Jumping, Dancing & Jamming Our Way Through Walt Disney World! I'm With the Band Now!

Hope you are feeling better today. I used to get migraines all the time (I had surgery to correct the problem once they discovered what it was) and they are no fun. :flower3:

Yay for Mama loving Soarin so much. It is such a fun and unique attractions. I love Sunshine Seasons, but I have only ever had breakfast there, so I might feel differently if I tried lunch or dinner.

So sorry to hear about your migraine! I get them as well and it is just so terrible sometimes. Mine tend to last for days too. Hopefully you are on the mend soon!

Loved the update. I also love Soarin' but none of my friends can deal with those simulator rides. Kinda stinks. Also not a fan of Sunshine season, but unlike you I won't go back. I am an Electric Umbrella kind of girl!

I'm so sorry I haven't been on in a couple of days. The headache is still there but not as bad. Hunter had a football game last night and they won 30 to 14! Way to go Patriots!

I've been working on getting donations for the school raffle and have gotten responses from three of the guys on Swamp People, a prominent author based in New Orleans and...get this.....Harry Connick, Jr.! They are each going to donate autographed items to be raffled off and I have local businesses who will donate as well. I have lots more requests out there and hope to get more positive responses. I was smart enough to keep my contacts from my previous fundraising event and am putting those to use again. :thumbsup2

We have guests this weekend, my two nephews who are just a couple of years younger than Hunter. Their mother and father are Boy Scout leaders and have to attend a training camp that started this morning and ends on Sunday. So, the boys are at my house tonight and tomorrow. Their grandmother is out of town for work too but should be home some time Saturday so they may go stay with her Saturday night.

The local fair is in town and I think we may be going tonight. The man who is head of The Civitan's (the same one who got us the reception building at no cost) pretty much runs the ticket office at the fair since it's sponsored by The Civitan's. He usually has a pass that will allow us in the gates free and ride everything we want free. I'm hoping that we can use his pass this evening and take Hunter and my nephews. My nephews have never been to the fair! Can you believe it? Actually, I am betting you can because it's super expensive to go. The tickets are $1 each and the good rides are at least 4 tickets, if not 5. That adds up real quick when the kids want to ride a lot of things. Hopefully, we can get the pass. If not, we may end up at the movies or something (which is not cheap either because we paid $11.75 each to see Lion King 3D last weekend).

In my "down time", which is practically nothing, I am working on little girls' dresses, more backsacks and will be working on Christmas stockings soon. Ya'll need to go to Facebook and friend Mickeystoontown Flair to see a few of the backsacks that I have on there.

Monday, we go back to the neurologist to see what the heck they are going to do with John's medicine. The doctor didn't do a thing with it last time because of the little episode he had at Lacey's wedding rehearsal and we are a bit anxious. We have changed around the dosage a little since then but he's still stumbling around a good bit and missing at least an hour or work every morning and then has to come home during the day on others. I'm thinking that the stress of not knowing what the doctor is going to do next (as well as worrying about the money John's losing every week from not working) is what is causing my continual headache.

Oh well, let me get a little work done so that I can keep the bossman happy. Maybe I can come back and post replies or at least get an update in before I leave work at Noon.

That's awesome that you got a donation from Harry Connick Jr!!
I didn't know Hunter's team were the Patriots! That is so cool. GO PATRIOTS!
I bet that local fair is a lot of fun. I can only imagine, though, how multiple tickets for multiple rides for multiple people can add up really quickly! I've been dying to get to "The Big E" in western Mass this year, but it just never happened. Maybe I can talk someone into going this weekend.
I hope they straighten out John's meds on Monday. I also hope that the darned headache that has been bothering you for days goes away today. Have a great weekend & have fun visiting with your nephews!

I hate migraines. I get them too. I don't get the light sensitivitly, but I feel like my head is going to fall off and that I could throw up.
I hope you get to feeling better.
And I hope they get Johns meds figured out.

Great job with your fund raising. Have you tried Ellen Degeneres as she is from LA also.
have a good weekend

We are going to our local fair sunday after church. It can be expensive. They pre-sell armbands a few weeks before. They are $25.00 for admission and unlimited rides. So, by the time I buy 2 armbands, admission for my DH and myself($5.00 each) and food all day, you are looking at around $100.00. It is fun though once I get over the fear of the kids riding those rides. It freaks me out thinking of how unsafe they probably are.

Have a great weekend whether its at the fair or movies! I hope John's meds get worked out soon. Having to change around meds/dosing is a huge headache :confused3. So I hope it all gets resolved soon! :thumbsup2 Until then, I'll be praying for you sanity.:goodvibes

Hooray for Hunter's win in the football game! I hope he gets drawn in the lottery...New York would be a great trip!

I hope John's meds get figured out...with all you have had going on no wonder you had a migraine!

