July Super Goofs challenge thread

Well, I'm not being consistent but I am getting out and doing more than normal. Here is the last week.

Wed July 16 - Walk 2 miles / 1/2 hour

Friday July 18 - Walk 2 miles / 1/2 hour

Saturday July 19 - Hike 2 miles / 1 hour (rough terrain)

Monday July 21 - High Ropes 6 hours - don't know if this counts for anything - I am a high ropes instructor and spent 6 hours in the trees with girls age 10-18 - first you climb a cargo net, then run between elements helping girls transfer their lines (if they aren't tall enough), I also ended up having to belay a girl down that just couldn't go on. It is a big upper body workout.

7/21: 5 miles 20 minutes bike and 15 minutes jumping jacks, push ups, etc

Great job on the workouts everyone. Becky I got your miles/minutes. Thank you. I will update the spreadsheet today.

A HUGE congratulations out to Mike. You rock!!!

I did 8.5 miles on Sunday. I tried for 9 but my calculations were a bit off and to get the other .5 in it was all uphill so I gave in. I took yesterday off from work with a headache and upset stomach. Of course, I did try to get a workout in to see if it made me feel better. I rode 15 miles on my bike and no, it did not. So I rested the remainder of the day.

DS6 had a great time at summer camp. DD13 had a terrible practice hitting her thumb....again...and we cannot find her splint. Sometimes my cleaning lady is a little too clean...:sad2:

I am on the run with kidlets the rest of the week. I will check in as I have time. Carry on Goofs. Summer is nearly over!!

Oh and anyone within a good distance from Skowhegan, Maine should venture up the week of August 7-16 for the annual New Balance Tent Sale that we have here. Everything in the outlet store is 60-70% off and by the last day, what is left is even more. Shoes, kid shoes, socks, apparel, bags, bottles, etcetera. Anyone need anything????

7/18
1.5 miles/23 mins

7/19
5 miles/82 mins
this was my race, so count me for 10...
it was 91 out (and very humid), there was a mile long hill on the course, and I was WAY out of my league on this one!!! I finished, but I was all alone....

7/20
.5 mile/16 mins
(my legs were killing me!)

7/21
1 mile/18 mins

Just a mile for me running today:sad1: But another 50 minutes of Pilates and foam rollering--so a total of 1 hour.
I'm running out of hope that I will ever fix my right hip/knee. I'm not willing to give up trying to run at this point, but I'm just running out of things to try. I haven't tried anything drastic--like one month of no running--but maybe that's next.

Maura

Good morning Goofs!

Yesterday's totals:

Time: 3 hours
Miles: 5

Yeah me! I got up and ran 5 miles before work, then after work got an hour of stretch and an hour of Pilates. By the time it was over, I was exhausted!

Beth

Hello Goofs!

Just back from vacation, where I did walk/run a bunch, so I will post numbers later or tomorrow.

Lisa, we did put our feet in the ocean at OOB but that was about it. The water temp was 68 I believe. We just spent 4 days on the beach in Clearwater, FL and the water temp was between 88 and 90 each day. Big difference!!!

Biggest difference from last years beach vacation to this year...last year I got up each morning at 8am and went to Dunkin Donuts for bagels and donuts for breakfast...this year I got up each morning at 7:30am and walked/ran on the beach with my Garmin. Yeah ME! :yay:

I'm back after 2 weeks off to rest my ankle and I have a PR to report!

It was the local running store final 5k in their series of three cross country races. It was raining so the timeclock was under an overhang at the 3 mile mark. I hit that at 38:30 which means I finally did a 5k in under 40 minutes. Not sure of my actual finish time though.

Great job on the workouts everyone. Becky I got your miles/minutes. Thank you. I will update the spreadsheet today.

Glad you got my info.

The New Balance thing sounds neat. I need shoes but will have to find them somewhere myself to ensure they fit.

Tonight I biked 5 miles and did some other exercise, total time 45 minutes.

30 minute walk, 1.5 miles.

Today 30 minute, 7 mile bike ride.

This week is going to be low numbers for me, then it will start to pick up as I train for a marathon in November.

Mike

:goodvibes Morning Goofs!!:goodvibes I see you all have been busy in my absence!! Keep up the good work.

Suzanne: I cannot believe you even stuck your feet in. If that was 68 degrees, they must have taken the measurement off the top cuz I swear it was waaaaay colder than that when I got dumped off the boogie board to the bottom!! :scared1: I hope you enjoyed Maine!

Ksoerhlein: Yay for a PR after your time off!! :yay: Hey, 3.1 turns into 6.2 so you did 6.2 in 38:30 (talk about a PR!!).

