June 12, 2004

Lorie,

No, this is our first Disney cruise! We've been to WDW once in 2001 for a 12 day trip. We're in Calif. with APs to DL/DCA so we get our Disney fix often. In fact, we are taking our children with friends on Friday afternoon/evening to DCA, then have AP tickets to the new ToT ride at DCA on Monday afternoon after work/school! Can't wait!

Sounds like you've been on two other cruises?! Magic for both, or Wonder too?

Lucky you and your family!

Barbara

We did the Wonder twice. The first time was with the land/sea package. I get motion sickness and we wanted to see how I handled it. Unfortunately, the first night was terrible because of a storm. But everything was so great, I knew we'd go again. Even my dh who was very skeptical, loved it.

The second trip was with my sister and her family. Of course, I didn't get enough of the cruise the first time and had to go again.!! Twist my arm!

Once we got home, I lurked around the boards answering questions. Well, I couldn't stand it and we decided to go for the 7 night. With ds being 13, we decided we better do it while we still could.

It is a huge expense, but I know it will be worth it. But I think I'll have to stay away from the boards!!

Maybe you'll get your chance if the Magic really visits CA. We went to DL when I was in first grade. I don't remember much except It's A Small World. We weren't planning on going to DL at all, but visiting plans with some relatives fell through. We just happened to pass by, and our parents decided to go.

Well, maybe when I win the lottery!!!

Wow, this will be your third Disney cruise! That is something! We could not pass it up if the Magic comes to Calif., but it is pricey. Guess that's why we work, we'll just have to budget.

How'd you do with seasickness? Do you take a Bonine the night prior to embarkation and then each night thereafter? I'm particularly worried about my ds, he's very prone to motion sickness, etc. May even take him to the Dr. prior to see what will work best for him.

Well, I know what you mean about this board! I'm addicted now that I can see the posts quickly. I love having DSL, our old line was way too slow and I gave up. Now, I need to stop coming here soo much...I need my fix, LOL!

OK, best that I go spend some time with my family!

Take care!

PS When you win the lottery, come to Calif., enjoy the beach here, take the Disney Calif. Magic cruise, see DL/DCA (not as large as WDW, but charming and delightful all the same), and enjoy! ;)

no- first cruise.

we're staying at the Radishon also before. also, after (NASA) .

Motion sickness, I got so bad at one point, that I got sick even when I drove!!!

As for the cruise, other than the night it stormed, I did ok. When you are on the Wonder, there isn't alot of time which you are moving. The ship is docked in Nassau until around 10 on day 2 and then at CC until 4:30 so it's hard to tell.

I will be taking dramamine (less drowsy) before we leave for the airport and not stopping until I am home again! I also have a battery operated wrist band that sends pulses through your hand. I'm not sure how well it will work. I've tried it in the car and it never seems to be in working mode when I do. It is very tempermental.

For your ds, whatever they recommend try it before you leave to see how he reacts. Sometimes, regular doses put people out!

Well, if I win the lottery, I promised to take my sister to Hawaii. It's a deal we have. I'm sure we'll have to stop over in CA, so we can go to DL too!

You are all going to love this cruise!!! I haven't been on any other lines to compare it with, but I think it's worth the money.

Ta ta for now

Thanks for the motion sickness tips, Lorie! I hope you do well on this cruise, I'm sure you will!

Hey, we decided to do the Palo Brunch on June 14th instead of the tea. It's my bday that day! (and, no, I will NOT tell my age, LOL! - not any milestone, just getting older.;) ) Anyway, saw Barb's photos and decided the brunch looked waaayyy better than high tea. We'll put in our request with our REAS. Dh has a call in to Debbie.

Very nice you'd take your sister to Hawaii and DL! What a good sister you are!

Happy planning everyone! I've got a whopper of an assessment report to write now and tonight, so it was nice to get my Disney fix, LOL! Then, I have a high profile fair hearing IEP to prepare for with our district for Monday. Good thing we're going to DCA tomorrow. or I'd really be crabby now...bah humbug, heh?

Take care!

hometech99, we did Kennedy Space Center in 2001 and it was outstanding!!! Our kids then age 6 and 9 enjoyed it too. We obtained the deluxe tickets and were very glad we did. It was worth the $. Dh is an engineer at a local aerospace, so he really loved it.

