. I think it's wonderful that he admires him so much and I'm sure it warms his great uncle's heart to know that he wants to spend time with him. My DDad was in WWII also. There are not many left :guilty: I'm sure he'll have a very memorable visit with him.

That was awesome of your son to do. My husbands 2 best friends are buried there. They were both killed in Iraq on 2 different occasions. The funerals up there were so hard. It is such a beautiful spot...a great final resting place.

A big THANK YOU you to everyone who serves, and their families, on this Memorial Day...they give up so much to keep us safe :grouphug:

Hello All...Newbie here getting ready for our first Disney Cruise. Long time DL fans with AP's for years now. We cant wait for the 15th!

Any tips for a first time DCL cruiser with a 2 year old?

:welcome: great to have you aboard! This will be our first DC as well. We love DL..used to have APs, but it got to be just to expensive...maybe we'll just have to move to CA to get the discount

Welcome!!!! Yeah! More people!!!!

We will help catch you up...

I will be the first one at the port on the 15th....followed by Sorcerer Mom

We are hoping to meet up in the parking lot and then trying to all eat lunch together on the ship the first day.

This is our 2nd Disney Cruise. We can't wait!!!! We are surprises our daughters for their birthday!

I will post more later...I have to go hang wallpaper, what fun!

Brooklyn almost has it right...we'll be happy to catch you up on our thread ;)
but I'LL be the first one at Port :rotfl2: As you can tell, we have a healthy little competition going on here...too fun! What's most important, of course, is that we all get on the ship eventually...
:goodvibes

Our suitcases are out and started to pack  My DM gets here in a little over 2 weeks for DD's graduation so I want to be 90% packed before she gets here...wish me luck!

I hope I haven't missed welcoming anyone...I just love that our thread is jumping! :jumping1:

Night all!

  Cruise Docs came in the mail from my TA!  Now I feel better :cloud9:

:surfweb: Morning everyone! Folks on the Magic woke up in LA today :goodvibes I'm already dreading having to leave her after 7 days, I can't imagine how it is after being on for two weeks! Brooklyn - were you guys ready to get off at the end or could you have turned around and done another 2 weeks? I wonder if it will make the local news there?

NO WAY! I cried and did not want to leave. I was SOOOOOOO sad. I could have easily stayed on another 2 weeks! It was the BEST family vacation we have taken. Followed by our close 2nd, Bali, Indonesia which we also love!

Good Morning early bird!

That's what I thought you'd say :rotfl: I'm already excited to see where they will go in 2010. I don't know if a 2 week would be possible 'cause of school schedules so we may have to "settle" for another 7-day but it sure would be nice to see Europe with the Mouse! How's DD3's ear...she feeling better I hope?

Ear is still draining a lot. I am not really too worried about her hearing. This has happened before but this is the largest hole created in her eardrum to this point, hence all of the draining. She is so good about taking her medicine so that is nice and it helps her to feel better. I am just thankful it happened now and not on the cruise! Thanks for asking. :thumbsup2

Okay, so I'm looking at 3 large suitcases (not enormous mind you, but large) and two small carry-ons that will fit inside the larger ones once emptied. Do you think I'll be able to fit the larger ones under the bed? Posts I've read said to just lift the bed up and they will fit underneath. I hope so....when we travel I like to get unpacked and have everything neat and organized, especially when it's such a small space. Christine said the closet will easily fit a large suitcase but since there's four of us that will have to hang stuff up, I would love to get them out of the way under the bed.

She's a trooper :) Can't wait to meet them (& you guys of course) :goodvibes

Well for our 2 weeks we had 14 Suitecases :scared1:

Of course we were able to divide them into 2 rooms but we fit them all no problem. We had 5 or 6 of the really big ones, the ones airlines wont touch. They fit fine under the bed. We used those to store our life jackets...good thing we never needed them...:rotfl: Under the bed really does have enough space to store them all. Sometimes if you are lucky I guess your room steward can find a place to store them for you. We didn't ask but I heard of others asking.

Oh my! Yeah, I can't imagine having to pack for 2 weeks and with little ones! (flashback to what the back of our car looked like when our kids were little and going away just for the weekend  ) Great idea about storing the lifejackets. Christine was also saying she may ask her steward about not putting the bedspread on during the cruise and that would free up space in the cabinet above the TV which was a great idea too. So happy to hear they'll fit under the bed :woohoo:

And in all that the only thing I forgot was swim diapers!!! :rotfl:

WOW! 14, I thought I packed a lot.

I am waiting for the family to wake up so we can see the Magic come into port. Hopefully we wont miss that. Then since we are there, hit the aquarium.

I will post what ever pics I get here.
