Who else????

Has anyone decided on excursions?

Jennifer

By the way, we just downgraded to a Cat. 10 from a Cat. 9. We figure we can save almost $2,000 (we have 2 rooms) and use that $2,000 towards shore excursions. I will miss the window, but really, with a cruise this port intensive; how often will we be in our room???

So as of now, we are Cat. 10 guarenteed... though my TA told me by the cut off date of 90 days, plenty of rooms will come available...

Am I the only one that is worried this cruise will be a ghost ship?

The good news, we were just informed we were ungraded from our Cat 11 inside, to the .... Roy Suite.

I guess I can start by introducing my group.

Myself .. Richard early 50's
Wife .. Heloisa early 40's
Daughter .. Hannah age 11
Son .. Kevin age 10
Daughter .. Aliisa (grown up)
Grandma .. (also grown up)

Veterans of one 7 day eastern cruise

We live in Kissimmee Florida and the kids go to school literally across the street from the main entrance to WDW. ("awww mom! Do we have to go to the Magic Kingdom agaaaaain???")

Both Hannah and Kevin would like to meet some friends online that are going on this cruise.

misseulalie, looks like you re-changed your mind.

I'm still up for a pre cruise WDW get together if we can get this thread working and find a few cruisers that would like to do that. Maybe in April?

Wow you have a large group going. It is just me and my husband (mid twenties) and it will be our first cruise and our first trip to any of the places we are going.

We have a 12 gty so it is ok with me if the ship is a little less crowded because then i might get the cat 11 or better :thumbsup2

We live up near chicago, and while i would love to get to disney before the trip... we have some family and friends we have to visit before the mouse again.;)

sorry we can be more help with the friends to the kids part... but i think we would love to get together we some people on the ship. also if anyone is thinking of not doing a disney tour and wants to share the expense of a guide we might be interested at a few of the ports.

Hi Guys,

I hate to say this but my whole family is considering canceling. After booking a Cat 3 & Cat 4 to the tune of $25,000, the cost of the excursions have put us over the edge. Plus we were thinking about a couple of beach outings but not with the clothing optional with our 13 year old son. Really thinking that maybe we could do many trips for the price......

Hi! We will be four; me, dh, and two co-workers.
Me - early 30's
DH - early 30's
Co-worker 1 - mid 30's
Co-worker 2 - mid 30's

I know we will have lots of fun. I have been twice (May 2006 and New Year's Eve 2006).

We are thinking about canceling as well. Just too expensive with a son starting college next fall. I keep hoping we will win the lottery, but not yet.

I had the family look at the excursions and it looks like an additional $3,200 - do any of you who have been to Europe think that this paticular trip is worth the $$? I hate to dwell on it but we never imagined that the extras would be so much extra. We currently have 6 ppl going w/ adjoining cat 3 & cat 4. I figure if we can't do the excursions we could be sitting on a ship anywhere...and we are very hesitant to try snd tour on our own because we've never been to europe before. Any opinion would be appreciated....

Kinda why we are in a pair of Cat 11 rooms.. As for the land side? Well take Rome for instance. Nine euros per person gets you 24 hour pass on the trains and Rome's subway and busses.

The train in Civitavecchia is about 1 mile from the ship and takes 1 hour to get to St Peters stop. From there the bus and subway are quick to the sights. If you really want to budget take a brown bag lunch from the boat.

This will be our one Land side dinner night so I think we will make it a 5 star meal.

We prefer to make our own way. I am not a fan of the "Can I have everybody's attention please. Please stay together and follow your host with the yellow and green flag. Bathroom break will be in fifty seven minutes." excursions.

I am told that the bus tour excursions can take up to 2 hours each way. For us the train is cheaper, more fun, quicker and flexible.

Sorry if you still think it is too much. I seriously Wonder if the Magic will fail this time and Disney will get burned. Good for us. Palo's every night and a major room upgrade. Maybe we will get your cat 3 and 4?

Just teasing...

if anyone is thinking of not doing a Disney tour and wants to share the expense of a guide we might be interested at a few of the ports.

My older single daughter is in her late twenties and she would enjoy the company so we can see what happens. We will be doing the train and self tour to Rome. Past that I am still weighting options.

Wait. . . don't cancel, why do you have to take tours? We are just going to take tours in Rome and Pompeii, the other we are going to walk around the pier, but the prices is not going to stop me to go to this trip!

I see you have a Cat. 3 and 4. Why not downgrade to a Cat. 8 or 9? Or at least a 5. You will save $$ and still go!

We went down to a Cat. 10 because we realized we will never be on the ship except to eat, sleep, and shower so we figured we could downgrade and use the extra money towards excursions.

The only reason we plan to do DCL's excursions is because we are going to leave our kids on the ship for a few of the days and the ship will only wait for you if you are on a DCL excursion...

Try www.shoretrips.com, they have a lot of great excursions and you can do all the cities on your own, they will just provide the transportation to the citiy from the ship and back...

Kissimmee,
 you are such a good sport!

Has anyone thought about what they are going to do the day in la spezia? it is one of two places we have to tender in and the more and more i think about it the less and less florence sounds like a good idea. I have never been to italy, but it just seems too far to go, esp more I read about Cinque Terre
Cinque Terre

Anyone with advice? Like i said I hate the thought of going all the way to Italy and not seeing Florence,:confused3 but I hate the idea of spending soooooo much time in a motor coach if we are going to Rome the day before.:)
