Jumping, Dancing & Jamming Our Way Through Walt Disney World! I'm With the Band Now!

We like both T-Rex and RFC! I had heard so many complaints about the food tht when I went the 1st time I was really surprised becasue we found it to be quite good! As a matter of fact T-Rex is a must for our family now!

We liked the both too and have eaten at them numerous times. I'm thinking we'll eat at T-Rex next trip.

We went to RainForest Cafe in Niagara Falls last summer and quite enjoyed both our meal and the atmosphere. :)

My mother had eaten at one before when they were in Tennessee (I think that's where she said it was.). She said they enjoyed that location as well.

Sorry for the Reward point fiasco! Good idea to ask for the phone # when you get transferred....I don't know how many times I have been 'disconnected'! Grrrr!! I will definitely take that tip and ask from now on..

Glad you were able to be seated earlier and had a great meal! We also enjoy the Rainforest Cafe...
Those hand dryers look scary...like they would close in on your arms!! LOL :rotfl2: that's cool that they work though...

I guess working in the legal field, I know to always get everyone's name that I talk with and their telephone number. I don't know how much it helped in this situation but at least I had the info. if I needed it.

We were happy to get into Rainforest Cafe' early. Those snacks from the snack bag didn't hold us over for very long.

That whole rewards card fiasco was kinda ridiculous. I mean, when you continually get disconnected or they hang up on you that just isn't right :sad2: Well, you got through it all so that's good :thumbsup2 Looks like you had a lot of fun at Rainforest Cafe! The food looked great and you seemed to enjoy it. I want that BBQ wrap! LOL (: And LOL at the whole thing with the hand dryers! I think I've gone crazy over that stuff before as well, it's amazing how the simplest things can entrance you Hahaha Can't wait to read about some DTD shopping! :mickeyjum

I can now sympathize with the other guests who stomped off because the castmember wouldn't make the call for her. I'm betting she had gone through what I went through that day.

Lacey's BBQ wrap was delicious! We all sampled off each other's plates. ;)

Mmmmm, I really like RFC, and your appetizer trio looks so yummy! But I counted 4 apps, or do the chips not count?

I didn't know Visa would do a Disney debit card. Does it let you get the photo opp in Epcot just like the credit card? And is this available from only certain banks? Sorry so many questions, inquiring minds want to know. :lmao:

Oops, there are actually four things on the appetizer plate aren't there. I usually order the appetizer trio at Applebee's and I guess I was thinking about that when I wrote this. The chips and dip were the fourth thing on the plate.

Unfortunately, Chase Bank is doing away with the Disney Visa debit cards sometime this month. We did get all the perks that the Disney Visa holders got (and they get to keep but the debit card holders do not). Oh well, I guess it was good while it lasted.

What a frustrating ordeal to get your rewards card activated!!!
Sounds like you had a good meal at RFC. I've always had good luck there, too.

It was a big pain in the behind. I couldn't believe I got disconnected so many times.

Hey Lisa,
Welcome back - I'm glad ya'll made it home safely! It sounds like you had a wonderful trip (despite the storms and hail). Lacey and Jesse's apartment sounds great.
I'm excited to hear about your purchase and what you got to see! And let's not forget about your pictures!
:upsidedow

So glad you had a good time. I can't wait to hear all about it.

Glad you guys had a great time! I began planning our Thanksgiving trip over the weekend and thought about you guys up there! It stinks when you get stuck in traffic/weather/wrecks well anythign that makes your drive that much longer!!

Also it I know it has to be a relief to know Lacey will be living somewhere safe!! Can't wait to hear all about it!

A cliff hanger! AHHHHHHH!! I hope you find that minute or two soon. Really enjoying your trip report!:goodvibes

What a crazy drive you guys had! Glad ya'll made it back safe and sound! The suspense is killin me...What did ya get?...LOL!

Lisa, so glad you had a great trip, minus the driving parts! I'm sure you have so much more piece of mind now knowing the apartment Lacey and Jesse will be living in is safe and nice.

Cannot wait to read the report on the mini-trip! Hope you get to write it up soon, the suspense is killing me! :rotfl:

Welcome back! Road construction seems to be a universal problem. At least you seem to have had a great time besides the driving part.