We only go to our State Far when Keith scores parking and entrance passes and we still spend big bucks on rides and food...but I love fair food!! :)

Here's a tower with a weather station advertisement on it:

I've been inside that tower to repair that radar system. How funny. FYI, it's 150' off the ground.

Even though I am deathly afraid of heights, I've loved this attraction every since it opened. I've learned to turn my head to the side when we get to the tops of the cliffs and once we are over them, I'm A-okay. :thumbsup2 Everybody clapped when the ride was over and we met up with Mama and Hunter. Mama was grinning from ear to ear. Soarin' is one of her favorite attractions at Walt Disney World.

Would I go back to Sunshine Seasons again? Ummmm, I guess so but it wouldn't be my top choice.

I do remember that we bought John's friend and his girlfriend a nice picture frame (they were watering our garden while we were gone), my sister a set of salad tongs with Mickey on them (she was feeding our pets), my niece some pizza plates (I have her name for Christmas) and a spoon rest for John's mother for Christmas.

Soarin' - :woohoo:
Glad you liked it. I love it when people clap at the end.

We've always gotten good food at Sunshine Seasons. It can get way crowded in there. Very true. :crowded:

I like your practical souvenirs. I like getting things we/others can really use when we get home. ::yes::

We went to see The Lion King on Saturday and loved seeing it at the movies I wish they would release all thier old movies back to the theaters!

I hope you don't think I'm crazy but who are the Swamp People:confused3

I'd love seeing all the oldies on the big screen again, too, but I'd like them to be at the old prices. ;) Going to the movies is so expensive these days!

I have heard of Swamp People because I have young men in my house. I don't exactly know what they do, as I have never seen them, but I have heard of them. I don't think you are crazy at all. Swamp people - they are probably the crazy ones. ::yes::

Hey Lisa- I've haven't checked in for about a week, but I see you are busy as always!!!

Migranes- DISLIKE!!! Hope you are feeling better.

Hope things settle with John and his dosage. How stressful for all of you!

Yeah on Hunter's Football win!!! Go Patriots!!! We have not been quite as successful on the (flag) football field this year. The boys teams are a collective 0-6. :scared1: But having fun!

Rooting for Hunter to go to NYC! What a fantastic trip that would be! How many get to go? When do you find out- it must be in the winter/spring since there are eligibilty requirements.

You are getting some awesome items for the auction. The school has found the perfect person to sweet talk celebrities! Can't wait to hear what other goodies you get!

Sounds like a fun ride on Soarin'. Sorry you didn't love Sunshine Seasons. It is one of our favorites. Even my picky eater adores the pork chop there. My adventurous eater got the soup with tofu. And Strawberry Shortcake is my preferred dessert with the meal!

In my "down time", which is practically nothing, I am working on little girls' dresses, more backsacks and will be working on Christmas stockings soon. Ya'll need to go to Facebook and friend Mickeystoontown Flair to see a few of the backsacks that I have on there.

Hi Lisa, Did not see a like button so sent friend request.
Hope headache is better!
Here's prayers for Hunter to go to NYC!
Hope John's doc fixes meds.

I hope you are feeling better!

Yay for Hunter's team that they won again. I hope he gets to go to NYC. The drawing is this Thursday, right? Do they find out right away if they are going? And great job at getting that stuff for the auction. Harry Connick Jr is supposedly a great guy, and being from LA I'm not shocked he donated. I agree that you should try for something from Ellen DeGeneres.

I will keep John and you in my thoughts that the doctor can do something with his meds to keep him from being over-medicated, but healthy and comfortable. That way you won't have to worry so much!

Hi Lisa. I am praying that John's doctor will have some good ideas for getting his meds straight when you go tomorrow. That is so stressful for both of you. Hope the headache is all gone by now, too. Hope you had a good weekend and got to take the boys to the fair. That is always fun for kids that age, but WOW that is expensive! I haven't been to the fair in years so had forgotten the expense, I guess.

That is one thing about Disney - even though it is expensive, I always feel that I am getting my moneys worth. On my very first visit to WDW in 1978, I noted the incredible attention to detail and the emphasis on the guests. There were so many well-thought-out things that made you comfortable and happy, so I never begrudged the cost. Over the years, they have maximized the profit margin, but even so no other park or fun attraction can stand the comparison.

The Pierre Part portion of the Swamp People was filming right down the road from our camp a while back. I wasn't down there or I would have been out there watching! We went fishing in the Atchafalaya last week and I got some awesome pictures. (And my husband got some bass!) I saw lots of birds, including the normal egrets and herons and some ibis and spoonbills as well. Also saw a couple of alligators, about 4-5 feet.

I'm looking forward to hearing that you and John are both much better!

So far behind and no time to really comment...but I'm caught up again. I'm still here even if I never post! Life here is a bit topsy turvy. Hoping it settles soon!

