Jumping, Dancing & Jamming Our Way Through Walt Disney World! I'm With the Band Now!

I don't know what's up with the Dis - it doesn't send me emails daily like it is supposed to, so I end up way behind sometimes. Anyway, belated congratulations on the new ride! You will have to learn a whole new packing system for the next trip - how great!

It was good to hear that John is doing well with the big change-over in meds. It just takes time to get everything realigned, I'm sure.

Loved Hunter's pictures, especially the one with Boba Fett. And I really like that t-shirt!

You know, I always feel sorry for those people who go to Disney and don't understand the fast pass system, and don't get familiar with Touring Plans or Tourguide Mike or at least get on the DIS and learn from other people. They think waiting in 90 minute lines is normal and what you have to do. They are the ones who are occasionally disappointed in their trips. When I went to Disneyland last month I spent a lot of time reading the DIS posts on different things so I would know how to approach those parks, and it made a huge difference. I took someone from the conference with me one afternoon and whizzed her through fastpasses, single rider lines, and shortcuts and we had a blast. I also knew the best places to eat and get snacks and when. She was so grateful, because she knew she would have gotten to do very little by herself. Research pays off! :dance3:

Enjoy this beautiful weather - I bet you are outside today working in your yard or your garden. And most of all, GEAUX TIGERS!!

I ws way behind but all caught up now.

Nippy cup :lmao: I completely understand that women need to breast feed because I am a woman but I know I wouldn't want to do it in the middle of a crowded resteraunt. River knows how babies are fed but he's never had to sit and watch someone doing it I know he would be VERY uncomfortable.

Congrats on your new car! I got a new used car in June 2010 and it still feels like a new car.

Thats great you get to see Lacey over Thanksgiving and have a getaway trip!

I'm really excited to hear about your Star Wars day. We will be doing one for the first time in June. River doesn't know who the actors are he just wants to meet the characters. Do Darth Vader and Boba Fett talk to you or just sign and pose?

I can't wait to hear more!

It's funny that you talk about this I'm a dis and I use some of the stragies from touring plans, I even looked at tour guide mike once I didn't really get it?:confused3 But to me sometime waiting in a 90 minute line isn't that bad also when you look at the wait time unless it is 15 minutes or under subtract 5 minutes from it as they add that much to make people get fast passes and the wait time also changes with every fast pass given out. (0 minutes I'll take but over 2 hour it's not worth it, I'll come back later.

On our next trip, I am going to take the laptop with me and put my pictures on it every night. Maybe that will help me keep things organized. :confused3

I've been doing that for many years now and it works great for me. I recently got back from a week at Disney World and 3 days at Universal and found my DW & I took over 6,500 photos! I've got a different directory for each day.

Before too long, it was Hunter's turn to take a picture with that ever so popular heavy breathing man...alien...whatever he is...dude, Darth Vader (I told you I don't know a thing about Star Wars. :sad2:)

I like Hunter's choice of who to see! I'd probably see Darth first had I been there. Nothing beats a good villain! :darth:

Morning! I hope that you are all doing well this morning. I'm still feeling a bit "off" this morning even though with the time change we gained an hour. You'd think that I'd be all refreshed and skipping around today. Yeah right! I'm at work. There ain't no skipping around knowing you have to work.

I started a semi-diet this weekend. I've gained about 20 pounds over the last three or four years and, although I am not what most would consider overweight, this stomach pooch is driving me nutso. I also have a history of diabetes on both sides of the family and know that I am at risk. So, I've started cutting back on a few things such as soft drinks, snacks, sugar and salt. The snack part is what is going to kill me. I tend to snack on little things all day long. You should see my desk drawer. It has every kind of snack cracker you can imagine in it along with a ziplock bag of pub mix and another one with pecan sandies cookies.

Today, I brought Diet Dr. Pepper, a sandwich and a plum for my lunch. I'm going to try my best to avoid the pub mix that's in my desk drawer. It'd probably be best to just clean that drawer out and take it all out to the dumpster so I won't be tempted.

I used to walk every day at lunch but it got so blasted hot that I had to stop. I couldn't walk in 100 degree weather and come back to work smelling all stinky and sweaty. Now that the weather is cooling down a bit, I'm hoping I can start walking again. I can usually eat my lunch, make about 5 or 6 laps around the local park (which is a city block) and make it back to the office before my lunch hour is over.

