We will be visiting from NY and wonder what dates to choose. We love warm weather and low crowds. Last year we visited at Easter and it was chilly but nice and very, very crowded. We will not be there for 4th of July to avoid the Hoilday crowds. If you had a week to pick what would it be? ( I was leaning towards Mid August).

August is typically warmer than July, but you never know with our weather any more. In either month the evenings can still be cool, but the days are warm to hot.

Mid-August is good as many schools are year-round here and some kids will be back in school already.

Have fun! :)

Both July and August will be crowded. Parks will be open late though. August probably have a few less people, but in general it will still be crowded.

I just wanted to second that, because there are less crowds in August. ESPECIALLY, if you can manage to wait until the last week in August. The reason is that many private schools, and colleges start earlier than the September rush, and even though the weather will still be quite warm, it should be a bit easier to get on rides. I'd also advise you to go on any day other than Fridays and Saturdays...even Sundays are better than that.

All my best

Thanks for the replies! We are still leaning towards late August!

Quite a few public schools will be back in session starting 8/26 as well. So if you can shoot for the last week of August you might luck out. But the weekend of 8/31-9/2 will be the Labor Day weekend, so that weekend will be hosed.

We went in late august last year, I think it was the week before labor day. And while it was crowded it was managable. It was hot and an afternoon rest/pool break was deffiently needed.

How hot is hot? We go to Florida the last week in August every year and the average temp. is around 90 and humid. Is it that hot?

We'll be there July 2-4. I'm sure it will be a zoo, but at least the park hours are long (much longer than WDW). I was surprised that I could get reservations at every hotel I tried.

Letsbgoofy,

Not sure about Anaheim temps ... I live about 75 miles east and we're already in the 90's this week (yuck) and in July/August we'll surpass 100 on a daily basis (double yuck).

As for the July 2-4 crowds, plan on getting to the park EARLY and expect them to stop letting people into the park on July 4 -- I hear they tend to max out on capacity on the 4th of July. And I'm not sure if a handstamp will guarantee they'll let you back in later in the day (might want to verify that). Zoo is right.

Typically, the heat is up in the 90s in the Harbor areas (Knott's, Disneyland/DCA), but into the hundreds in the valley (Universal) and desert areas (Magic Mountain) <Both Universal and Magic Mountain are on hills, so the breezes do kick up a bit, but they are usually warm breezes>.

Keep in mind that Disneyland, unlike Disney World, is a dry heat. You will be hot, and you will be sweaty, but you won't be sticky.

I reccomend that you plan to do things around the water parts of the parks during the hottest parts of the day. I don't necessarily mean to do a water ride, such as Splash Mountain at Disneyland and GRR at DCA, but to be next to the large bodies of water. Stay in New Orleans/Frontierland at Disneyland in the heat - it is especially nice to get to the shade of Tom Sawyer's Island and have a break, or stay around the boardwalk area in DCA. The reason is that all that water creates cool breezes as it evaporates in the hot sun, thus lowering the temperature around those areas considerably. I hope this helps.

I guess humidity is releative to what you are used to. While (guessing) it is not like Florida it is much higher then were I live in northern california.

Thanks for all the advice. We will be staying at the Disneyland Hotel, so we plan to spend the hottest part of the day at the pool. Dry heat I can live with, I hate the humid weather. I believe that we are guaranteed to get back in to the parks?? We leave on the 4th in the early afternoon anyway.
