Jumping, Dancing & Jamming Our Way Through Walt Disney World! I'm With the Band Now!

YUM! Love the food porn from Ohanas! We will be eating there for the first time in just 42 DAYS!!! :cool1: My cousin and her kids live in Celebration and will be joining us for dinner that night...enjoying "ohana" with my own "family"! :thumbsup2

I think you're going to really enjoy Ohana. Like I said, we liked it so much that we are going back in May. I even gave up Whispering Canyon Cafe for it.

I loved today's update! The CBR pictures are making me really excited to stay there, and I booked an ADR for Ohana this trip too!

On a side note-we also booked the luau for this trip. You mentioned that your family had done it, did you enjoy it? would you do it again?

Thanks!:)

We really enjoyed the luau and have seen it two (maybe three) times. As a matter of fact, if we had not booked the cruise for our 2012 trip, we were going to go to the luau again this May. The storyline is a little bit corny at times but the dancing and the fire twirling more than make up for it. If I find some of the pictures I took, I'll post them here.

So, I have never seen Lilo and Stitch before, and I never knew about the word "O'hana" being in that movie. Last year, my niece's club volleyball team called themselves the O'Hana's and I thought, "How could they name their team after a restaurant at the Poly?":confused3 Yeah… they had to explain it to me! :rotfl:

After the main meal, the server brought out the bread pudding:

I'm not a big fan of bread pudding but I tried it anyway and it was pretty good.

I'll give you extra credit for trying the bread pudding. Way back in 1969-70 when I was station in Norfolk on a Navy ship I tried bread pudding for the first time. WOW!!! Make that the first and ONLY time! I can't remember exactly what I didn't like about it but there was something that just didn't go down well.

Now I seldom pass up the opportunity for dessert but I typically stick with the everyday, ordinary type desserts like cake, ice cream, pie and cookies. I must say I've got a GREAT chocolate chip cookie recipe. At Christmas I bake about 12 dozen to give out to the family. And they're big cookies - only 6 fit on a large cookie sheet.

But NO bread pudding for me!

That picture with Hunter snorting the flower up his nose is hysterical. :rotfl2: That's a keeper.

Dinner at Ohana is always such a treat. I love, love, love the chicken wings. YUM!

Go Hunter - getting up to dance and all.

The pictures of CBR are lovely. It really is a pretty resort. :thumbsup2

Love the update!! I tried to get Dallas to go up and dance when we ate at 'Ohana, but of course he wouldn't :rolleyes1. I think he is still tramatized about being picked to do the African dance in AK.....:lmao:.

I may see if Amanda, Matt and Tyler want to eat at 'Ohana because Dale and Dallas said once was enough for them.

Great update! I'm glad you enjoyed your dinner at 'Ohana. We have been once, it was on the last night of our trip. All of the food was outstanding, but we were so exhausted we didn't enjoy the dinner as much as we thought.

Our fault, not the restaurant's.

:thumbsup2 on scoring a castle view table and being there during the fireworks!!!

That's fantastic that Hunter got up to dance. Good for him.

Ohana was on our short list of restaurant for our last trip, but somehow we passed it for other restaurants. We'll have to try it at some point!

So glad to see photobucket up and working for you again! When Ben and I went to Ohana in 2010 he got up and learned to hula. I was suprised he was willing to as he was 14 at the time but at Disney you're always allowed to be a kid and it was sure fun to watch him do it. He really had a ball with it too and he was the only "big" kid up there and the singer kept telling him how great he was! It was really fun, we loved Ohana too - didn't go last year, just not enough time...

O MY! Love the flower sniffing pictures!:rotfl2: I'm surprised they didn't breathe in some part of the flower!:lmao:

That's awesome that you had such great seats in which to see Wishes!

I'm so interested in eating dinner at Ohana, but the family is so picky I don't know:confused3 I know I'd like it.

My goal next trip is to take the boat to Poly, I really want to see the landscaping and such.

Way to go getting the good seats at Ohana! I got to watch the fireworks from the beach there last June and I loved it! I love the Poly and plan to spend more time there this June. I want to do breakfast at Ohana but I think I will hold off until the Nov. 2013 trip for that. It looks like you all had a great dinner.

I've also never taken the boat from MK to Poly before and I want to try that this time.

I can't wait to hear what happens next!

I am way back on page 110 where I cannot see your pics - with LOTS of updates in between then and now! Do you know when your pictures should return? I don't want to skip ahead.

Coming back to do replies but wanted those of you who couldn't see my pictures because of exceeded bandwidth can now go back and see them. I bit the bullet and went Pro this morning.

I loved your O'hana and Poly pics. 25 days from now I will be checking in there for the first time and I am so excited!!!

Well, you ARE a PRO . . . at Dis trip reports, anyway! The food at Ohanas looked yummy! I have not been there, but I love Kona. If I ever get to stay at a high-end restort, it will definitely be the Polynesian!

Aww that's sweet of you to say. The food at Ohana was very good and we loved it. The Polynesian grounds were so very pretty but I don't see myself booking a stay there any time soon. It's pretty pricey.

I guess it was worth it....we shall see.

They are back now. I upgraded to a Pro account this morning.

I was excited to see that we could see the castle from our table. I bet watching Wishes from the beach was wonderful. The boat ride to and from the resort was very relaxing and pretty.

Leave it to my kids to make a game/competition over something like flower sniffing.

They brought out hot dogs for Hunter to eat because he's a picky eater. I'm a somewhat picky eater and I enjoyed everything but the sauces.

Hunter was 14 too! Isn't it funny how Disney can bring out the kid in us even if we aren't (or don't want to be ;)....teenagers )

I had to work hard to fit Ohana into our 2012 trip but I moved things around so we could.

Ohana was on our short list of restaurant for our last trip, but somehow we passed it for other restaurants. We'll have to try it at some point!

You should put it on your list of restaurants to try. It's really good and the atmosphere is nice too.

Great update! I'm glad you enjoyed your dinner at 'Ohana. We have been once, it was on the last night of our trip. All of the food was outstanding, but we were so exhausted we didn't enjoy the dinner as much as we thought.

Yeah, we've been to those meals where the restaurant and food themselves were fine but we were too pooped to really enjoy it.

Hunter is a dancer anywhere. He even got up to dance in front of an entire wedding crowd last April. They played the Napoleon Dynamite song and he was the first one on the dance floor.

Love the update!! I tried to get Dallas to go up and dance when we ate at 'Ohana, but of course he wouldn't :rolleyes1. I think he is still tramatized about being picked to do the African dance in AK.....:lmao:.

Neither of my kids have been very shy about getting up in front of a crowd.....wonder who they get that from. :rolleyes1

When you ate at Ohana did you ask for alternative foods to be brought out for Dallas and Dale? They brought hot dogs out for Hunter to eat.

That picture with Hunter snorting the flower up his nose is hysterical. :rotfl2: That's a keeper.

I love the flower sniffing pics too. He is such a hoot!

The chicken wings and pot stickers were my favorites.....love 'em!

Ok, I am FINALLY all caught up again!!! I love your Dinosaur pic (yes, I had inexplicably missed THAT much!), and that's so awesome about your table at Ohana! How fun that you were able to watch Wishes from there!

Lacey and Hunter love Lilo and Stitch....especially the part where Lilo sucker punches the other little girl. Ahhhh, such sweet kids I have. Seriously, the movie really is one of our favorites (with the exception of John). Too funny that you thought the team was named after a restaurant. :lmao:

Bread pudding is pretty popular here in Louisiana but I've never liked it. I don't like soggy foods and it kinda grosses me out.

Oooh you have to share the cookie recipe. Please post it....I love to bake!