My boss has only one appointment today which makes it a bit hard to write a lengthy installment and with the way Photobucket has been acting lately, it seems to take me forever to write something. Maybe I can get at least a short update posted sometime today.

Lisa, love the Star Wars photos with Hunter. :thumbsup2

I'm with you; I love Toy Story Mania, but I am not waiting 90 minutes for it (I won't wait 90 minutes for Peter Pan!).

Glad John's doing well; keep us posted on the next doctor visit.

You -- diet? From all the pictures I've seen, including the wedding, I don't think you need to diet. You look great!

I agree that ypu dont look like you need to diet, but I can offer tips that helped me lose 40 lbs this year. Definitely cut out the snacking, but have something small to snack on that is healthy, just in case you do get hungry. I use apple slices, but have something you like. Hard sourdough pretzels work, as they are only 100 calories and make you feel full, or even a small amount of nuts. Just no chips or sugary snacks. And diet soda is not much better than regular soda, so I would eliminate that if you can. The walk at lunch is a great idea. That is what i do each day and its worked for me. Just my 2 cents on what helped me :goodvibes

Looking forward to the next update!

I like TSM but I don't like enough to wait 90 minutes for it.

John's next doctor's visit is on the 16th so we'll know what the next plan of action is then. He feels much better now than he did when we first started going to this new doctor and I hope it continues on that same path.

Thanks for the compliment but the stomach pooch is hidden pretty well in most of the pictures. ;) It bothers me so I decided to do something about it. :thumbsup2

Thank you! The snacking is my worst enemy. I love eating on stuff throughout the day and, even worse, right before I go to bed which is definitely a no-no. I like pretzels and need to go to Walmart and pick up the sourdough ones if you say those are better.

I'm hoping to substantially cut down on the soft drinks but know that I'll have headaches from no caffeine if I cut them all out at once. I love me some Coke so it's going to be hard. But, I don't drink a whole lot of Coke a day, just a little throughout the day. Like, right now, I have a can Coke on my desk (the diet Dr. Pepper wasn't cold yet) and it's about half empty and I've been sipping on it since I got here at 8:30 a.m. I'll drink the rest of it over the course of the afternoon. I may have one more glass of Coke during the evening. So, I really don't drink a lot of soft drinks in a day.

I'm hoping to start walking again at lunch. It helps pass the day at work instead of just sitting behind my desk during my lunch hour since we don't have a break room.

I just know that I don't feel comfortable at the weight I am. I need to lose some of my stomach and keep the risk of getting diabetes low.

Love the Star Wars pics! :)

Thanks! I don't care a thing about them but Hunter does so that makes me happy.

I've been doing that for many years now and it works great for me. I recently got back from a week at Disney World and 3 days at Universal and found my DW & I took over 6,500 photos! I've got a different directory for each day.

I like Hunter's choice of who to see! I'd probably see Darth first had I been there. Nothing beats a good villain! :darth:

I'm glad to hear that my idea of taking the laptop will help me keep my pictures organized. Lacey used to do that with all of her pictures when she went on mission trips.

Wow! 6,500 pictures! I thought I took a lot.

Hunter really likes Darth so we knew that was going to be the first character meet of the day.

You know what? I've never once used a touring plan other than my own. Since we have a schedule that would allow for two days in each theme park, we know that if we miss something, we can always go back.

I think I read over on Jen's thread that you were a bit down lately. I completely understand.

As I said, I wouldn't have minded if the breastfeeding lady had just covered up at least a little. She didn't even try. It is a natural thing to do and she has every right to do it but I feel she should have been conscious of those around her.

I'm happy with my new car and have been zipping all over town in it. Of course, I'm parking in that very last parking spot in the parking lots. I'm hoping I can at least go a couple of months without somebody opening their car door on mine.

I am counting down the days until we go to Tennessee. I miss seeing my two babies and can't wait to give them both a big old hug.

I bet River is going to love Star Wars Weekend. Just be prepared to show up early if you want to get Fastpasses for any of the "real" character actors. Neither Darth or Boba spoke but Darth did make his signature hard breathing sounds.

I don't know what's up with the Dis - it doesn't send me emails daily like it is supposed to, so I end up way behind sometimes. Anyway, belated congratulations on the new ride! You will have to learn a whole new packing system for the next trip - how great!

I have had problems with getting emails from the Dis too. Sometimes I'll get them and then sometimes I don't.