Mike: Low miles week? You forget that you started the week off with the doubled miles to 140.60!! :scared: No low miles weeks for you mister!! :upsidedow

Maura: Hang in there, it HAS to get better eventually!:flower3:

Cecilia: I hope everything is going well. We have not heard from you in awhile. Missing your smiling face! :)

All other Goofs: A big hi from the northern tip of the US!

As for me, I ran 5.5 on Monday at a 10:26 pace. Finally under 10:30. I may be getting there slowly but surely. I finished this in under 1 hour. Hey, only another half mile and .2 and I think I can speed up in some places. My first mile was a 12:30 so I definitely could speed up there during a race. I usually spend the first mile dodging people and then wondering how I am at mile 1 already!! I also signed up for the Nike+ Human Race 10K on 8/31. Anyone interested, go to nikeplus.com/humanrace and sign up there. You can do it virtually in your own area or join a place where members are running. I have the Nike+ sensor already and the nano attachment, now I just have to find my last pair of Nike+ sneaks which I think DD13 took from the donate box!!

Sorry for my multiple MIAs lately. Our last softball tourney is this weekend and then it is school preparation. I took DD13 school shopping yesterday and finished up everything (except the important notebook, pencil, pen thing) right down to undies. Anyone who has a teenager DD should hit a new Aerie store soon. If you sign up for their program (free) you get a pair of undies (free). Bonus points!! I have never been so deaf as to stand in Hollister and A&F for 20 minutes while she tries on jeans!!!!! :sad2: What's up with the deafening music??? I must be getting old.....:confused3

Have a great day Goofs. Only one more day this exercise period and then the final week in July. Where has the summer gone???? :guilty:

GREAT JOB, MIKE. Loved your report. I see an IRONMAN in your future. :teeth:

This is just a quick driveby as I'll be heading out to Dallas today for a bike ride/race this weekend.

Monday, July 21 -

Steve - 4 miles, 1 hour

Wednesday, July 23 -

Susie - 10 miles 44 minutes

Steve - same

Lisa Great job on your speed improvement, and I hear you on the deafening music. I mean, I may like the music they're playing, but not at 130db!

Suzanne WTG on the running during vacation! Unless we are doing an active vacation (e.g. hiking) I am not that great about keeping up with the "regularly scheduled program". When we're at Disney, my excuse is "I must be walking about 10 miles--why exercise!"

After spending 8 hours in the car yesterday driving my visiting nephew up north to a program he's doing for the month, I didn't do anything yesterday. Today I partially made up for that by doing 40 minutes at the gym on the bike for 11.25 miles. Sweating like a ?? never felt so good!

Maura

Thursday totals 7/24

Time: 2 hours
Miles: 10

Went for a bike ride with the family and got to they gym for elliptical work this evening.

Beth

Good morning Goofs. I hope everyone is doing well and working out hard!

I have no miles/minutes for the following:
Cruella de Mom
Groovygirls
Hockeygirl
Floridagirl
Suzannews

I won't be updating the spreadsheet until next week due to the softball tourney this weekend so just get those in to me as soon as possible. :surfweb: We are moving into the final week of July :guilty: so lets make this month a good one!!

As for me, today is my peak workout in the Runners World training for the 10K race. The race is a week from tomorrow. Yes I am getting a little nervous. I know I can run 6.2 easy enough but I have set a pretty lofty goal for myself and it is a BIG race. This is one of the premier 10Ks in the country and there will be some serious runners there. :scared: I get pretty intimidated by them but at least it is a point to point and I don't have to meet them coming back when I am at mile 2!! :upsidedow I have 8.25 to 10.25 on tap for today. I am supposed to run the 6.25 at my 10K pace. Fingers crossed people. I need all the help and support I can get.

I will report back in on Monday. Softball rules as my DD13 says!! Well, it sure does rule my life lately....:scratchin Later days Goofs!!!

Please excuse the interruption!

Hey guys, if you haven't noticed, Judy & myself are trying to entice as many WISHers as possible to voluntEAR as Sports Enthusiasts for Marathon Weekend.

It will be lots of fun, and what a great way to support others WISHers (and all the athletes) if you are not participating! :thumbsup2

Nevermind, you receive a one-day park ticket, jacket and a snack for your troubles!

I know that we had a blast doing this last year and we hope to have much more particpation this year. :woohoo:

Come on guys, you know you wanna.... :cheer2:

Back to normal team posting activities...

So, say I had been being really good about food choices and training, and had a reason to celebrate too, so I was going to have a steak and potato dinner (which I NEVER do anymore)...would my best choice be to have it the night before a long run (long for me...7 miles) or the night after said run?