Happy to hear to had a safe road trip. I can't wait to hear all about it.

Welcome home! Such horrid weather/traffic you had! Makes a long trip unbearable at times! Hope the AC held out!

So glad you had a good time! Can't wait to hear what you got!?!?! ;)

Welcome back. Glad you had a safe trip, although long one due to construction (have to love summer construction jobs).

Glad you feel better knowing that Lacey and Jesse are in a safe place.

OK - spill - what did you buy that You've been wanting for a year?????

Glad you had a nice weekend, sans the horrible traffic.

Glad you had a good trip (construction and weather aside). Can't wait to hear about it!!

Welcome Home! Sorry the weather was less than cooperative, but I am glad you were able to see Lacey and Jesse's new apartment and have piece of mind knowing where they are living.

Oh, trippin around with Lisa! Can't wait! You save me a lot on my vacation budget by bring me along (electronicly) with you!

Welcome Back!!

OK it has been a day already. Stop the suspense and tell us what you saw/got. Glad you had a safe trip and are comfortable with the kids arrangements.

Welcome home!! :)

Thank you all for the welcome homes! I have all of my pictures uploaded and will not leave you hanging and will post as soon as I can get my boss to hush up. He's getting married on July 22nd and is in full blown groomzilla mode! they say brides are bad but they ain't got nothing on my boss! He driving me bonkers!

Hey Lisa- Just wanted to let you know that the backsack I got from you will be making its first trip to the MK on Wednesday! We leave on Monday for a quick 4 night stay at the Portofino Resort at Universal.

I'll be sure to get a picture of me using it and post it here!

Oooh, I can'twait to hear about the trip. Let me know when you start a trip report because I want to read all about it. We are thinking about taking a day and wandering over to Universal during our next trip to Walt Disney World.

Hi Lisa!

So glad you had a great trip!!:goodvibes Can't wait to hear about it!:thumbsup2

Oh...and I know I've said it before but I love  all your pictures around CBR! I really need to talk those guys of mine to give it a try one of these days.;)

I'm hoping to get the mini report up soon. I wish you could get your family to agree to stay at the CBR. I think they'd really enjoy it.

Wow! You are one busy lady! Glad to hear you had a good trip to Tennessee, sorry the drive there and back wasn't so great.

Oh my goodness! :scared1: I can't believe John is still walking around with that level of meds in his system. Hope everything gets straightened out soon and that he feels better with no side effects from the withdrawals.

It's been so busy at our house. I don't know if I am coming or going. :rotfl:

I almost freaked out when the doctor said his levels were toxic.

Hi, Lisa. Hope John continues to have no "side effects" from the change in meds.

Great job on the alterations on Lacey's dress. I'm with you two -- mine had to be taken in the bosom area too! :sad2:

Good luck on the search for dresses.

Thanks Kathy. Up until last night, John was doing pretty good with the addition of the new pill. After he took his dose last night, he was pretty wobbly and was the same way this morning. This wasn't a surprise because the doctor said that was something to watch for.

Lacey's alterations looked pretty simple and I might could have done them myself but I didn't want to be responsible if it turned out badly. Let somebody else take the fall for that. ;)

Wow I can't believe John's meds were that much higher than they should be! I hope he feels better when he gets off some of that, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for no side effects.

You had one busy day it made me tired just reading it you sure got a lot done.

I hope you can find good homes for your growing cat population!:cat:

Can you believe his med levels? I was shocked!

One of cats was caught yesterday and is now at the shelter. I am hoping they can find it a good home. I just couldn't keep that many cats.

Oh my goodness, I hope John's medications are worked out and adjusted to soon! I'll be sending lots of good thoughts your guys' way!

How fun about dress fitting! Hahaha I'm not blessed in the chest department either, I know all about the fitting and pinning all in that area! I'm sure that the gown looks gorgeous! :goodvibes

Thank you so much. Nobody in our family is "blessed" in the chest department. That is.....unless they bought them. :lmao:

I look forward to hearing about the Tennessee trip. East Tennessee is pretty country, and it will be amazingly beautiful in the fall.

I'm definitely glad you feel good about the nice, safe place. :thumbsup2

I love hearing about the garden. One day, when I retire, I want to have a nice garden. Until then, I only admire the talents and the harvest of others.

