I heard from Leslie at about 10:30 this morning. She talked all her family into going to the event with her. She owes her sons big time, they were rebelling loudly all week.
Well she got to the line just before 4 a.m. and was car # 292. She didn't get the golfer Mickey. She was able to get the other two pins, but the last people to get the golfer Mickey vouchers were there since 10 p.m. the night before.
She said some people started the line at 7 p.m. and there were many many vans with 10 or 11 people in them.
I can't imagine how they will do the August event, there is no way they can allow people to line up at the gates at 7 p.m. the night before.

Just a correction regarding the time the Golfing Mickey Pin People got there. The last person to get the Wristband for the Golfing Mickey Pin got there around 1:15 am. True, the first people in line were there around 7:00 pm. We got there at midnight and were only car 88 and people total of 220, so 280 people after us got the wristband for Mickey. The average people per car was around 2.5 per car. Also, the August Epcot Pin Event won't have any car line-ups since the special 1000 pin is only for the people who bought the breakfast package and the other LE pins will be done by lottery. I hope this information helps a little.

Just returned from WDW Contemporary pin event. We got into the lot just after 5 am. Already too late to get the Golfing Mickey. Most of the vehicles we noticed had 3-5 people per vehicle, not too sure about the 2.5 theory. But I wasn't on the consensus committee either. :)

I don't want this to be taken the wrong way but the way it was done seemed quite unfair to many people. I didn't think much of it at first, I just figured I didn't make it here in time. No big deal. As the day went on I met several people who were fortunate enough to get the Golfing Mickey pin. Perhaps fortunate was a bit of an understatement because these 4 particular individuals had 6 & 8 each. My question is this How is one person to get 8 golfing mickey pins? Can anyone tell me how this one person gets 8 of these pins? One of these individuals tells me he had purchased 7 of the swan pins just a few weeks ago. He was not kind enough to share this pin collecting secret with me but I did see the golfing mickey pins so I do know he had them and the swan pins.

I got there like I said just after 5am so I probably was not going to get the mickey pin anyways but what about the people who were there just minutes after these people but were not able to get the pins only because this guy needs 8 of them. I don't have a problem with getting an extra one or two for trading but there has got to be a better way to control this.

only one word sums it up Greed!:(

Well, I was not really looking forward to this event in the first place (c'mon.. two weeks apart? I'm still recovering from the last one! ;) ). Finding out Vince was coming to visit me was my only saving grace. :D

Anyways, hubby and I figured that getting there by 2 am would be a cake walk. No problem getting the LE 1000 pin, considering 4:30 - 5 am was the cutoff before. Well, we forgot the following factors: weekend, holiday weekend, summer, no admission required. Ooopps! People brought their friends by the car load! I saw some vans with 8 people in them. Yikes, that's crowded.

Well, I guess what irked us was that we counted how many people were in front of us (easy to do.. they put the number of people per car on your card! duhhh...). We had 495 people in front of us (we actually arrived about 1:45 am). We knew we were stretching it, but might be in the running. Weren't we surprise when we got stand-by vouchers # 41 & 42?!?! Huh? Asked a CM about it.. they stuttered something about holding pins for damage. And to think we were just sitting around at home waiting for the time to come to leave. Silly us, we never figured people would be in line by 7:30 pm the previous night! LOL...
Ok, so we thought we missed out, no big deal other than the lack of sleep, and I figured I could trade for it. Lucky for us, our stand-by voucher allowed us to buy our pins, so the day ended happy. I think the cut-off for stand-by vouchers was about #50, but don't quote me.

Anyways, all in all a successful day for us. The points of the day I did like: whole thing was INside (ahh... what a relief), made a decent trade, pin hunt was very fast (even stopped at 1900 Park Fare for bfast, and the whole thing took us 1 1/2 hours). What I didn't like: I already mentioned the car/voucher system, the pin hunt design - just A Bug's Life design? - perhaps this was one pin event too many, it would have been nice if the other 4th of July pins had been released - I feel sorry for all those who were just visiting for the weekend.

Ok, there's my recap. Time for sleep!

This was for a pin... I do have one thing I can't believe. I just heard that there were people there at the front of the line that had little kids and infants with them... I can't belive that a parent would have their child stay in a parking lot all night so they could get en extra pin... Some things you just don't do... Not even for a pin.

Yes that is true NHMickey little ones were there to.
But some People dont care. They are the ones at WDW walking 20 feet in front of
the little 3 & 4 year olds saying are you COMEING or not.
So sad :(

If you go to e-bay you can see that one individual has 7 of the Golfing Mickey's up for auction. This person also has a few more but they are in auctions with the Swan boat pin. I know this has been said before, but the only way to stop thse people from doing this is by not buying from e-bay.
I have never bought or sold from e-bay because it just bugs me too much to see things like this happening. I would like that Mickey pin, but I will never pay more what these people are asking.
And one word of warning to those of you who do the e-by thing. There area few Mickey Golfing rac pins up there too. Make sure if you are bidding you are bidding on the LE pin. Peggie

Peggie, can you check with her and let me know when (and if) she got a hold of my July 4th AK and Simba POM pins?