When we were looking at cars, we were looking for trunk space too. I know that's not what most are looking for but it's a must for us. I gotta be able to put all my luggage in and have extra space for all my Disney souvenirs.

I think Hunter's Star Wars shirt came from Kohl's but I'm not sure. He got a lot of compliments on it.

Mama couldn't believe how much time Fastpass saved us. We sure put them to use! I

We did work in the garden this weekend. We have turnip greens, mustard greens, cabbage, carrots, sunflowers, onions, garlic and pumpkins planted. The grass is growing like crazy and it's a full time job trying to keep it out of the garden. :sad2:

Snacking was one of my worst enemies too, with the soda. I found the Sourdough Hard Pretzels worked best for me since they were so large and took longer to eat, so I didn't want multiple of them. And the soda was hard for me too. I drank several a day, at least 2-3, and was technically addicted to caffeine. I did it slowly too at first, so I didn't get the horrible headaches from caffeine withdrawl. I still have one occasionally, but at most once a week so I don't get addicted to the caffeine again.

Some of my friends in Utah were surprised I had lost weight, and said they didn't think I needed to either, but I was/am like you. I wasn't comfortable with my weight where it was, and wanted to keep the risk of weight-related health problems down. In my family, it's cholesterol and heart problems moreso than diabetes.

Love the pictures of Hunter and Darth and Bobo. Your comment about the scratched helmet is TOO funny!!! :rotfl2: Next thing you know, you'll be asking Darth if he needs an inhaler.

Nice cliffhanger- can't wait to hear the story that inspired your title.

It's funny that you mentioned Darth and an inhaler. I forgot that was what Lacey said too.

I'm hoping to get the next update posted when my boss' 2:00 appointment comes in.

I know little about Star Wars as well so don't feel too bad. As a matter of fact I would have thought Fett (?) really did need a spruce up! :lmao:

That 90 minute wait would have been much better than our 130 min wait! But I still am not standing in a 90 min line! 45 minutes would be where I draw the line for that ride!

I haven't watched any of the Star Wars movies so I know next to nothing about the characters. I know the main characters like Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Darth, Chewbaca, R2D2 and oh my gosh, I forget his name....the gold guy....C3P0. That's it for my Star Wars knowledge. :confused3

Congrats on the new car. How exciting. Mine is getting old and a lot of miles...but I love it so. I will be sad when it comes time to replace her.

Rumor has it that the numbers a way down and that they even took away some rooms from the deal because they aren't filling....all rumors of course.

Thank you! I am really enjoying the new car. If my other car hadn't started having problems, I would have kept it for at least another three or four years. I am not a "car person" and couldn't tell you what one person drives over the next.

I too get dizzy and sick on my stomach when I come to that section of that ride. I have meneries disease and watching fast movement, spinning, bright lights and spinning lights causes me to walk into walls . Spaceship Earth at EPCOT really gets to me. I have to keep my eyes closed alot. Does limit my salt intake . I have been doing better, but my migraine have went to another route I have auras and visual problems. So see I feel your pain too that day you had your migraines. It use to put me down for days, but now I take my meds and I am doing better except for the visual , but you learn what to do and just go on. Thank you for filling me in on John and I hope he will soon get the correct meds and don't have to take so many. All anyone who has these problems just one day be normal, at least thats the way I feel.

Oh my gracious! I can certainly see why you have to take the meds for the migraines. I've had them all of my adult life but every kind of medication they try me on makes me feel weird or puts me out like a light.

I don't know a Star Wars from a Star Trek, but Darth is cool! Nice posing there Hunter!

:rotfl2: Excuse me Mr. Darth, Do you have asthma? :lmao:

There's a difference between Star Wars and Star Trek? :lmao: Seriously, I know the difference from those two but don't have a clue what either of them are about....maybe Stars? :confused3

I had forgotten about Lacey making funny comments about Darth having asthma and needing an inhaler until you guys started talking about it. She has a quick wit just like her daddy.

I'm also glad to hear that John is doing well. Seizure disorder is tough to live with because the meds used to control it can have so many side effects. I personally think Ativan is a wonder drug. Technically it is an anti-anxiety medication (and it's great for that) but it also will prevent an oncoming seizure, stop a seizure in process and it treats nausea caused by chemotherapy. Just a wonderful medication as far as I'm concerned!