I hope you get all of those medicines worked out and find just the right fit for John.

If Lacey and Jesse don't get to visit at Thanksgiving, I'm thinking we are going to make the trip to Knoxville. I would love to see the Fall colors.

John's parents and my parents had gardens when we were small so we grew up having a garden. It's so nice to walk out and see the produce growing.

Busy Lady! I picked 15 lbs of strawberries and put up 25 jars of jam on Thursday, and that just about did me in. :sad2:

I hope everything with John's meds go well. My sister had to wean off some meds last year and it didn't go as well as she'd liked, but is better now. They had her on a too high does as well.

Good luck on the dress hunt:thumbsup2

Strawberry jelly on a hot biscuit sounds devine right now! Too bad I'm having a dumb old sandwich for lunch.

I'm glad to hear that your sister is doing well. It's such a scary time to go through.

Busy lady!! I am so envious of your garden so you are just going to have to stop talking about it!! :lmao: We just hit two Farmer's Markets and loaded up on some things I now have to freeze. We have wonderful Yazoo Clay that doesn't support growth of anything!! :sad2: Before moving here we had a great garden every year and now all we have are our memories and the Farmer's Market!! :headache:

I love apple butter!! Yum!! And I hope John's meds get worked out soon!!

Our farmer's market hasn't had a whole lot of produce this year. But I am also not able to get there super early when the nice looking things are out. Usually, by lunch time, all the vendors have already gone home.

Apple butter sounds good. I made apple jelly and applesauce and plan on making more. I need to get busy with it though because our apples are blistering in the sun and are becoming useless (except for being food for the deer and raccoons.)

I hope we get to read a trip report from you when you get back!

I'm hoping to get the installment up soon.

:scared1:Whoa, John's med levels were crazy. Glad he is on the road to lowering them and getting himself healthy while not being over-medicated!

The garden is coming along great is seems. Homemade jelly is awesome, and great that you make some from the apples.

Glad Mama kitty and her other kitten showed up, so you know they are safe. I'm sure someone will adopt them once you catch them and get them to the shelter.

Whoa! is right! I had to pick my jaw up off the floor when the doctor told us his levels. I'm thinking his body is not absorbing or processing the meds correctly any more since he's been on them so long.

I'm caught one of the kittens and took it to the shelter yesterday. Hopefully, they can find it a good home. I simply can't keep them all.

Hi Lisa,

It took me a while to catch up but I am joining in.

Great start so far. You pictures of CBR are making me want to stay there in a future trip.

Good to hear you are going to IOA on your next trip. I think you will love it.

I hope you don't mind. I took the picture on page 8 that you said was took dark to see Hunter's face and I spruced it up a bit. I just bought a book on Photoshop and it gave me a change to practice a technique.

The original was not too high a resolution and my edited phot is a bit grainy. If you want me to update an original then you can PM me.

Oh, you startled me at first on the pregnancy comment...I am too gullible. You are too funny :rotfl2:

Glad to see you back on the Disboards. Funny how "real" life gets in our way of Dising. How cool that you were able to lighten up Hunter's picture. I knew the boy was making a silly face and now you've proven it.

Sounds like a great trip to Knoxville! Can't wait to hear about it. I am envious of your garden. I need to get beans, corn, and tomatoes soon to freeze. I should be getting blueberries soon from my DH's grandmother too. I hope everything works out on John's meds. I know how hard it can be to regulate with seizure medication.

Do you freeze your tomatoes? I have never frozen them, only canned them. John's daddy picked some blueberries a while back and gave them to us but they weren't very sweet.

If Lacey and Jesse don't get to visit at Thanksgiving, I'm thinking we are going to make the trip to Knoxville. I would love to see the Fall colors.

Great update, Lisa. So glad that you all enjoyed Hunter's birthday lunch at Rainforest Cafe. We've been to the one in Chicago and the one in Las Vegas and both were NOT good at all. We've not tried either one at Disney due to this fact. Maybe one of these days we'll give it another try in DW.

Love the hand dryer...that looks really neat.

I'm still feeling the need to talk Disney but I will surpress the urge and post about our trip to Knoxville, Tennessee.

