Just wondering if June is to hot to really enjoy the theme parks?
Is this a good time for less crowds?
Or is it crowded!
Thanks for any help

Hi,

It depends on your tolerance for heat. It will be HOT. Not as relentlessly hot and humid as August, but pretty toasty.

The first week of June begins the summer season at WDW. June gets more crowded as each day goes on, building to a peak on July 4 weekend. Many schools are out for the summer and any time that schools are out WDW will be more crowded than when they are not out.

There will be a Star Wars Weekend on June 3-4 which will make the Studios a little more crowded than normal, and Gay Days are that weekend also, which will see increased crowds at the MK.

We were there the same dates in 2004. Crowds were manageable with a plan. We had had a really cool spring that year so we weren't used to the heat. (went from 70 degres to 95 in three hours.) That made it a little rough. So I'd say it depends on where you're coming from. If we go again in summer, we'll shoot for August. It will be hot but at least we'll be more used to it by then.

If you plan and get to all the parks before opening you will be fine. As the month goes on the crowds get bigger. We have been to WDW four times in June and have always had a great time. Yes, it will be hot, but not horribly so. Make sure everyone drinks a lot of water....it is easy to get dehydrated in the Florida sun without realizing it. All the parks first thing in the morning are great (EMH or regular). We always get a lot done in the first few hours before the really big crowds show up later in the morning. We then head out by noon for a break and then go to another park later.
Just don't be surprised by the pop up thunderstorms that hit just about every afternoon. They ususally don't last long but be prepared.

At WDW last year about the same time and it rained a good bit. We had a couple of days that it rained all day, not just afternoon thunderstorms. The good thing is it keeps the heat down and the crowds down at the parks. The bad thing is that it can be miserable being out in the rain all day. We have been other years at that time and it was 95 and sunny everyday of the trip. Just prepare for the heat and humidity.

We have gone to WDW 7 times in early June. And yes it is hot and humid but it isn't untolerable.

If you play it smart and stay hydrated.. mix some nice air conditioned shows inbetween waits in line.. take advantage of fast pass and take an afternoon break you will be fine.

The crowds are very managable. They will get worse as the week goes on. We have had as long as a half hour wait and as good as walking right on.

Pick up a fast pass as soon as you get to the park for the more popular rides and you should be fine.

It's already too hot in May! Factor in the humidity and it's really miserable. Add to that most schools in the southeast get out toward the end of May, and early June will be more crowded than you expect.

Sometimes it's even TOO hot to go in april!

Of course, we manage and it's still a blast.

But yes, it may likely be TOO hot to go in June, also.

Any other time you can go to avoid the heat?

2 Years ago we went at the end of May. I remember about passing out in line for the FTLK at Animal Kingdom.

I also thought I had forgotten my sunglasses. I touched my face and realized I had them on! The sun is very strong.

It also depends whether or not you do what all the guidebooks say-arrive early! Boy, what a difference that makes! When DH and I go, we're always up and first ones to the park (practically). Afternoon, we come back to the resort, then go back to the parks in the evening. Well, last year, I took my mother, who has entirely different sleep patterns. By the time she got up and out, we were entering the park of the day around noon. All afternoon we'd try to go on rides in the scorching May heat (whoever said it's hot in May-that's so true!). About 5:00, she'd be ready to go back and rest. Then she'd want to know at 9:00 pm where we could go until after midnite when her sleep would begin. I came home sure that May 2005 was at least 20 degrees hotter than any previous May I'd been to WDW. So it makes such a difference what your "schedule" is like.

June isn't THAT bad.. but I'm a Florida boy.. Me & my friends, however, did almost pass out at the entrance of Animal Kingdom around Noon on August 12th.

That is just NOT the place you want to be at Noon on an August day.