Barb

Ativan is what we call John's "magic medicine". We go nowhere without it!

You are the absolute best .

Thank you! I'm so happy that the gift arrived and that they were pleased with it.

I never had a problem with weight until the last three or four years. I honestly think it has to do with my job. At my other job, I did everything. When I say everything, I mean everything. The only thing my boss did was see the clients during the initial consultation, prep them for court and go to court. I did everything else....typing, phone answering/calling, bookkeeping, errands, etc. I was too busy to snack while at work. At this job, I still do a lot but not nearly as much as I did then. This boss also works at a much slower pace than the other. He knows that he has to take on X amount of clients a month and doesn't care if he gets any more than that. He also waits until the last minute to do anything. So, I have a bit more "down time" and I find myself eating more and more.

I only weigh 121 but that's more than I have ever weighed in my entire life. Even when I was pregnant with my kids. When John and I got married, I didn't even weigh 100 pounds. I just couldn't gain weight unless I was pregnant. The doctors said I was as healthy as a horse even though I wasn't on the scale of the "typical" person my height.

This weight loss is more about feeling more healthy for me than it is anything else. I am showing some signs of being borderline Type 2 diabetic and I am going to do everything in my power to reduce that risk.

LOVE the picture of your son with Darth Vader! :thumbsup2

Q

I thought the picture turned out well. I was just about to post on your trip report!

Thank you so much for all the prayers for my family! We are still on cloud 9 from the excellent test results!!

Love your updates as always.....go check out my facebook page where I posted pics of the shirts my hubby had made for us for our upcoming Disney trip...there is a Darth Vader mickey on it....I bet hunter would like that shirt!

Hi Lisa! Good Luck with the diet!! I too am not really what one would consider overweight.....but believe it or not, I am. Clothes hide a lot! Of course, currently I have other reasons to walk around with a big ol belly! :lmao: However, prior to my last pregnancy I had begun gaining weight. It wasn't fun! For me, a 5ft nothing girl, just gaining an extra 10lbs is very noticable! So I was thinking of going on a diet and then I got pregnant! :upsidedow So that went out the window. Gained another 37lbs during my pregnancy, lost all of that weight pretty much right away. But then I gained another 10lbs of it back  And here I am pregnant again! :rotfl: Hopefully, after this baby I can go back to a decent weight! :cloud9: Anyway. Good Luck! I know diets can be hard! Looking forward to your next installment!!!

I started a semi-diet this weekend. I've gained about 20 pounds over the last three or four years and, although I am not what most would consider overweight...

Good luck with the diet. My best advice is to watch the size of your portions. And try not to eat everything on the plate. Always try to leave something on the plate. I think when it comes issues with weight most people are their own worst critic. We see supposed flaws than no one else does. The toughest part seems to be not letting the weight come back once you've achieved your goal.

I used to walk every day at lunch but it got so blasted hot that I had to stop. I couldn't walk in 100 degree weather and come back to work smelling all stinky and sweaty. Now that the weather is cooling down a bit, I'm hoping I can start walking again.

Walking is great exercise - except when it gets too darned hot! Just how much does it cool down this time of the year in your area? Up North we're heading into the snow season and that cuts down on the walking my wife and I do. Although I enjoy a nice walk when there's some snow on the ground. My wife does her winter walking on a treadmill. I still enjoy getting outside in the woods for exercise - as long as it's not a really windy and cold day.

Of course you have a reason to gain weight right now....pregnant lady! I lost all of my pregnancy weight very soon after having both kids. These last few years have been heck though and I have a tummy that I just don't like.

Thank you! I've always been one who leaves something behind on my plate, even if it's just one bite. John always picks on me about that. I just need to leave more on the plate. ;)

Yesterday, our high was 79 and today it's supposed to be in the upper 70s again. We won't have freezing temps during the day for quite a while. I remember wearing short sleeves at Christmas time.

Hello Friends - Enjoyed the trip report and pictures. After my DD and I finished viewing the pictures we looked at each other and both of us said WE MISS DISNEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We recognize some of the sites in your pictures when we use to drive from DFW Texas to Orlando.

Good luck with the diet. I know what you mean about putting on weight I think I gained maybe 15 pounds in the last few years and the older I get the harder it is to get off. Its good that you start now.

Did you hear they are rereleasing one of the Star Wars movies in 3d? I think its supposed to come out in Feb. River is very excited.
