I'm not asking anyone to convince me to go or stay home, rather tell me what you are doing or thinking to get unstuck from the big "IF" to planning, packing, and getting excited that I haven't allowed myself to do yet. I have DVC reservations, Park Pass reservations, AP's, and a few ADRs. We leave in a week and I would usually have a packing list, a list of must-do rides, a grocery shopping list, and a growing stack of things I want to pack. It just doesn't seem real yet. If you are going this month, how are you feeling? How is your prep coming? Are you excited?

We had originally, back in October, planned our first trip to Disneyland this year. Well that was thrown out the window because we didn’t want to miss out on our first visit so we changed to WDW, because we have been there 11 times with 6 visits from 2015-now. And then had to juggle that reservation a few more times. But we are ready I’m fully packed ahead of this weekend for the first time in ever! There will be a different atmosphere when we go back next weekend but we have seen and done WDW the way we wanted in the past. This trip is to get out and spend some time in a place that makes us happy. This feels like our first trip with how excited we are! After having the possibility of not knowing when we would go, to watching our dates for scheduled trips come and go, to actually being able to officially go...we couldn’t be more ready. I know for me it was extremely hard to get happy at first because I felt like it could just be cancelled again. I’m not sure where it happened but I got excited again and can’t stop getting ready.

Everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) about our trip has changed. From the original dates (May, then June, now July) to who is coming with (originally 7 people, 3 rooms, including all of our kids, daughter-in-law & friends to now only hubby and me) to FPs to ADRs to the resort we are staying at. I have not allowed myself to get excited yet because we still have 20 days until we leave and anything can happen between now and then. We have APs and have been to Disney countless times so we don't have any "must-do" things on our list. We were there on the 1 year anniversary of 9/11 and felt like we experienced a unique time in Disney's history. We want to go on this trip and hope it will be much the same in that regard. I completely understand the "not allowing yourself to get excited yet" part of it. I haven't either.

We're supposed to leave in 10 days (leaving insanely early in the morning). I am hesitantly excited about it. It's just a weird sort of feeling for so many reasons. I think it will be a unique experience. I was there March 13-16 earlier this year so I am interested in being there almost right when they open like I was there right when they were closing.
After being mostly to ourselves for so long we'll see how we do but I think it is better for us emotionally than staying around just each other.