Let me give you a little background. Lacey had been in Knoxville for a couple of weeks and was scheduled to come home on the Thursday before the long July 4th weekend. She had made the trip there because Jesse (her fiance) had found an apartment for them and she wanted to see it and start getting things settled. Also, Jesse's aunts were giving them a bridal shower while Lacey was there.

You guys should have seen what Lacey's Jeep Cherokee looked like loaded down with her stuff. Actually, maybe it's best that you didn't see what it looked like. After reading my trip reports and seeing my latest on how amazed we were by the hand dryers, you'd really think we were "country come to town" if you had seen her Jeep. :lmao: We had a mattress and box springs strapped to the top of the Jeep. Because John's semi-paranoid about things coming upstrapped, he also looped a strap through each window and hooked them inside vehicle. That mattress and box springs weren't going anywhere!

We laid her backseat down and she had boxes all in the back. John wouldn't let her stack anything up very high though because he wanted her to be able to see if the mattress decided to pop off and go flying down the interstate. (As if!) There was a lot of stuff that couldn't be fit in so she left it at the house knowing somebody would have to make another trip to Tennessee to get the rest there.

While she was gone, John and I started talking about wanting to see where Lacey and Jesse would be living, how we would get all of her other things there, etc. I suggested that we make a trip there. We could load up the car and, as a bonus, we'd get to see their apartment. It would make us all feel better knowing where she would be living. As an extra bonus, maybe we could take a road trip within a road trip while we were there and see a few Tennessee sights. John agreed. We asked Mama if she wanted to go. She said yes. And, a trip to Tennessee was planned.

We called Lacey and asked if she wanted to stay longer and, of course, she did but wanted to know what the catch was. I told her that we wanted to come see their apartment and we would bring some of her stuff with us. She and Jesse were both very excited and said they couldn't wait for us to come.

Our plan was to hit the road by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, July 1st. I get off work at Noon on Friday's and John gets off at 2:30 p.m. I was able to get all of the last minute things done while I was waiting for John to come home. He rolled in right at 2:35 p.m. I forget that their time clock is 10 minutes faster than "normal" clocks. When he pulled in, Mama, Hunter and I were putting the last of the things in her van. We had things stuffed in between the seats, under the seats, piled into the back and sitting on the seats. I was trying to take advantage of every little nook and cranny.

John hopped in the shower while I did a final inspection of the house. Take out the garbage. Check! Clean the litter box. Check! Put chemicals in the pool. Check! Make sure Oddball had plenty of water. Check! Turn thermostat up. Check! Turn all of the televisions off. Check! (We have a bad habit of not turning at least one of them off while we are at home. Even if nobody's watching it.) Leave note for my niece. Check! John finished up and we were ready to hit the road.

We were in the van and pulling out of our driveway more than a half hour before we had planned. :yay: Once we hit the interstate, it was 3:20 p.m. and Mama had volunteered to drive the first leg of the trip. I've never told my Mama this and I don't intend to ever tell her but she scares the beezes out of me when she drives. :scared1: She likes to floor it when a light turns green (she calls it "gut it") and won't drive in the left lane unless she absolutely has to. Drives me crazy!

Anyway, she took the first leg of the drive while I kept my eyes turned to look out the side window lest I die of a heart attack with her driving. Yes, I am exaggerating. But, she does scare me a bit. (Again, I'll never let on to her though.)

Ya'll remember when we were driving to Disney and we came close to the Mississippi River? Remember how high the flood waters were? We were anxious to see how much they had gone down. As we approached the Mississippi, I readied the camera.

You can see that there's still quite a bit of water peeping through in this picture:

102_2582.jpg

I tried to capture a picture where you could see the water marks on the posts and trees but it doesn't show up very well:

102_2583.jpg

102_2584.jpg

The Mississippi River. You can see along the bank line how much the water has gone down:

102_2587.jpg

102_2589.jpg

So, these next two have the railings/beams of the bridge in the picture but you can see bits of the debris along the banks of the river:

102_2591.jpg

102_2592.jpg

You can see it better in this one:

102_2593.jpg

We made it through Vicksburg, Mississippi and, if I am remembering correctly, somewhere between Vicksburg and Jackson, Mississippi, we encountered our first section of road construction. We were, literally, stopped. When the traffic did move, it was only a few feet, if not inches. I tried to take a picture in the side mirror to show the traffic behind us but you can't really tell how far back the cars went:

102_2594.jpg

I held the camera out the window a bit and tried again:

102_2595.jpg

After almost an hour, we were through what was supposed to be road construction. Know what? There was NO road construction! Just signs that said road construction and one lane road ahead. There weren't any barrels out. There was no equipment on the road. There were no workers on the road. Traffic was stopped for absolutely nothing! :headache:

Traffic started moving again and we made it through Jackson, Mississippi. When I saw the Hwy. 49 Exit, I found myself wishing we could take the exit and continue on down because that's the exit we take when going to Walt Disney World. Instead, we took a left ramp and started towards Meridian, Mississippi. That's when we saw this:

102_2596.jpg

102_2597.jpg

I'm sure the driver of that vehicle never has any doubt that other drivers see him/her coming! That was one metallic purple Suburban!

Later on, we stopped for something to eat, gas and a potty break. I took over the driving and was happy to be behind the wheel. We made it past Birmingham, Alabama and the humongous Mercedes plant/factory/whatever. We drove on by the Boy Scout's of America headquarters too. (Although I can't remember which came first.) By this time, it was getting a bit late so Mama made a call to the Jameson Inn in Knoxville to remind them that we were going to be checking in late. I had made a notation on the reservation when I booked online but we figured it wouldn't hurt to call. Plus, we had an extra hour delay when we got stuck in traffic. The lady that Mama spoke with said that they did have the notation and everything would be fine.

Somewhere along the way, and I can't remember where, we encountered more construction. I know it was between Tuscaloosa and Chatanooga. I know for sure there was construction in the Chatanooga area. It was completely dark and we were driving along a section where they had one complete side of the interstate closed meaning we were driving on two lanes with traffic driving straight towards you. There was a barrier in between the two lanes and you had to drive with your right tires on the shoulder of the road. Did I mention that the speed limit was 50? Yeah right! How the heck were you supposed to drive 50 miles an hour given those conditions?

Oh wait! Wait! Wait! I totally forgot something....the other reason, the drive took so darn long! Something happened to Mama's transmission. When we would go up even the slightest hill, it started to feel like it was missing or jerking a bit. We pulled off at a gas station and John checked the transmission fluid and there was none! Nothing! Nada! Not a drop! We bought transmission fluid and filled it back up. We went along another 100 miles or so and it did it again! We pulled over and got more transmission fluid and refilled it.

I was praying over that van like I've never prayed before and I am not being facetious. I could see us stranded along this road construction laden interstate with a van that wouldn't go any where. I was asking God to please lay his hands on the hunk of junk so that we could make it to Tennessee and then I didn't care if the wheels fell off. Please please please just let us get there. :littleangel:

Finally, after what seemed like forever, we made it to the Tenneessee state line and the Welcome Center. First thing we did was check the fluid again and, again, add more to the bottomless pit that is the transmission of the blasted Ford Mini-Van. While John and I did that, Mama called the Jameson Inn and, once again, told them that we were getting in later than we had expected when I booked and later than we expected when we last called. They assured her that it wouldn't be a problem and that they'd have our rooms waiting for us. I should hope that they would since we had already paid for them and it was now after 1:00 a.m. They also told us that it should take us about 2 hours from the Welcome Center until we arrived at the Jameson. Thank goodness! Now, I just had to pray a bit more over the van and hope that we made it.

Want to see what we looked like at 1:00 a.m.? No, too bad: :lmao:

102_2598.jpg

Once the fluids were restored in the van, it was time to take a potty break. Let me just tell you that the Welcome Center was one of the nicest we had ever been in. It was nice and clean and had every sort of brochure you could ever want that pertained to any Tennessee destination. Lacey called while we were there and we told her to just go to bed and we'd call her when we woke up the next morning. There was no need for her to wait up on us. I grabbed a few brochures for the Knoxville, Gaitlinburg and Pigeon Forge areas and then we were ready to get back on the road.

The Welcome Center had a neat bench outside that was made from colored tiles. Behind it were sculptures. The bench had a snake (not a literal snake...a tile one) wrapped around one side and a lizard on the other side and waves in the back.