Hi everyone,

We're staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge for 3 days before the trip. We've been to WDW a bunch of times, but this will be our first time staying at AKL. It's beautiful, and we have a safari view room. And Boma is our favorite restaurant! Lots of good meat for FI, and veggie stuff for me.

We too are doing REAS (shh, surprise for FI) and plan to add on brunch at Palo. It sounds soooo yummy! I don't know what day to shoot for. I guess I'll have to have some options in mind before calling Debbie! Let me know once any of you all hear back from her.

Fi and I plan to head out to the west coast next year to DL/DCA for the anniversary. It will be our first trip. You experts will have to give us advice!

I can't wait to get the docs! I spent some time today ordering items online for the cruise. I had free shipping at drugstore.com so I ordered sunblock, Safe Sea, travel wristbands, ect. I also ordered a soft sided cooler from LL Bean so that we can order room service and take food out to the islands. Another great tip from Disboards!

We obtained the deluxe tickets and were very glad we did.

MTB,

where and how?

thanks

Boma is our favorite restaurant!

i thoroughly enjoyed it! DW was sick that nite and couldnt eat much (and it was our second HM:( )

Hi Nala! Congrats on your upcoming wedding/marriage!!! And, what a wonderful honeymoon you will have! Nice surprise for your FI for REAS! Be happy to share west coast tips with you. Happy planning, glad you are getting the packing list items together.

Hometech99 - here is what I posted on one thread. Then, check out:

Also, someone posted that you can purchase tickets for "lunch with an astronaut with the deluxe tickets too.

Hello! We took our family to the Kennedy Space Center in March of 2001. We did not buy tickets in advance, and the lines were very, very long (a Friday). One reason was that their computer was down and they were hand-writing credit card receipts. Luckily, we bypassed it when a traveler's check line opened. We almost missed the tour we wanted.

We did the deluxe tour, and were very glad we did! All the extras were well worth it. If you, however, want more time at exhibits rather than seeing facilities, the standard would be AOK.

Dh is a Boeing engineer, so this was a must see for him. I, a girlie-girl, was enthralled by this tour, it was one of my best memories of our first trip to Orlando. Ds then age 10 and dd age 6 loved it equally as well. They brought back gifts to their classrooms, and this was a hit.

Hey Lorie, aren't you glad it's Friday?!!! Have fun with DCL planning this weekend!

Nala, the AKL sounds great!! I think on our next journey to WDW (not sure when) I would like to stay there. We all just love the animals!

We're Next!!!!!:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Lorie

Yeah!!! I can't wait! We finally got our excersion info a few weeks ago, and I can't wait to get the docs!!!!! :Pinkbounc

We too are doing a Disney trip before the cruise. We are staying for 3 days at SSR and can't wait for our first trip "home"!

Has anyone done the Suriel bath? DH and I are going to do it and I just wanted some more info, other than what I've read in trip reports/Barb's site. It will be here before we all know it!!

Anyone getting the new Passporter? I think I'm going to try to snatch it up sometime next week. I'm hoping it will help the time go faster! :)

Hi Mark & Tam,

Welcome to the June 12th DCL thread!

About excursions, you can begin booking them 60 days prior to your cruise and that was on April 13th. There is a limit, and some go quickly. We booked through Costco and received our excursion booklet after April 13th.:( We knew more about it due to this board.

Two things as a suggestion. Go to the DCL website and checkout their descriptions of the excursions. Then, you can see excursion #'s and forms at Dave's site at:

http://www.dcltribute.com/excursions/

Here is the Disney phone # for bookings:

I-877-566-0968

Make sure to get a Faxed receipt right after your phone call to have a written receipt. Others have not done this and did not get their excursions when on the ship. We received a fax and snail mail receipt.

You may book while on board too, but if you really want to go on something, do it in advance. You can always cancel I believe 2 days prior to the cruise. Check on this though as I am not certain.

Again, welcome!

Barbara & Family

Hi Belle! Dh and I are going to do the couples massage, do not know about the surial. Have fun getting the passporter! I have the one before, don't know yet if I'll invest in the new one. I might never get things done around here if I do, LOL!

Happy planning to all!!!