The wedding was gorgeous...nice job to you Lisa for all your hard work and preparations! ;)

Right off the bat, I'm gonna apologize that I haven't gotten back to post replies, updates, etc. The headache is now just a slight annoyance and the pounding has almost gone away. I'm thinking I'll mention it to John's doctor today in passing and see if maybe, just maybe, he'll feel sorry for me and prescribe some type of migraine medicine that I haven't tried before. I have to be real careful in asking though because I don't want any mention of it in his notes or worker's compensation won't pay for John's visit. I also don't want to sound like some druggy asking for a bogus prescription. :sad2:

As I said before, my nephews stayed with us for part of the weekend. My niece dropped them off Friday morning and I took them to school when I took Hunter. I also picked them up and then dropped the surprise to them that we were going to the fair. They have never been before and were about to bust their britches they were so excited.

We arrived at the fair just a little after 6:00 p.m. and my nephews were talking the entire way there. Once the fair was insight, they were chattering even more. It was all that John and I could do to keep up with them. They were nearly running from one ride to another asking if they could do this and if they could ride that. It was fun for Hunter too because he had somebody to ride with. I forgot to take my camera with me so I took pictures on John and Hunter's phones and sent them to my niece so she could see what a good time they were having. She's a bit overprotective and doesn't take them many places so I thought it'd be nice if she could see them laughing and enjoying themselves.

I was standing at the bottom of the ferris wheel (ya'll know I ain't going on it....after all, it was more than a foot off the ground :lmao:) and talking to a lady who was waiting on her son and husband who were on it as well. We were saying how expensive it was to go to the fair. Had we had to pay for tickets, the tickets just to ride the ferris wheel would have been $20 for four people! :scared1: I told her that we got to Walt Disney World every year and people usually fussed about how much it cost. She agreed with me that Disney was a much better deal than going to the fair. But, like she and I said, there ain't much that comes to our town so if there's any sort of extracurricular activity or show there, we go.

We left the fair 3 hours later with three tired boys. They had ridden just about everything there was to ride with the exception of the kiddy rides and were starving to death. Normally, we would find burgers or something from one of the church groups set up at the fair but it was starting to really busy since the high school football game was over and it was moonlight madness night.

All the way to the car and all the way to the pizza place, the boys talked and talked and talked. They called their mother to tell them what all they had done and they said it was the "best day of my life". At the pizzaria, the boys sat in one booth and John and I sat at a table across from them. I heard one of my nephews tell Hunter "today....I became a man". It was so funny!

So I guess Uncle John and Aunt Lisa are now the best aunt and uncle on the planet and are responsible for my nephew becoming a man. :lmao:

It was around Midnight before everybody turned in for the night. Well, when I say turned in, I mean everybody was lying down on a couch, bed or something similar and watching a movie. A little after 7 a.m., I heard bathroom doors closing and rumbling around in the house. Crap! They were up already? After pulling on a pair of pajama pants, I padded into the living room to see both of my nephews already dressed and asking when they could go swimming. Are you kidding me? Seriously? Are you kidding me? One look at their faces and I knew. They weren't kidding me. :sad2:

I fixed breakfast and turned them loose outside with strict rules that they were not to go near the swimming pool until John came out and cleaned it up a little. We hadn't been in it in a week and it needed vaccuming and some chemicals put in it. By 9:00 a.m., we were outside in the porch swing watching them swim their little hearts out. Hunter, on the other hand, was inside lounging. He is used to sleeping late on weekends and was not ready to jump in a pool at that time of the morning.

My sister (my nephews' grandmother) came about Noon to pick them up and they were not ready to get out of the pool. Nor did they stop talking about the fair and everything they saw and rode.

About 2:00, Hunter and I went to run errands and we found more awesome redline deals at Hollister. Everything that was on clearance was an additional 50% off. I got him two long sleeve button up shirts and four t-shirts for a little over $60.00 which is good for Hollister. I tried on a bunch of stuff at another store but came out with absolutely nothing.

Yesterday, we took the day of rest literally and did nothing. We didn't even go to church yesterday. We had a guest speaker and I hate to admit it but I've heard him before and I did not like him at all. The last time I heard him speak, I was thinking about going home the entire time and I felt really bad about it. Other than going to buy groceries, we did a whole lot of nothing. We'd go outside for a bit and then go inside for a bit. Wait, I take that back, we watched The Amazing Race which we love.

So, that's what we did this weekend. We became the official best aunt and uncle of the world, were responsible for turning a mere boy into a man and lazed around. What a weekend!

In just a little bit, I will be leaving work and heading to John's doctor's appointment. Ya'll keep your fingers crossed that he decides what he wants to do with the meds.

My boss is going to an out of town seminar Wednesday and will be out the rest of the week. I know for a fact that I'll have time to post installments then. Please hold tight....I will be back!