102_2599.jpg

102_2600-1.jpg

102_2601.jpg

These were behind the bench:

102_2602.jpg

I never did figure out what snakes, lizards, waves, fish and turtles had to do with Tennessee but they were cute.

**Up next: What do you mean you don't have the room we reserved? Is there no room at the Inn?

"I never did figure out what snakes, lizards, waves, fish and turtles had to do with Tennessee but they were cute"

I love that rest area. We stop there everytime we go to Chattanooga. I think the lizards, turtles, etc. are supposed to represent the rivers of Tennessee and the Chattanooga Aquarium. Not sure but that is what I think.

By Thanksgiving the fall colors are gone (usually). One year we went and lower elevations still had a lot of reds and orangs but that is a great time to go! We go every Thanskgiving...booking opur hotel this week!!

Well great! Here I was thinking we were going to see some fall color! Shoot! Where are ya'll going to stay when you go? I'm thinking we'd stay in Knoxville for a day or two and maybe somewhere else another night or two.

We have a pear tree too! The deer havent' made it over to the pear tree yet but they've been munching on the apples.

It's so hot here! Today our high is just 101 with a heat index or 105. Yesterday, at 6:00 p.m., it was 103 and I have no idea what the heat index was but it was probably something like 200! There wasn't a breeze blowing anywhere.

Maybe you should give the Rainforest Cafe' at Disney a try. We've always had good luck but we aren't too picky about what we eat either.;)

Ohhhhh, that makes sense. I never thought about that. I was thinking more along the lines of Ruby Falls and black bears.

OH! There had better be a room, or I see some butt chewing !

That bench was very cool!

That Welcome Center is great! I've stopped at quite a few along the East Coast going back and forth to Florida, and none are like that. That bench is beautiful. I would have taken pictures of it too.

I forgot to mention before, I booked today for my WDW vacation, and I've decided to stay at POP Century again. I'd love to do a moderate, but I really can't afford it on my own.

Can't wait to read the rest of the TN trip report and then your WDW TR :)

I am so jealous! I want to eat at the rainforest!!! Maybe this year perhaps!!! Yay for TN!!! But booo for it taking decades to get there!

We love the TN Welcome Center!! It was closed in November and March when we went up. I am glad to hear it is open again! You are right...so many brochures!!! :goodvibes

The road construction between Vicksburg and Jackson can be so bad!! Too bad it took forever to get there!

We really like going at thanksgiving...color or not! :goodvibes We will be staying either in Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg. G'Burg has some really decent prices but Keith wants a balcony by the river so I am searching for all he wants and not spend lots of moolah...not an easy task!!

By you have had your share of car troubles this year! tIME FOR A TRADE IN? Can't wait to hear the rest of your mini trip. How many days till the wedding?

Great update!! I hate traffic that comes to a stop for now reason. It always does that on I 75 below Atlanta. Can't wait to hear more.

Oh, BTW, I do not freeze tomatoes. I can them. I just lumped everything together.;)

Hi Lisa,
Great non-Disney road trip update!

Maybe you should paint Mama's van that same color purple as the surburban! :cool2: The color might make you forget the recent transmission fluid and air-conditioning issues it's had on your trips. I'm sorry it acted up on you again, but glad John was able to get it going and I'm sure your prayers for God to lay His hands on the thing did the trick as well!

I love all your pictures. You have a knack for making everyone feel like they were right along with you on your trips.

Can't wait to read more of the 4th of July road trip and your Disney trip! :)

Rainforest Cafe used to be one of our favorites, until we learned that rainforests and toddlers don't mix well. :rotfl: I think Hunter made a great choice for a birthday meal.

I lived in Cleveland, TN for about four years and during those four years, there was constantly road construction on the route to Chattanooga. I don't know how they work so hard on it and never finish it. :confused3

Wow - I was really behind.

I hope John's seizure med titration continues to go well?

$77 for a bra? Heck No!!!! That's crazy!

The Disney rewards card fiasco - OMG! I hate those automated systems where you are on hold for eternity and then get disconnected. That is crazy. Glad you finally got it done.

Rainforest cafe looks so great. Now I want to eat there. I have all my ADRs for December, but its going on my list for June. Definitely!

Sorry to hear about the problems with mama's van problems. What is with you guys and having problems when on road trips?
