:earsboy: First year in DVC. Can anyone tell me how much trouble it is to switch resorts during stay. Thinking about spending 4 nights at 3 different resorts.

This will be our second year switching resorts. Usually what we do is this: Plan a trip to a park or water-park for the day of the move. Check out early and then head to the park, then, check in late.

Some very recent thread told me something I had no clue about but am very ready to try: The bell crew will switch your luggage from one resort to another.

I guess you just have to give them a call (and a tip) and the luggage will be waiting for you in the next hotel.

That will save a ton of time!

One of the best secrets I learned on this board!

Interesting subject line on original post. I would not jump from CR.

There is another very long thread about switching resorts during your stay, I suggest using the search engine to look for that.

ssrex, not jumping from the contemporary was my first thought too. the only one i can think of that i'd jump from is a ft. wilderness cabin.

thepitz - we've switched before with no problem, but i think it depends on how you travel - lots of kids and lots of stuff might make it harder. 4 nights at 3 resorts is a lot unless you basically have carry ons. the transfer is easy, the bell person picks it up in the morning, and that afternoon it isat new resort. so it is up to you and whether you want that pace, i'd probably stay 4 nughts at one, split 7-8 nights at two, etc, if i wanted to switch, but thats just me - its your vacation.

I guess jumping gets you a "new" room each time- new linens, towels, etc?

I like to stay put once I get to WDW, but many do enjoy switching resorts during their vacation. HOWEVER, switching 3 times during a 4 night stay seems a bit nuts to me!

Check out is 11 am and check out is after 4 pm. You will be without a room during the day.

You will be living out of your suitcase or doing an awful lot of packing and unpacking.

You probably will not be buying soda, water or snacks to keep in the villa (to save a little $$ over Disney prices) - that stuff would be a pain to move 3 times!

You will have to make arrangements for your luggage if you don't have a car or don't want to store luggage in your trunk. Disney will move luggage between their resorts for you, but they do it on their schedule, not necessarily yours. You may have to carry some items around with you during the day that you would not normally carry (i.e., swim suit or maybe medications, digital camera or other valuables,etc.).

Also, you will be spending some time in line at least once per day to check in. You can use express check out unless there is some problem with your bill.

Anyway for me, moving 3 times for a 4 night trip would be way too much time on the hassle/worry scale, LOL!

P.S. You are traveling solo, right??? If not, is it OK with your traveling companion(s) It would truly be nuts to do this with kids!

Best wishes -

with doing what you are planning is you could be without a place to stay for 6 hours or so a day, maybe longer. I am refering to the time it takes from check out to check in. What are you paying for, you might as well stay at one of the value resorts where you just sleep if you can in one of those little holes in the wall. Think about it ,you are paying for a room that you may not have during the day hours. What if you want to change to go for a swim at one of the pools like most people want to do.

Yikes, that is aggressive resort hopping - we are staying at three different resorts on our next trip but that is over 10 nights and that seems a little over the top

thanks

We did a resort hop on our last trip and really enjoyed it. We went from BWV to OKW. With Disney transferring all the luggage, it was a breeze to do. We were all packed up in the morning had bell services take our luggage and then headed over to a park. By early afternoon when we were finished with the park we checked into OKW and called bell services for our luggage and they were there within 10 minutes. They kept all of our food refridgerated - the service was great.

Enjoy!

oops! first time poster. I meant 3 resorts 4 nights each. First 4 nights Boardwalk Villas, Second 4 nights Polynesian and the last four at the Beach Club.

Your correction is a big one. It sounded like you had gone off the deep end with the original.
