To all those July brides....

How was the weather? Were you or your guests too hot?

My ceremony is scheduled for 12 PM at the WP and the reception is at the Atlantic Dance Hall. My mom won't get off my back at how hot it is going to be.

Somebody please reassure me that I have nothing to worry about!

I won't lie to you...it will be hot and humid. I grew up in Miami, FL, so I now all about the summer. Since you are having your wedding in the WP, your guests will be nicely air-conditioned for the ceremony. In addition, the Atlantic Dance Hall will also provide relief from the heat. The only thing I would worry about is your attire. If you plan to take photos outside on the beach, you may need to think about light, airy fabrics. Ditto for the groom and wedding party. Alternatively, you may want to wait until after the reception to take pics, but I can imagine you will all be too exhausted by that point. One other thing to remember is that your guests will need lots of fluids. They might not drink alcohol during the pre-reception if it is hot outside. I read in a wedding magazine that some brides have refreshments (or water bottles) available at the ceremony location and pre-reception for their hot guests. You could also serve a signature drink, such as pink lemonade, and give it a cute wedding name. I am sure that your day will be beautiful...with that bright FL sun smiling down on you!

We had an outdoor wedding in July at Disney. Yes it was hot, no it wasn't miserable at least for me and I was the one in the heavy dress.

I think my guests all dressed accordingly to the weather and were fine. If they weren't I didn't hear about it.

My wedding is this July and while I know it is going to be hot...it would be hot in NY in July too! So my guests can not complain. They will be in a/c most of the time and only move to go to buses and DP at night.
That being said, I am wearing chiffon dress andso our my BM's. I have instructed all to wear light fabrics.
Where do you live? oh i see Georgia...is your mom from there too? Cause maybe I'm wrong but it is hot there too in July
HTH

don't forget to let your guests know that too... heard from my coordinator that she seen people faint during summer weddings.

I was married this past july at the wedding pavilion. It is hot.Especially in a heavy gown with a long veil sticking to your back. The only time that I couldn't handle it was for outsde pictures.Everything else was great, even the coach. Take special care of the elderly as my FIL has diabetes and when he got into the limo to go over for pictures at the floridian he had heat stroke. The limo was not cooled off when he got in it! Other than that it was a beautiful day and everyone had a great time.

We got married at the end of June, and it was HOT. The only time it was totally unbearable was when we were taking pictures outside of the WP. Personally, I think as long as your ceremony isn't outside you'll be fine. In my heavy lace ballgown I don't think that I could have handled the combination of the heat and humidity (the heat index was 110 the day of our wedding) for the length of our ceremony (20 minutes).

Thanks to everyone for the reassurance and the advice. I just think my mom finds something new to complain about each day.

forgot to mention that it's not a bad idea to bring some pretty [sun]umbrella to the events, somthing to match your dress would be wonderful as well. and if everyone can get the same style it'll be neat.

I second all the other summer brides...our wedding was September 1st and I'd be lying if I told you that it wasn't hot. I had the same itinerary you do, but 2 hours later...I had pics taken before the ceremony b/c I wanted to beat the summer rains and I wanted pics out on the boardwalk...I couldn't make it all the way out there because of the hot humidity. We did our outdoor pics near doors and someone would stand with the door open so the a/c would spill out. Likewise our WP pics out on the beach--you can see the strain of the hot humidness on our faces...BUT that said...it was gorgeous and I didn't hear any complaints from our guests...they went from their a/c hotel lobbies, to an a/c bus, to an a/c wedding pavilion, back to the a/c bus, and on to the a/c ADH. They probably were a little hot walking the boardwalk, but really it's only for a moment and it's all a/c'd at the end:) I was worried about the heat too, but in the end it was fine!
