July Patriotic Warriors!!

Good new here! I got 4 miles in this morning and the calf is just great! (Wish I could say the same for my hand that some bug bit/stung yesterday it's all hot, swollen and itchy.) The run was slow (on purpose because I walked a little more than I normally would) it was so great though to actually run pain free again!

I hope everyone else has as great a day!

Hello to all!!

Hope we are all Happy Warriors this evening!

It was a relative "cool spell" today with the temp topping out at about 90 & the heat index at about 98. I got my lazy butt out the door this morning (about 90 minutes later than I planned, but I DID say I was lazy, not ambitious...:lmao::lmao:).

I managed to get in 10 whole, freakin miles today. Not quickly, but under 2 hours. I'm now sure I can get the DL 1/2 done. My back was pretty throbbing by the time I finished, but what's new. This is the longest "run" I've done since a 1/2 M in Ohio back in April.

I spent the time trying different strategies to see what would keep my pain down. None worked, but it was relatively tolerable. I'm hoping with a bit of chemical help, I can get it down further, at least for the LR's.

Carrie - Still waitin' on the trip report. Congrats on doing a 1/2 IM. Color me envious.

Lost our air conditioner last night  but thank goodness it was fixed this morning and it was just something with the thermostat:cool1:

Did our afternoon walk after work. The average pace was only 16:40, not as good as Sunday, but the heat was getting to me this time. When we got home we just jumped into the pool.:yay: It was great to stretch the muscles in the pool. At least when we do our long walks on Sunday, we do it in the dark, and the heat is not comming off of the road yet.

Hope everyone else is doing okay with the heat.

Kathy

Thanks for the congrats! Life has been crzy since the race. I will do a full RR, but here's a quickie for now on the tri thread. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=37666886#post37666886

I can't believe it's over. Spent months wishing it was and now.... We might have 1 more tri this season. ALmost time to turn to marathon training, though. Kind of sad.

Hi all

Carrie - party: Congratulations on the Tri

Kathy - Sound like your pregressing well.

Jim - Good Job on the 10mile Long Run. Your coming into the home stretch. I hope you find a combination the works well on your back.

Pam - Glad to hear your back at it again.

Amanda - Hope this week in working out better for you.

Tracie - You too sound like you are nearing the home stretch for DL.

Kate - Good job on the Long Run.

Me - Today was the first day of 2 min. of running and 3 minutes of walking. Longer than I had before (I was up to 1:30 in June before the medical problems). I took is slow and easy and was able to complete it. The weather didn't help anything. The temp wasn't too bad at 73 but the relative humidity was 94%. So the sweat didn't evaporate well. I ended up doing 3.25 miles. Monday's training also went well, I did 4 miles.
